DS is now a middle schooler!! I did have to laugh and sort of  roll my eyes this am. I know I have joked about being sad that he is a middle schooler now, but there were moms just :bigcry: crying their eyes out and going on and on. I was like "uh, this is just elementary school folks" LOL
Anyway, it was a nice program. They did a video that was just too cute.
But knock me over with a feather and pardon me as I brag, but ds got two really cool awards. One was for coming in 5th out of a 100 in some statewide math test/program and another was a "Presidential Award of Academic Excellence" for getting straight A's for 4th and 5th grade, S's or above in conduct and 98% or higher on TAAS for those two years also....he got a really cool certificate and letter from George W.!!!

They had a pool party this afternoon. He is exhausted now! LOL

Congratulations for having such a brilliant child, but of course, we KNEW this!

I gotta say, I would be one of the bawling mamas. That kind of thing just chokes me up!

Congrats to your ds. I'm afraid I'll be a blubbering idiot when ds graduates from HS. (didn't have 6th grade graduation) I was beaming from ear to ear and crying at times during the K - 4 talent show Wed. I just take such pride in my students, past and present, doing well. It was the best show we've ever had with lots of really cute class acts and skits. It ended with ds former 4th grade teacher having her class sing the graduation song and showing a power point presentation of all they had done throughout the year. It was very impressive. She is such an excellent teacher.

:yippee: CONGRATULATIONS :yippee: to your ds... You must be SO proud of him. I'm also one of those mom's who sits there and cries like a blubbering idiot. LOL All I have to do is SEE somebody else crying and I automatically cry. LOL When my dd graduated from nursing school one of the speakers... who was a nurse, got very emotional and started to cry... and that pretty much did it for most of the women in the audience. A lot of kleenex got handed out. LOL

Anyway... I'm glad that your ds's graduation went well Ann... Your ds sounds like an extraordinary young man. :) A letter and certificate from George W... WOW!!! :) That must have thrilled the heck out of him... LOL I'm sure he'll want to frame and display that up on a wall somewhere... :)

I can't believe that school is out for some of you already. My kids have another two weeks left. What are you all going to do to keep them busy this summer? I won't have any older schoolers in my day care this summer so I really don't have to worry about too many changes going on this year... which I guess I'm glad for. I'll never forget how hard it was trying to keep all of my schoolers busy last year... :) They get bored SO easy... :) Anyway, take care and... I hope your kids enjoy their summer off... :)

Diane...

Thanks ya'll!! He really is a fantastic kid!
Diane, Kat...I think graduating from HS and nursing school DESERVE tears, but remember this was ELEMENTARY school!! LOL

And not to leave without bragging on dd..she got a certificate for having one of her art pieces shown at our Rodeo but, more importantly..she is now reading ABOVE grade level!!!!!! She started the year at a 3 and finished at an 18!!!

Oh, and Diane..this is why my kids swim!! LOL Actually, I am kind of looking forward to having some down time..it seems we have just been running at a feverish pace lately. But ds leaves for Washington DC on Wednesday, comes back Sunday, then he goes to camp for a week at the beginning of July and then we will go to Colorado for about 10 days at the end so I guess we will have that "down" time between all that!! LOL

Any rite of passage makes me cry. I guess it's that the passage of time is so blatant, so prominent and right in my face. I went to a music festival yesterday and this kids marching band was playing, and all their parents were there, so proud. My kids were dancing to the music....it choked me up!

LIFE chokes me up because it's just so amazing. I feel humbled when watching children growing up.

:D That's fantastic. I'm glad your daughters reading has improved so well. She must be tickled over it herself.
I too must admit I would be the bawling mother. I couldn't stop when my oldest graduated from Kindergarten. And even elementary school, I would be so emotional. LOL I have to keep hiding my tears behind the camera!

Well I've been known to cry over tv commercials, so I don't expect to make it through any kind of graduation without crying. I'm really happy for you and your dk's . Enjoy all of the moments and accomplishments they go so fast...:)
