vea - lol!!

The kids just left for school. Dd#2 and I are going shopping today to make plans for her "chocolate party" she wants to have for her 4th birthday. I am going to try and make chocolate bar invitations. Any idea would be highly appreciated. I am not going to do a chocolate fountain, but I will dip strawberries in chocolate, maybe a pinata with nothing but chocolate candies, I don't know... I'm going to see what's out there... lol Her party is Friday. I am also working on dd#1's party the following Friday and she wants to do a flower theme. I think we'll decorate pots and plant a flower in it. I need to get invitations going for that too.

That's it for today except for normal cleaning, laundry etc. I finished up the girls closets last night. I need to call MIL/FIL and see if they are coming for dinner tonight.

Have a great Monday!

Angie, one year one of the older boys had a Willy Wonka kind of party theme. The invites were on gold paper with the wording similar to that on the candy bar in the movie. Just wrap it around a chocolate bar and put the whole thing in an envelope so they take the invites home to mom or dad before the wrap gets thrown out. lol
Making your own little chocolates is soooo easy, as I have recently discovered. Melt the choc. in the microwave and fill the little trays that are whatever shape you want. They are done in minutes. I made choc. lollipops to go in cupcakes and was so surprised how fast they were done.
The flower party sounds fun too :)
Vea, lol.

I need to get my behind in gear and get to the police station. UGH!!! The cop who pulled me over told me I had 72 hours to get the sticker on and show up and my ticket would be void. Said it would save me from going all the way downtown if I went to this other part of city near me. Great! So, on the way out of town to fil's we stop. It's closed. All weekend. And it's too late to go to another one that is not downtown because they were closed an hour before. Why did he tell me I had that much time and not bother to tell me they were closed on the weekend? And who ever heard of a police station being closed?? There are always dozens of cars there, didn't know they had office hours!! Grrrrrr. I so hope to see the same guy when I go today to plead not to have to pay the 110$ fine. I could have drove all the way downtown at that point if I wasn't expected out of town and already running late. Downtown is not fun at 5 weekend or not and would have taken forever. I hope I don't have to pay for it, we'll see.
Visit was good, went shopping after dinner but the stores were closing soon so went back to fil's and finished watching the hockey game. Celebration at sil's next day for her dd's first communion was nice. Kids all had a fun visit playing in her yard. She did daycare before having the twins and has all kinds of neat stuff to climb on, including an incredible climbing tree. lol
Not much else today besides police station and groceries. Hope you all have a good one :)

Good luck at the police station. I hope the same cop is there and you won't have to pay the fine. :( I've never heard of police stations being closed either... 8o Kind of weird... LOL

Vea...WAKE UP!!! :goofy:
Angie, the chocolate theme sounds yummy.
Mel, hope you get the ticket straightened around.

Had a good weekend. Just took it easy Sat. night and sat on the couch from @ 7:30 pm. til 11:00 watching TLC, lol.

Did my 5K race yesterday and unofficially (meaning, according to my watch) I finished in 32 minutes...the "official" times haven't been posted yet, but I don't know how official they will be since we weren't chipped or anything. It was windy too, but it wasn't too bad. I felt exhilarated afterwards. Went to a bbq with a couple of others after the race.

I'm not ready to be awake yet, either. Ds2 fell asleep during the loudest part of STOMP yesterday  and was ready and rarin' to go till about 11:00 last night. I was ready for bed by about 6:30. He's still waking through the night, so it makes for some low quality sleep.

We are going to clean this pit today!!! 8o It always deteriorates some over the weekend, but this is ridiculous!

Knitting this afternoon and my night out tonight. :) I may get some flowers to take to our friends today for May Day.

Have a great one!

:)

I bought the chocolate bars. I found a site that has printable "wrappers" but they aren't exactly what I want, so I need to tweak that a bit. I found a lone pinata at Target that was on clearance from 12.99 to 3.74, it is Princesses. I love when I find something on clearance that I actually needed!! lol

I've got Sarah today... trying to get some things done but not doing very well at it. LOL It's a good thing I did all my laundry last night because I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten it done today with her here. LOL So far we've baked cookies, read stories, played with play doh, colored, built with building blocks, watched Sesame Street... and now she's quietly sitting looking through a photo album. LOL She wants to go to the park but it's raining outside... so that's out. LOL Anyway... as much as I hate to admit it.... I'm pooped. I sit here wondering how on earth I took care of 12 kids and still got everything done that I needed to get done. I must be getting old. LOL I'm having a great time but I'm thinking it will probably be an early bed for me tonight. LOL

Hope you're all having a great day...

Vea... glad you got more rest...
Pam... what are you knitting?
Melody... How'd it go at the police station? I hope you were able to get there and get it cleared up.

Angie - I've done the wrappers for candy bars and they're so easy.
I checked out the ones online and didn't like them either. I just bought the Hershey bars and opened a document with Print Shop and printed them on regular printer paper (have done plain and printed paper) then wrapped them 'round the bar. I needed to trim the ends of the paper, but it worked.

Good luck and I LOVE the idea of a chocolate party!

you could also use crockpots and have a couple of stations, one with fruit, another with angel food cake, another with marshmellows..

Since it's a bunch of 4 year olds I'm just gonna dip strawberries in chocolate. I don't need another appliance to store, but would really like to have one, lol!

Brichard finished the invites, they are so cute. Dd has asked for 10 different kinds of cake, lol. I hope the parents don't mind sick kids when they get home! I think I will do the self decorated cupcakes, other than the pinata I don't really have a plan and I need one!

Sounds really cute. Wish I were creative in the birthday party department. Dil hinted yesterday about dgd's upcoming b-day wanting to know where she could have it. We had both of dgs's parties at our church where they could ride bikes, skate, etc. I guess what she was really asking was for me to put together her party. That's always so much fun with the inlaws and outlaws. NOT! But I also hate the idea of seperate, competing parties. I'll bite the bullet and come up with a civilized way for us all to share in her moment. Any ideas from you creative people will be greatly appreciated.

It's not really about chocolate but could you somehow make a giant game of Candy Land and have the kids as the pieces? Scavenger hunt. Hot potato using a big chocolate bunny or egg left in the Easter section, wrap the chocolate in suran wrap? maybe a big poster of Willy Wonka and they have a cutout to pin the Willy Wonka or an Oompa Loompa in a certain spot on the poster instead of pin the tail on the donkey. Sorry, that's all I can come up with. LOL

I missed a whole day here.

Angie, I can't believe your dd is going to be 4. Wasn't she just born? :goofy: It sure seems like it. The party sounds fun.

Kat- Good Luck with the party. You sure are a God send when it comes to your dil. Most mil's would have really been over her at this point. I know she frustrates you to no end, but you are such a wonderful grandma (mother) to your grandbabies. They (and your ds) sure are lucky!

I think I'm going to do a kiss toss. Hershey kisses into plastic buckets, kinda like what they used to do on the BOZO show. Now that shows my age doesn't it? lol

Thanks for the site, I'm going to check it out.
