Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday. We have just super weather today. Dh and I spent the weekend planting new flower/shrub beds. We've moved some plants and added new ones. The front of the house looks great. We plan on planting something for a hedge in the front yard to hide the highway, have a few more plants to add to the north side of the house, and then a really big project in the back yard. But first we have to make several trips to the creek for rock. This fall I want to plant some more trees. Since we bought this house we've lost 3 huge oak trees. I noticed that we have another dead one and one half dead on the north side. They are right on the lot line. I told dh he should approach the neighbor to see if he'd be willing to go halves to cut them down. We spent $600 last summer to have one cut and they took the wood.

Well, I've got a picnic and softball game to go to and I'd best go start my beans.

Kat,
sounds like you've been awful busy!! I really need to weed my garden, but it seems when I have the chance the job search takes a dive and I lose all motivation.

We had a really good day today!! Dh's dad and step mom arrived around 10:30. dh's brother and family showed up about an hour later. We grilled peppercorn pork ribs, chicken burgers, bbq chicken, hotdogs (all which FIL brought) and a few hamburgers. Dh helped me make potato salad last night. ( I've never even eaten it before, let alone make it--he had to be my taster since I had no idea what it was supposed to taste like. Btw, I tried it, I don't like it.:() I also baked some beans and we had chips and cookies. We had soooo much food. Supper should be pretty easy to make.
Dh's other brother came out too with his family. We played a little volley ball and had a nice visit.

The kids only see these grandparents about once a year and didnt' really know them too well. They got along really well. There were some pretty hard feelings between dh and his step mom and we always refer to her by her first name (Carole) rather than Grandma. The kids asked ,after we ate with them the other night, if they could call her Grandma. We discussed it and came up with calling her 'Grandma Carole' since dh's late mother is their grandma. That seemed to go over really well.
Dh and the oldest dss have to go back to town around 7 PM to take down the flags they put up this morning. I'd probably better get busy making supper so they can eat before they go in.

It sounds like you've both had busy days! Ours has been nice. It started early with taking my oldest dd to march in the parade (they have to arrive 2 hrs early). After the parade we stayed for the memorial service, which was very touching. I think sometimes we tend to forget what others have done for us. I'm really glad we went.
This afternoon has been slow and that's OK by me! We're heading into the last days of school and that keeps mom running!

Have a great evening all!

My day sounded a lot like Kat's... planting some flowers and moving others to make room for some new ones. I finally got my garden's planted and I am now working on the flower pots that I hang on each post of the fence. I've only got about 4 left to do so... I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. LOL It looks GREAT though... very worth all the time I've spent on it. I caught a squirrel digging in one of my hanging pots a few times though and had to keep chasing it away... LOL Stupid thing sat up in our tree and proceeded to yell at me. LOL Ugh!!!

Anyway... we had a great weekend after it finally decided to quit raining. Tomorrow's Tuesday already... so back to work. I like starting the week out on Tuesday... hopefully the week will go by fast! :)

Take care...

Diane...

We had a lazy morning! We left home at about 11 and went out to lunch. We dropped in on some friends of ours for a little while and then went to visit with my dad and step mother. Then we stopped to see my half brother and sis in law. She was getting rid of a bunch of her kids toys and said "take whatever you want!" She had one of those "my size" barbies for my dd. Is she ever excited!!

We went flying after that. Well, dh did. He flew over John Mellencamp's house. (Anyone know who he is or is it just an Indiana thing?) I got to drive a motorcycle which I haven't gotten to do in a long, long time. It was soooo much fun. I felt like a kid again! Dk's had a blast running around. I am looking forward to the short week ahead now!!

If I'm not mistaken he went by John Cougar when I was growing up. He was one of my favorites!!! How cool!!
