I am not fully sure as to what is going on. And I will try to make this short.
As most of you know dd2 has 2 children with Cystic Fibroysis. She is Active Reserves, which to my knowledge she has been attempting since last year to leave the service. They have given her the run around for sometime now.
Originially, she was to be put on Deployment to be stationed right here at Ft.Bragg. Because of Antonio being born with CF, NOW Mercedes has been born with CF.
I have NO idea what has changed nor why. But she has NOW been told she is on deployment for overseas (which means Irag or Afganistan), OR take a dishonorable discharge ???
As I said I do not fully understand what is going on. She arrived last night at her sisters to be here in NC to deal with this mess. Which has been going on now that I know of for atleast 8 months. One person says one thing, another tells her something else; it has been driving her crazy. She had a rough enough pregnancy as it was; Mercedes was born preemie but is doing pretty good. But now for the Army to start this again!!!!! Is becoming too much.
She has enough to deal with as it is, Tonio has a monthly checkup, Mercedes is on weekly checkups, 3 boys in school, and a Husband in "Black Ops" training til Sept. And her trying to be "Chaptered" from the service.
Infact, she was going for the work for being put on deployment status for here at Ft.Bragg, when she found out she was preggie. Thats when she decided it was best to just get out of the service.
She has always had problems with preggies anyways. But figured that if her husband was going into this other; then someone needed to be here for sure with the kids.
NOW this ????
Thanks for listening. And super THANKS for your good thoughts and prayers.
How frustrating for all involved! :( Praying that it's resolved soon and that little Mercedes will soon be in as good health as Tonio is now. (((HUGS)))

I'm sorry she is going through all this right now. It must be hard on you all. (((hugs))) and prayers sent. Please keep us updated. I can't imagine how they can think it's okay for the kids to have both parents gone?
Frustrating indeed, and stressful too. Hope it all gets cleared up soon.

THANKS !!!!!
They have what is called a family care plan; which inturn gives the service "permission" to deploy either or both parents. and if both parents opt to stay in the service then they have to do this; then its okay. Which they had sat it up. But its only good for one year if parent is NOT deployed during that time then it is invalid; but its invalid anyways if the parent ends up staying ??? (you have to date it ) ??? hmmm
She hadn't updated hers at the time she found out that she was preggers; so she thought all was ok, and went on to start the "chaptering" to get out instead. ??
I don't know; it sounds like one great big mess to me!!! And I dont' understand why they call it being deployed if she was to have been originally deployed here to Ft.Bragg??? very strange how things are done is all I can say .. geezzzzzz

Sorry she's having to go through this. It doesn't seem fair that both parents should be gone... those kids need at least one of them. Prayers being said... and please keep us updated.
I thought both parents couldn't be gone??? Hope it all gets worked out.

No in todays service with the FAMILY CARE PLANS then both parents can be gone or sent out. That is why they ended up discussing with Jose's new outfit her getting out fully. Because now he will be gone for sure no ifs ands or butts too it anymore.
And when they found out that he is basicially to be stationed in VA for the next 8 yrs possibly, that helped with making that choice.
And then just before Mecedes was born, finding out that she also has cf, they were glad that they had made the choice.
Thats like many being deployed from here to yonder were being told 6 mths, and finding out it would be a year after they were over there....
I know there is alot of things maybe I shouldnt be discussing but am sooo fed up with alot of the underhanded dealings.
There is alot of things that are going on that the public really doesn't know about. And with being right here getting to know many of the soldiers its been really hard to keep my mouth shut and not say anything at all.
BUT BUT BUT THANKSSSSSSS FOR ALLLLLL THE GOOD THOUGHTS AND THE PRAYERS ... GOD DOES WORK REALLY FAST IN ALOT OF THINGS FOR SURE !!!
The unit was surprised and shocked when Becca came waltzing thru the doorway and they are NOW going to put her on INACTIVE RESERVES STATUS. YEAAA ..
From what she told me just a little bit ago; she walked in and told them ok now tell me to my face that ya'll are doing this and I want it in writing and then we shall see what the INSPECTOR GENERAL has to say about the whole thing. They very quickly got the paperwork in order and she is to go in and sign it this morning. And will then head back to VA.
Thankssss so super much for everything ... It has worked out a lot faster than it did with her sister last year... yeahhhhh ... lolol
I am sooo glad that she came down and faced them that way.
Now Jose can go about his training without having to worry about this too. Considering his training is not done until September. That is really tooo long for someone to worry about something like this.
thanksssssssss !!!!!!!

Just wanted to add my good thoughts! :)
Also - it's unreal to me that both parents can be sent out. Those poor families who go thru that. :(
I know other people who have had problems after getting out. Not exactly as you described, but it does happen. I'm glad it all worked out.
I thought both parents couldn't be gone???
Maybe in the good old days of the military. These days both parents can be gone for any amount of time at the same time. For dual military families they have had "Family Care Plans" for years (at least in the AF anyway).

Jen thats like I was under the impression also that 2 memebers could NOT be at the same place at the same time .. lololololol
they can ... for almost 5 yrs both my daughters had been right here at fr.bragg. true they both were basicially in different things kinda.
but they both went to columbia, sc at the same time for drill sargent training. and that was only 3 yrs ago. Supposedly it was the FIRST time that sc has had twins there ???? strange, very strange ???
becca is radar translations, basicially (her mos::: MI)
erika is finances. (I got a kick outta conjuring up her walking in over there with gun in hand to give soldiers their paycks .. lolol)
but they are both drill sargents.
I thought it was because they are basicially in different units so to speak. But almost all of bragg knows they are sisters ... duhhhh they are twins !!!
just because one is mrs.allison-brown the other mrs. allison-cabe` .. doesnt mean they are NOT related !!!!!! they both worked together down in lumberton, same office every 3rd weekend. and when in uniform ya had to look at name tag to see whom your talking too... except if ya happen to call out allison ... lolol but they both started out in calif under MI that was their MOS ..... hmmm
so relatives as far as I am concerned can be in the same place same time.

PamE... Me too .. she is getting to be very very outspoken these last few years. And with everything that has been going on I was surprised that she even dealth with it like that. But am grateful for sure. Am also GLAD that it is finally supposedly being fully taken care of ... weeeeee ...
I think I could write a couple of novels for sure on things just from the last 5 yrs .. lolol
Mite even be able to get movie rites .. lololol hmmmm .. :goofy: :goofy:
Seriously, I am glad that it mite be done with for now. I just hope that its sorta over with.
But did think it funny when she said that when she faced them that they said they had meant that she was to either join a unit there or come back here .... they didnt' mean overseas ... hmmm (if they did NOT mean overseas, then why did they say it to start with ???) that is what brought her down here really fast as it was; she says she is NOT going overseas ... not now anyways !!!
ah wellllll such is life huh ..
