View Full Version : Change in menstruation (sorry boys, LOL)
I need to know if Im normal or not... (no comments from the peanut gallery! ROFL!!)
After I stopped breastfeeding dk#2, my periods changed a lot. I had all the symptoms of a thyroid problem, but tests came back negative. It took me 18 months to have a normal cycle going. Even though I have them during the normal cycle, they have shortened dramatically (4 days compared to 7 days before) and they are not as heavy as before. My Dr. said this might be because Im in my 30's now and they can change during this time. Anyone have very different cycles since you had kids or hit your 30's??
Sorry this is so graphic for the first thing in the morning! LOL I don't want Donna choking on her Cheerios! LOL

LOL, no I've eaten my muffins already, thank you!! No advice here - I'd just say count your blessings unless there are other symptoms that are worrying you.

My sis is 34 and has mentioned similar cycles to yours - shorter and lighter flow. She'd probably kill me if she knew I was "exposing" her like this! ;) ROFL!!

Amy,
yes I experienced that too. Since I had kids my periods were not only shorter but no cramps either. Right after the kids were born it took a while to get back on track.
Lately though I've had to deal with really heavy periods and sometimes will last as long as 15 days! I've been to the doctor and think we've pinpointed the cause--long story I won't into here.
Its nothing serious is it????
I'd celebrate fewer days. Mine are getting longer and more painful. Sometimes I'll have 2 in a month. Having lots more cramps and last month my back hurt so bad I thought I was having back labor. My friends tell me I'm heading into the "change". I have no family history to work on since my gm died when mom was 3 and mom had a hysterectomy in late twenties.

No it's nothing serious. Without going into specific details- I had tubes tied and my doctor said that she's had a lot of women complain of problems after that. Changes in menstruation is one of them.
If you want to email me I'd be happy to discuss it in more detail. --(mz5@theideabox.com)
:)
I experienced this after baby #3. I'm 33 now, my periods used to be 6 days now I have about 4 days and much lighter. My doc said it wasn't anything to be concerned about.

Mine are different every month so I never know what to expect. Of course I'm going through my menopause so... I guess I'm pretty normal. LOL (dh might disagree with that statement.. LOL) I'll get mine for 3 day's and then it will go away for two or three more day's... and then when you least expect it... it will come back. Either that or I won't get it at all. Sometimes I'll get it for 6 or 7 days in a row. Ugh!!! I'll be SO glad when I'm all done with it... LOL

I'm 34 and for the last couple of years mine has started lasting only about 4 days.
The dr. says it is normal/common and nothing to worry about, so I'm just thankful for the shorter annoyance.

Have you checked with your doc about your pain?
I don't know how bad your pain is but I have endometriosis and your comment about back labor really hit home. My menstrual pain is severe and I have pain throughout the month as well. You may want to double check to make sure it's not serious...
Oh my gosh!!!!!!! I just went to the Dr. 2 months ago 'cause I've been feeling so sick before and during menstration. Never had any problems before. I'm 34 and he also said that my body is changing.
He actually put me on the pill (which I hate taking) to see if it would help.
My dh thinks that it has :)
I think that it may have but I am breaking out like CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else experience this???????
Hang in there, I just think that it is part of getting older!! Ugh!!!!!!
