I accidentally bought HE laundry detergent yesterday. I tried looking up online what the difference was between the HE and the reg. and all I could find was to use the HE in front loader washers. I have a regular washing machine. Can I still use the HE detergent or do I need to take it back to the store? Also, if I do use it in the regular washer do I use more, less or the same amount I always use? TIA

I found this

Front loader - needs special (HE) detergent

Front load washers require a special detergent. Look for a detergent that says "HE" (High Efficiency) on the box. Be aware that HE detergent produces low amounts of suds. When a front loader is washing using this proper detergent it should almost appear as if there is no detergent in the machine. Also be aware that the amount of HE detergent required per load is less than for a top loading machine.

Do not use regular detergent in a front load washer. If regular detergent is used in a front load washer it can cause the machine problems such as leaking at the door or poor washing. Using the incorrect detergent can even void your warranty.

Hum... 8o I didn't know that you were suppose to use a different kind of laundry detergent for front loading washing machines. :) Good thing to know. (just in case I ever got one) LOL

I have a front loader and the HE is a low sudsing detergent. Since front loaders use so little water, you need a HE kind of detergent because it is easily rinsable.

Amy- will I need to use a different amount of soap if I use it in a regular washer? Or is the only difference that it is low sudsing?

I wonder if it's a difference like between regular and ultra?

I would think if the machine uses more water then the front loads then you may use a little more ?(

I'm beginning to wonder if it wouldn't just be easier to return it and trade it in for the right stuff?? LOL Hopefully they'd take it back... :) You're going to have to let us know how it works if you do decide to use it... LOL :)

I'm sure they would take it back. I have no problem using it though. I just had no clue how much to use. LOL I thought someone else might know.

From what Vea posted sounds like its a sorta concentrated one... which would mean use less but does the same good job .. I think I would treat it as a concentrate and go from there ...
With it being low suddsing reminds me of Shaklee's .. it is concentrated and very low suddsing ..
So why not try it and see what ya think; trying say like maybe 1/4 less than you normally use ???

Vea .. They have many things .. I use the basic H around there alot. And the detergent : the small box .. I think its a 10 lb box ?? something like that, will do alot of laundry .. I think it lasted us about 5 mts one time (& there was like 6 people in the house for most of that time and 3 were kids). And you only use like a "coffee" scoop per FULL load .. if you do buy it; make sure that first you run a wash with nothing but the soap in it, it cleans out your machine of left over residue, otherwise your whites will be dingy .. and I do mean dingey .. made that mistake once won't make it again ..
Go to .... www.shaklee.com ... you can see alll the products there.

ooppss I hope I haven't over steped on this ...
sorry if I have .. didn't mean too ...

My folks used to be Shaklee distributors and I recommend all of their products, too. We used all of the products when I was growing up and Mom still swears by them. :)
