I'm starting the morning thread?? Something is just not right about that! lol
Dd#2 ended up going home with FIL/MIL and came home this morning about 8:30. She actually stayed the whole night! I am keeping 2 dn's this summer and they are here now. I need to get breakfast going. Already did the laundry and cleaned the rest of the kitchen up that I didn't get to last night.
Say a prayer for brichard, he is hoping to hear about a new job within his company tomorrow. He is very excited about it.
Have a great day everyone!

Not sure if I have to go to the school today or not for anything else but need to pop in at lunch for ds2 real quick. Nothing else planned but need to get at the laundry and housework today. Our air conditioner died and it's boiling here. We put a fan in our window sucking in air from outside and when I went to bed last night there were all kinds of disected tiny flies on my bed. ugh! so much for the fan. I'm sure dh will have it fixed soon, he hates being this hot. I could live with it though, better than 30 below. LOL
Hope you all have a good day :)

Angie- Prayers for Brichard are said. I hope he gets the new job!
Mel- I hope your air gets fixed soon. I could NOT live without mine. I would much rather be cold than hot... you can always add more clothes, but there are only so many you can take off. LOL!!!
Not a whole lot planned here today. Dh is back at work, and I have gotten caught up on the laundry, but I have some little things I need to finish. (rugs, little loads, etc) My goal today is to get my pantry cleaned out and take off the garbage since it is open today. The dump won't be open tomorrow, so hopefully tomorrow I can finish packing the baby's room so that all that is left is moving out the bed and dresser and painting, then moving in the new furniture. I am looking for a big red throw rug to put on the floor in there, so hopefully I will be able to find it soon. I am going to get the curtains today, and I already have the curtain rod, so maybe I can even get them put up. Wednesday, I hope to get the freezer and the deep freezer cleaned out and all that trash carried off. Then I need to do another thorough sweep on the entire house. I am hoping that with me being off, it will be easier to keep clean.
Anyways, I am done rambling.... Have a great day everyone!!!

Amen to that!
Prayers sent for Brichard! Let us know asap, Angie! :)
I don't want to do anything today (this is becoming a theme of mine  ) but I need to. Babysitting a friend of dd's until about 2:00. Need to run some groceries over to our friends and then head to knitting at 1:00. Ds1 has math at 1:00, dd1 leaves for work at 1:00 and dd2 has math at 2:30. Parts of the house look like a tornado hit, but it's mostly the kid's rooms and school/playroom. It's the kid's job to get it cleaned up. My job is to crack the whip, right? Tonight's my night out! :yippee:
Dh and dd leave for the Grand Canyon this week. Dd is so excited she can hardly see straight. :D Dh will leave with an early group late Friday night to get the duffle bags there for the horses to take down, then they'll try to get a primo campsite set up before anyone else gets there. The rest of the group will leave early Saturday morning and camp halfway down Saturday night. They'll get to the campsite sometime Sunday morning.
So far I don't have any plans for the kids and I while they're gone, but we'll come up with something.
Hope ya'll have a great day!
getting kids off to school....last full day, I believe tomorrow and Wed. are both half days.....I go back to the doctor today at 9:00 gee having this week off would have worked for me. finger tips are numb off and on, but that could be from lack of usage.
I wonder if I get a clean bill of health if I will go back today or tomorrow?
Good morning. Sure took me a while to get through all the weekend posts, but glad I took the time to read them. Was late getting into work today as some company came to fix the crack in our slider door frame that happened when the contractor's installed it. I'm glad I stayed home for them. The messages on the answering machine had me confused. The contractor said the company would arrange a time to come, then 2 min. later the next message on the machine was from the company saying that they'd be meeting with my contractor on this date/this time. For some reason when I got up this a.m., I wondered if the contractor would show, so I called work and said I'd be late...I was right, lol.
Working today. It's starting to clear up after having rained through the night. It was a hot humid weekend, but yesterday it was very windy too...couldn't sit out long, but I made it through dh's baseball game and came away with the nastiest, dryest, straw feeling hair! I hate that, lol.
Saturday I went to a baby shower then hosted a party for MIL's husband who turned 80 yesterday. It was a good turn-out. Our city celebrated multi-culturalism this weekend so Sat. night dh and I went to some festivities. DS went to a movie and spent the night at a friend's.
Just spent a quiet late afternoon and night at home yesterday. Ds gave dh some new shorts for Father's Day.
Dropping my car off at the shop tonight to get new brakes/rotors and a good tune-up tomorrow.
I took the day off and slept till 9!!! Father's Day was interesting. On dd's birthday, step monster had told dd something about her dancing skills that hurt her feelings. I don't think she meant it badly, but dd took it that way and was really upset. She didn't even want to invite them to her show. I had been telling her she needed to talk to her and clear the air. She did last night and was really very mature about it. Well, step monster the self centered woman that she is totally attacked dd and went on the defensive. It would have been so simple (and mature) to say 'oh sweetie, i would never do anything to hurt you, i am so sorry that you took it that way' and go on instead she got her feelings all hurt and the proceeded to pout through out the whole dinner!!! Talked to dad this am (and I had already told him about how upset dd was and asked a while ago if he would talk to sm) and of course he was confused as always. I point blank told him that I was very disappointed in his wife and how she handled it. That one of the participants was 12 and the other wasn't and wasn't it amazing that the 12 year old behaved more maturely than the 'adult'. He did agree with that.
Fun! Fun! Fun!
speaking of a/c..we got a new one and it's so nice. ours had been on it's last leg for 5 years and we kept limping it along.
got a dentitst appointment at 1.

I'm being lazy again today...on vacation...ok gotta clean this pig sty....nothing else exciting here...Have a great day!
Busy day at work. I need a nap! Came out of work to a flat tire. Called dh and he wasn't in the office nor was anyone else. I ended up calling my friend who brought me home. Dh called just before I got here. He's hoping to get the tire changed and then come pick me up to drive back to work to pick it up. I hope he can get it taken care of.

Ok, the pantry is cleaned out! :yippee: Now I need to run into town. Dh wants the oil changed in his truck, and I am getting mine detailed. YEAH!!!
Ann- I am glad that your dd handled things so maturely, and I am also glad that your dad realized it. I hope things get better between them soon. Did you ever get enough hours to cover your insurance? I hope so.
Jen- I hope your dh gets your tire fixed soon.
Pam & Vea- I hope you get your house cleaned.
Bev- Glad they got the crack fixed. Don't you hate mixed messages.
Renee- I hope you get a clean bill of health.

Eww! Do ya'll not have screens in your windows?? On cool nights we'll put the fan in the window, but it doesn't pull bugs in.
Hope it gets fixed quick! I hate being hot.

I CAN HEAR!!!! :yippee: Was out and decided to go on to the dr. and have them take care of my ear and I'm 100%!!! Yay!!
Went to in law's yesterday after my dh had a fit and got all bent out of shape. All he can see is his side and how an issue between mil and myself is none of his business.... well honey, not exactly. Anyway. I was quiet and I would not be surprised if dh got a call from his parents asking what was up with me. I was very cool and about gagged on his bil's behavior and how wonderful he is and how well he's doing, blah blah blah. YUCK!
Got last minute stuff for dd to take to camp tomorrow, now just have to work 5-8.

Dd #3 came over brite and early this morning on her way home from work so she could see/visit with her dad and give him his card seeing she couldn't make it over yesterday. (She needed to sleep because she had worked all night) Her/I went and ate lunch at Wendy's where she use to work at 10:00 because Dawn was dropping Sarah off at 11:00... :) We had a great time visiting with her old boss and some of the other people she use to work with. We got home in plenty of time before Sarah got dropped off. We sat and looked through some Wedding magazines and laughed at some of the weird dresses and hair do's...  Can't believe ANYone would be caught dead in some of those. REALLY bad! LOL She left at 12:00. :) Fed Sarah at 12:30 but she hardly touched anything. Then we went to the park to play... but there was this really weird/strange man who drove by real slow in this old red pickup, came back still driving slow staring at us as he drove. He came back and parked and proceeded to sit there and was watching us. I stared him down until he drove offm just to return two minutes later and parked/watched us again. Then he got out (which scared me) and walked over to the outhouse. I grabbed Sarah real quick and got her in her carseat and were drivnig away just as he was coming out. I drove around the block and when I came back he was gone. Don't know for sure what he was up to but he looked nasty and he really gave me the willies. I promised myself that if I ever saw him doing that again I'd call the police so they can see what he's up to.
Anyway... dh's home so I'd better get upstairs to make dinner. :(

Do you have a cell phone? I would have called and reported him and gotten his license plate..how scary!
Diane
06-19-2006, 05:35 PM
I had forgotten my cell phone at home. His plate was all bent/dented up (front and back) and I couldn't read his plate # for anything. I just didn't like the way he looked or the way he was looking at us. Something just didn't feel right about him.
Hi all!
For my reward for looking for Flynn tiredlessly through the forest in my back yard, I got poison ivy all over my legs  I am surprised it took so long to show up because I was walking in barefeet most of the time. LOL
I put a call into the police department who handled the baby ferret in the neighboring town. He was thrilled that I wanted to pick him up. He said he is going to talk to his boss tomorrow to get permission and then little Munch can come home. It's ironic how much effort I put into a private bred ferret because I didn't want a pet shop ferret, now I am getting a pet shop ferret. :grimace: We decided on Munch because he was found coming into the house munching on dog food. Munchkin will be is nickname cause he is so tiny. I still hope Flynn decides to show up, though I no longer think he is in the general area.
Boss decided to have a talk with me. That crazy coot has been trying to change his little personality because enough people have told him he is porky. LOL He is concerned that my job there is low on the totem pole and I think he is jealous about our business and how much of my time is taken with that. When I interviewed with him last Sept. I had NO idea how busy dh would be. I thought we have lived through the worst, yet it is so much more busy than last year. We both have different memories about me taking this job. I tried to be honest and tell him I need the flexibilty and he said I promised I would be the grounding force around there. I remember him "persuading" me into being the grounding force there. LOL Regardless, he is feeling jipped and is trying to shame me into finding someone to work for dh and commiting more time there. Can you imagine? Hiring someone to do work in my home while I am a slave there? I would probably profit $3 an hour and that doesn't include child care for the days that I can't get my parents to come over  As much as I love it there, he wants more from me and I just don't have an ounce more to give. I think he needs a fulltime person, so I should probably try to quit again. He really doesn't like that solution because of all the time it took to train me and he really likes me. Then I can volunteer there and still torture people but only when I feel like it. :D I don't know if I will like being home fulltime again.
Wow Amy, being home for just a week was so wonderful...
Think hard about what YOU and DH want NOT what Boss man would like....
How great that things are really picking up for your home business....
I got a released back to work with light duties....have to wear my brace while working....Its really cold at work, no one will talk to me....its so childish. But whatever they have said about me, I smile and am plesant....fun fun fun...NOT
I had lunch with a friend at a cute little mexican place....
dh is making homemade pizza for dinner tonight...can't wait...

Sista, yes we have screens but these little buggers fit right through those tiny holes and with the fan sucking them in... Tonight, we can do without the fan, it's very breezy here and much cooler so it should be a good night for sleeping. And the wind will keep the bugs away. These ones were attracted to the light and I had my window open.
Glad you can hear! :)
Angie, any news for Brichard about the job?
Amy, that sucks you got poison ivy. Great about the business picking up though! :)
Diane, how scary. Maybe the cops could have looked for him if they had a description of the vehicle even without the licence, I would call if he showed up again.
Ann, what a miserable woman. Geesh. Glad your dd was so grown up about it, I'm sorry she was hurt but she should be proud of how she handled the situation.
I'm making a ridiculous amount of chocolate lolli-pops to stick in rice crispy treat in an ice cream cone for the kids to bring to school for their classes. Nearing the end but still need to fill the cones. Am waiting to do that part in the morning.
Bev, glad the party was a good turn out.
Amy, I can't help it, but every time you post about Flynn, I hear the theme song "Born Free................"

Amy, if you quit that job does it mean you have to be home full time? I know the perfect part time jobs are few and far between but does it have to be either or?
Congrats on saving another little guy - I'll keep hoping Flynn will turn up or find another family as loving as yours to take him in.
Ann, I know you were more proud of your dd and the way she acted as opposed to as upset about how your dad's wife acted. She knows she was the smaller person, I'm sure. It's hard place she's in too... I only say that b/c my mom is a stepmom and hear her anguish over situations and so often feeling on the defense. I am really sorry she behaved that way. Tell dd congrats on the show for me, k? Good for her!
Pam, hope dh and dd have a GREAT time!!
Anige, any news with Brich's job??
Home from work and finished gathering up dd's stuff for camp tomorrow. If anyone has room on their prayer list, could you just add her to it? She's fine about going, but I"m the leary one. She's never been this far from home for 3 days and 3 nights w/out dh or me. (and she's not THAT far). LOL
I never went away from home, so I guess it's my own anxiety... she's fine. But still would appreciate some safety prayers. TIA :)

Jen... I'm so glad you can hear again. I'll bet that's a relief... :)
I'll be keeping your dd in my thoughts and prayers. I felt the same way when my dd was away from home for the first time. (I didn't sleep a wink either... :( )
Ryleigh... hope you and dh have a great weekend alone together. :) It sounds like you've been busy and need the rest.
Melody... I hope you got your air conditioner fixed. :( We just got a new one last year, the other one was the origional to the house so was very old and on it's last leg. I hate the heat/humidity and don't do well with it. LOL
Renee... I'm so sorry everyone is acting so stupid/childish. I hope you'll hear some good news about your job interview. I know it isn't easy but hang in there... (((HUGS)))
Leigh... glad you got your pantry done.
Amy... sorry to hear about the poison ivy. I got it a few years ago on my arm when I was in my mom's woods looking for her dog. It's awful and was hard to get rid of. Can't wait for you to get your new ferret. I love why you're calling him (nick) munchkin... Gotta wonder who's ferret it was... and you've got to know they probably felt just as bad about his loss as you felt about Flynns. Someone just like you probably took Flynn in and is enjoying having him just like you're going to enjoy welcoming Chance in your home.
AnnW... I can't believe our step monster and how she over reacted... 8o Whether she meant it or not, she hurt your dd's feelings... and for that she should be sorry. I'm so glad that your dad agreed that his wife handled it badly and I hope he told her so if/when it was brought up between the two of them.
JAK... Bummer about the tire. :( I hope you were able to get it fixed.
Vea... Hope you got your apartment cleaned.
Angie... Did Brichard hear anything about the job yet? Hope he gets some good news real soon...
Sarah got picked up at 3:30 so I quick ran down to Home Depot and picked up a few more plants/flowers. I got a bunch of petunia's for the front step flower pots and they look so nice. Made dh some grilled cheese sandwiches and a salad for dinner... I wasn't hungry enough to want to eat. Went out on my bike for a while and was greeted by my neighbors in my driveway when I returned. They asked me if I'd take care of their dog when they go on vacation at the end of July... so I guess I'll be dog sitting. That conversation ended when my cell phone rang. It was Dawn letting me know that she was on her way over. She was on her way home from work and had such of a bad migrane headach she could hardly see to drive. I gave her something for it and it only took a little while before it kicked in, so she left. :) Talked with dd #3's. I guess she's got another dr. appointment in the morning for her breathing problem. Whatever it is they gave her isn't working because she's still having problems. They've ruled out everything physical and they seem to think it's an anxiety problem... :) Hoping they'll be able to give her something that works. Man... I thought I worried so much about my kids when they were little/young, but I think I worry even more about them now that they're adults. LOL Don't think it ever gets better.

oh..i am sure she is anguishing (is that a word??) but not because of hurting dd's feelings but over how 'once again, she has been wronged and she tries oh so hard to be good to us and why won't be just accept her and she is doing her best married to this man who is still mourning and she just doesn't know what to do and it's so hard on her and no one understands.......'

Ok, this is the news on brichard. This is the job that he has wanted. She said she had to go through the formality of interviewing and had already set up his interview before even posting the position. So, if nothing changes, he will be offered the job on Friday after the interviews. If the money is what we are expecting he will definately accept it. It also includes a company car, which will be oh so nice. He will start the new position July 1st and start having weekends off again and be able to go to church. He is so excited! As an added bonus he will still collect all the commissions from the houses he has sold on top of his new salary and should go on the sales trip this fall. We might actually be able to get ahead! Thanks for listening and keeps the prayer coming!

I don't think dh and I require a lot of sleep. :) We haven't been going to bed until almost 1:00AM and the alarm is going off at 6:30/7:00. Sometimes were even awake before that. LOL I have a friend who can't function unless she's got a good 8-1/2 to 9 hours of sleep and if she doesn't, needs to lay down and take a nap in the afternoon. LOL If I ever took a nap in the afternoon I probably wouldn't get to bed until almost 3:00. :biglaugh:

Diane, i doubt seriously dad will say anything, when i told him about the situation a week ago he told me to have dd talk directly to her.
OH OH OH!!! Can I relate to that!! I'm sorry, nothing I hate more than someone relating your pain to their issues, but here I go.
Dh and I are going thru the same d@mn sort of thing, only it's me and not dd involved. Mil has hurt me and hurt me and hurt me and he refuses to speak to her or call her on her comments when she makes them (even to him).
He told me it's MY issue and not his and for me to deal with it.
WHY CAN'T SOMEONE JUST STAND UP FOR US ONCE IN A WHILE??!
He has to realize now that if he makes me deal with it, nothing will ever be the same... no matter how nice I'll try to be about it all.
Ok. Sorry to make you issue about me, but I understand both sides of the step parent thing. Hang in there, I hope it gets better but it sounds as if she's ultimately very immature. ((((hugs))))

HOOOOOOORAAYY! What great news!!!! :)

No they didn't have modified work for me....ie the phones, actually they had three temps since I was out and none came back more than two days in a row...LOL...funny....
Maybe that will get them to think twice before letting you go. :) Some people don't realize how good they've got it until you're no longer there to do it for them. Hope you hear something from your interview soon. :)
Hang in there, I hope it gets better but it
sounds as if she's ultimately very immature. ((((hugs))))
Dh used to do that with me with my MIL too. She used to say really obnoxious things about me and thought I instigated many of the problems between her and dh when I did nothing. Dh really didn't want to choose between his Mom and his wife, so basically he agreed with me, but did nothing to her face. I think he just thought I was the stronger of the two, so I should turn the other cheek especially since he agreed with me. Your right though, it would be nice for them to speak up for us ONE time. I think the only time dh has EVER spoken up is when crazy neighbor threatened me and I called dh on what what exactly did that mean. He called crazy neighbor to clarify and make sure it wasn't a threat. I guess they think we are strong and can handle ourselves, though it would be nice to have some valor.
No they didn't have modified work for me....i
Guess I don't see the difference between light duties and modified, lol.
Jen and Ann...I am sorry you have those MIL's and step-monsters in your life. I'm not sure I'd be handling it and "being the bigger person". I just don't think I'd involve myself in their lives any more.
This is a little different in that she would make his life hell too!!! When they were leaving Sunday night, dh turned to me and said 'your poor dad, you know she is going to rip him a new one'. I sure hope whatever she gives him is worth all this.

That is just terrible. You know, though...your Dad could choose to take his own advice, and stand up to her and not let him take it out on him either. Poor guy!

That is so sad. I'm really sorry that you (and the rest of your family) are having to deal with her.

Angie - Hope Brichard gets the job!
Ann - Ugh to families sometimes! You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Renee - What a tough situation. Hope you can get a new job soon.
Sista - You're dd is going to have SUCH a great time! Just keep thinking about that and she'll be home before you know it.
Amy - Hope Flynn comes home soon, and your poison ivy goes away asap. I'm highly reactive to that stuff.
Pam - I'm envious your dh/dd are going to the Grand Canyon. We went once during college and I'm dying to go back with dks. We had a blast!
Vea - Enjoy your vacation!

I so feel for you guys dealing with your step parent issues. As sad as I feel about having no contact with my dad at all, I feel better off not having to deal with the constant stress of the day to day drama.
I'm guessing brichard has the job since his new boss called and asked him to teach the new recruits a sales and marketing class on his day off this week. The day before his "interview." lol I think this might start sinking in...!!!!

sometimes i think the biggest mistake i ever made was showing dh that i was independent and could take care of myself.

Yeah!!!! Hope Brich get it! Will he still have to drive long distance for the job?
No, the corporate office is where he will work now and it's about a 45 minute drive. Plus with a company car we don't pay for gas anymore. He'll get off work at a decent time now too.

I believe I was being shown that I was easily replaceable. But things didn't work out that way. JMO
