This little article appeared in our local paper this week and some of the anecdotes were so funny and cute. Thought we could answer it here.
Our dog's name is Lincoln :doggie: . He is a male chocolate lab. Initially when we were looking for a breeder, we couldn't find one that was going to have chocolates ready for when we wanted one. So we decided on a black. Dh really liked an old song about a black Lincoln car called "Hot Rod Lincoln". We thought Lincoln was a great name for a big male dog, so we kept it.
Strangely enough, when Americans meet him, they assume he is named after your penny, because it has Abraham Lincoln on the back of it!
PS Does anyone else think the dog icon looks like a cat?? lol!

I thought that icon was a cat?!!
We don't have a dog but I once had a dog and named him Toto. From the Wizard of Oz. I was living alone 8 hours from "home" and I felt like Dorothy......"there's no place like home"

My dogs name is Tiffany and we didn't name her that for any specific reason. We let the girls pick out the name and thats the only name that they could agree upon. :)
Diane...
We kept looking every few days at various animal shelters around until we found our little shih tzu. Her name is Precious, because she is just that. She is the sweetest little dog. She's getting a summer do right now. She should be ready at 3:00.

Our Lhasa-poo's name is Abbey Road. We're big Beatles fans. It really annoys me when people call her Abigail. ;) LOL!

Our Newf is named Pandora because that's about the only one dh and I could agree on. I really wanted Molly but he wanted names like Thunder (for a girl??) so I agreed to Panda and then settled for Pandora with Panda for short. But we never did start calling her Panda, Pandora suits her better. A little trouble maker but lovable all the same.
She is going to get weighed today so we know how much of the heart worm pills to give her. If she's over 50 pounds she will need two pills. She's five months old and probably close to the 50 by now.
:doggie: yes the icon looks very close to the cat....we name Max, Maximus Cesar Colorado....maximus Cesar from the movie Gladiator...we loved it...and Colorado is the fathers name so we put them all on his papers...oh well I know its silly....but you asked...LOL...
It's not silly at all. I love that name.

We don't have a dog but I had one as a kid. A Teri-poo, named Penny. We called her that because when we first got her at six weeks old, she was ' little, brown, round, had a head on one end and tail on the other' my dad named her. I did have two Trixie's before her. Don't know how thy got named, I was too young.
I agree about the dog icon, -- looks more like a mouse.
Speaking of mouse - the woman I boarded with while in collage had a black cat named Mouse.
We have a German Shepherd named Bella, short for Bellisima which is Italian for beautiful. She is a classically marked shepherd and the prettiest one I've seen for a long time. :) (brag, brag, brag!) Her nickname is bat girl because she has the batman emblem on the top of her head!
We had a shepherd mix named Micha (pronounced Meesha) and a Maltese named Muffie. Not really sure how we came up with those but my sil gave them middle names. So when they were in trouble it was Michalou and Muffie lee!
Here are some of the other names.... (we've had tons of pets!)
Punkin ~ apricot poodle (papers were Golden Boy)
Ebony ~ black Terripoo
Pepper ~ Australian Shep white, with black spots
Zeke ~ cairn terrier
Thunder ~ red chow/ golden retriever mix (coolest dog!)
Bruiser ~ black and tan coonhound/shepherd mix (aptly named I might add!)
Oliver ~ black lab mix
Dusty ~ fluff coated mutt

Had a collie mix as a boy that we called Sooner because he would sooner pee on the floor than go outdoors LOL
Had a Hampster called Dizz, because he would run on his wheel until he was dizzy and couldn't walk straight. (my older brother called him Lush)
Had a cat called Clarence. don't know why.
Had a pig called Myrtle but won't get into that story.
