Hi .. I am new here and I'm struggling with a severe form of roseacea.. I'm soon to be thirty five, and I was diagnosed about 4 years ago.. I have been on the following treatments, rosanil facial scrub, finacea topical, metro-gel topical, nicomide-t topical, doxycycline oral, and tetracycline oral.. and nothing seems to work.. the redness I can deal with, its the yucky, and I do mean yucky pimple like outbreaks that seem to come from nowhere.. I have kept a journal of my daily intake of food and beverage and we cant narrow anything down from there.. I understand there is no cure for this, but my outbreaks occur every 3-4 weeks and can last upwards of two weeks.. my dermatologist has suggested accutane.. has anyone tried this treatment?? If so I would like any feedback I can get... Thanks !!!!! :)

i have rosacea also, but a milder case than you. It sounds like you are using a ton, perhaps too many, products. I know any kind of scrub is really not recommended. Have you tried just stopping all that, washing your face with something gentle like Cetaphil or Dove sensitive and then using a mild moisturizer? I have been using the Eucerin Redness Relief Line and really like it. I know the general rule of them is the milder the better.
A good resource is www.rosacea.com
good luck.

oh another thought, for the pimples, BHA's are supposed to be good. I have heard good things about Paula's Choice BHA lotion.

Currently Im on the tetracycline, rosanil, nicomide-t and finacea, I brought this up to my doc, about having too many products on at one time.. I thought of using only the oral antibiotic and actually switching to an anti-bacterial soap and just using those two for a while and see how that works..what do u think??

Sorry .....No help here...just wanted to say hi.

I also agree it's sounds like too much stuff at once...The only things I use on my face is Oily of olay soap....And Avon has a medicated wash that I use maybe once or twice a week.

Hi! I'm 41...and struggling with rosacea also! I've recently had good success with minocycline (pills). This has really cut down on the "flushing"...and hot cheeks sensation. Also...I use the Eucerin products that Ann recommended. I use the green tinted lotion (moisturizer?)...and also the cleansing product. Love them. I was having alot of problems this past year (two?) with painful "cystic" acne. Along with the Minocycline product...I was also put back on the birth control pill. A very low dose...and basically to clear up the "acne", and to help with the heavy periods I was having. (Sorry if too much info!) Anyway...this has REALLY helped! I haven't had any of the painful acne cysts...and my skin looks great. While I'm not overly thrilled to be taking the pill again...it's worth it at this time to have less skin issues. I'm also wondering if the minocycline is helping my rosacea...or if the pill is actually helping it??

My sister went to a dermatologist for her son and he said Dove soap is the most gentle soap you could use on your skin. More milder than Ivory.

I don't know that it would be of help to you or anyone for that matter;
but I eat raisins to keep the blood cleared up. As a very young child I had trouble with boils. And the doc back then told mom to have me eat a handful of raisins a day.
And as long as I do that I have not had to deal with blackheads, zits or any of that stuff. but the instant I stop taking them I get the boils, to this day, + the blackheads.
I have never had a doc explain why this works like it does. But it works for me.
just an idea for ya to think about.

Ok all, it's been a few weeks and here is what I've come up with.. I'm using my tetracylcline, dove moisturizing soap, and believe it or not, salve that my mom-in-law gave me, although this weather is not helping any, my regimen seems to be working for now :happydnc: Thanks to all I'll keep in touch!!!!
