I haven't nor have any of my dks. (knock on wood!) Dh has playing football back in the day.

Just wondering if you've ever broken a bone and how it happened. How about your dks?

Okay, I guess I did break a toe when dh and I were first married, but I didn't go to the dr - it was a self diagnosis LOL and I was told they wouldn't do anything for it anyway. Think I posted the story before - but I fell off of my bike when we were riding in the dark. :o

Dd1 broke her foot almost four years ago. It was one of the bones along the side (rt. foot, pinkie toe side). She was running across the street to Mom's, all excited because they were going camping. She slipped on their carport and slid into the door frame. They went camping anyway, but dd didn't do a whole lot, lol. We took her to the ER the next day and since it was still so swollen they took x-rays, wrapped it and told us to take her to her doc on Mon. Monday the doc was still undecided as to whether or not it was broken so they sent her to an orthopedic doc. He put her in a shoe cast and she was on it for over two months, almost three. It was quite a while after that before it finally stopped bothering her. We have pictures of her on crutches in the hospital room when ds2 was born. :)

I haven't but ds#2 did when he was 6. After school one day he was playing on the monkey bars while I finished up in my room. I heard him scream and went running out my back door. As soon as I saw his arm which literally looked like a step (both bones clearly broken and dislodged) I said "Oh my god!". Ds immediately stopped crying and asked what was wrong. I then had to switch to mom's calm and you're really ok mode. Local hospital wouldn't touch him and we had to take him to a bigger hospital and an orthapedic surgeon for surgery that night. Of course as soon as they wheeled him into surgery I broke down in tears.

I broke my wrist when I was about 13 or so.

Ds1 has broken his wrist twice. He broke one wrist when he was 8...and jumping on/off a bed at a friend's house. About 18 months later...he broke the other wrist while playing a ball game in our school's gym (at the afterschool program).

Ds2 and Dh haven't broken any bones (knock on wood!!).

I broke my middle finger when I worked at CENEX. I was in charge of running the press machine. One of the origioinal copies had gotten dirty, so it was printing out dirty copies. Well instead of stopping the machine like I should have, I put the cleaning solution on a small piece of cloth and tried wiping it off while the machine was still running. :( Well... my hand got caught up in the rollers and I ended up with a broken finger. :( I've stubbed my toes several times to where I thought I might have broken them... but never went to the doctors so I can't really say for sure. Sure felt like they were. :(

Dh broke his collar bone once... fell off his mini bike. I don't think he's ever broken anyhing else. Dd #2 broke her ankle when she was about 11. We were camping (Over the 4th of July weekend) and she was running down a hill right after it had rained. It was wet/slippery and she twisted it real bad. It swelled up instantly and we ended up having to leave because there was no ice. We didn't take her in until the next morning and sure enough... it was broken. I thought that darn thing would never get better. Seemed like an eternity.

My mom broke her ankle a few years ago. I stilll don't quite know how she did it. She was standing on the bottom step in her house and I think her foot must have slipped off the step... and boom, there she was on the floor. Broken ankle... Amazing just how fast something like that can happen. :)

Nobody else has ever broken anything... and hopefully never will. :)

I truely believe that my finger is currently healing from a break....although the dr. said nope. It's like 5 weeks and I still see star if I bump it or use it wrong...or if someone (dbf) takes my hand.

DH has broken his toes many times, I just broke my little toe last week..my very first broken anything! :( DS never has (knock on wood). And dd has had that run of bad luck this year. Told her if she broke or sprained anything else they were going to think we were hurting her!

An older boy pushed me down when I was about 4 and broke my collar bone. Not sure what they do for it these days, but back then I had to wear a brace similar to football shoulder pads, and I wasn't supposed to run (yeah, right - I was 4!).

I broke my arm when I was in 5th grade on Christmas Eve by falling out of a tree. My cousins and I had a "fort", and they were all over and we were in it. My mom didn't take me to the hospital till Christmas day, and I spent the entire Christmas day at the hospital. Not even 6 months after the cast came off, I broke my finger at PE playing basketball. Of course there wasn't much to do for that.

Dh broke his arm in 7th grade riding his bike. His parents didn't take him to the hospital till a week later. By then they had to rebreak it. Dh says that is the absolute worst feeling in the entire world. He also messed up his ankle in high school playing football. I am not sure if it was broken or not, but he had to wear an air cast.

Actually dh's broken arm is how we met. He rode my bus and he had a yellow cast. I walked up and asked him how he did it. We became best friends after that. Then of course we didn't speak for 3 years, and when we started talking again, we started dating, and the rest they say is history. LOL!!!

What's an air cast?

It is like a cast, but it is blown up with air, and you can remove it to get in the tub and stuff. I really don't how to explain it. Maybe someone else can explain it better.

Dh's was so old, he had to blow it up with a straw.

How did you break your ribs?

James' mom was in a bad car accident a few weeks ago and came out of it with 6 broken ribs and a broken collar bone. 8o I can't imagine having 6 broken ribs. My sister had one and complained like crazy about how much it hurt...

I've never broken anything, same as the kids. Knock on wood. Dh had a broken leg when I was pregnant for ds2. He was in a full leg cast and not long after ds2 was born they put him in a walking cast. It still bothers him from time to time, especially when the big weather changes come.
Rhonda, hope your ribs feel better soon. Same as your toe Ann.

No broken bones here! I was always envious in school when someone would come in with a cool cast, I'm smarter than that now... lol!

Broke my colar bone, but didn't know it until after it had already healed. I was in a car accident years ago. They erayed me from head to toe didn't see anything sent me home. A few days later I was carrying something and my arm gave out and shoulder area was tender. I couldn't move my arm for a few days and even then it was sore for a few weeks. The dr said it was "just a strain on the muscles" from the jolt of the car crash and if it bothered me too much keep in in a sling for a bit. He gave me some anti-inflamitories and sent me home. A few years later I was having xrays done for something else (and a different doctor) When they came back the dr asked when I had broke my colar bone.... I was stunned... didn't know I had. The best we can figure is their must have been a slight crack that didn't show up on the original xray. Who knows....
I have had numereous sprains, but other than the colar bone no real break.
dh has broken several bones throughout his life. Foot skateboarding, arm and ribs in a motorcycle accident. More ribs car accident...
ds has broke teeth... but not bones
dd#1 broke her arm and finger at gymnastics,
I think other than one of the girls everyone in our house has had stitches for something at sometime in our lives though.
