Our family wants to take a vacation to the Florida coast in February, but don't know which area would be the most fun. I don't care if it is ocean side or gulf side, but just a real laid back vacationy spot that has clean beaches.

Some of the areas I was looking at is Sandestin, Sanibel Island, Naples and Amelia Island. Do you have any suggestions? TIA

Sandestin is really touristy and over priced! plus really congested.
Sanibel and Amelia Island are gorgeous. here's a good article on Sanibel, http://www.visitflorida.com/cms/d/family_fare.php
Naples is full of old jewish people! LOL

New Symrna is nice, very laid back. no high rises. it's on the Atlantic side

St Pete's, Ft Walton is a nice area too.

oohh, that is exactly the kind of inside info. I was looking for! So Sandestin is out. From the sound of it, Naples is out too. Not fair adding NEW ideas to my list! I am supposed to be deducting here from the overwhelming choices. LOL

okay, how is this for spontaneous with a recommendation from Ann? We are going to stay here for our February break. http://www.sanibelcollection.com/seaside%5Finn/ It got great reviews on Tripadvisor also. It is prime season, but it will be so nice to be on the beach and not waiting in line at a Disney ride. LOL

I can vouch for St. Pete's area...Indian Shores, Clearwater, etc. Very nice area.

Marco Island is south of Naples and very nice too! Not as expensive though.

NYS has a funny vacation schedule. At the end of February, we have a week off called Winter break. We also have a week off in April and that is our Spring Break.

I know isn't that the weirdest thing.
