My family is coming on the 30th for a brunch to celebrate the wedding. Any ideas for food? We'll have Mimosas and I like Renee's Nantucket Lemonade idea, but I guess I should serve some food with my alcohol, huh?
Food??????? ok let me think, the drinks sound fabulous

Give me some time to pull out my breakfast casserole recipe, and I will post that. How about muffins, hashbrown casserole, donuts. If I think of more, I will post them when I post the breakfast casserole recipe.

Here are some ideas that have been posted in the past.
www.recipegoldmine.com is loaded with recipes to pour over
From Ann - http://southernfood.about.com/libra...s/blpage16a.htm
From Karla -
Sausage Egg Bake:
2# Jimmy Dean sausage
1 box seasoned croutons
2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
4 eggs beaten
2 1/2 cups of milk
3/4 teaspoon of dry mustard
1 can cream of celery soup
1/2 cup of milk
grease well 9 x 13 pan
layer in pan in this order:
croutons, cheese, cooked meat
combine eggs, milk and mustard; pour over the layered ingredients
cover and refrigerate overnight, in the morning combine the soup with 1/2 cup of milk and pour over the egg dish. Cover back up with foil and bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hrs.
I just did a search of posts. Maybe you can find more than I did. :)
I like to put out bagels and muffins on cake stands then have many flavored spreads to go with.

Here are some ideas that have been posted in the past.
Have I asked about this already?
6 servings
CRISCO Butter Flavor No-Stick Cooking Spray
6 slices white bread, crust removed
6 eggs
Salt and pepper
3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Chopped chives or parsley for garnish
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Lightly spray 6 muffin cups and both sides of trimmed bread slices with Crisco Butter Flavor No Cooking Spray.
Press one slice into each cup so that corners are over edges of cup. Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Remove from oven. Break one egg into each cup. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle each egg with bacon and cheese. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until eggs are set.
Garnish with chives and serve.

Have I asked about this already?
No, I don't think so. There are several of us that have asked for brunch ideas or reicpes in the past, so I just did a search.

You could put waffle mix in individual serving paper cups next to the waffle maker and let them "make your own waffle." Then you could have blueberries, choc chips, etc. to add if they like. Quiche is always yummy and easy to serve for a bunch. Ham, fried potatoes, french toast casserole... I'm getting hungry!

My recipe is almost the exact same as Karla's so there is really no point in reposting it...lol. I guess great mind's think alike!
Do want it to be a sit down meal or kind of a grazing meal?
I personally like grazing! LOL
How about migas?
It would be pretty easy to scramble the eggs ahead of time. Soft scramble them, stirr in a little butter and cheese and then put into a baking dish covered with foil and put in oven on low.
Serve with tortillas, beans, fruit, mimosas and ole'
I have a pretty good cheesy, sausage, spicy recipe that you do in a crockpot and then scoop it out and wrap into tortillas.
or do a bunch of different types of bagels and cream cheese and different types of sausages and fruit. you could even make those biscuit sausage balls.
to make it even fancier, get some smoked salmon and serve along with it.
you could spread this all out on your table and let everyone sort of serve themselves.
this sounds good too..you could have this on the table..something for everyone!
Overnight Caramel French Toast
---
1 loaf French bread
1/2 c. butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons Karo Syrup (corn syrup)
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
cinnamon
fresh fruit
---
Melt butter and brown sugar and karo syrup over medium heat stirring.
Bring to boil and then pour into 9 x 11 casserole pan. Slice bread into 1 inch
widths and lay over caramel mixture. Mix eggs and milk and
vanilla and pour over bread.
Sprinkle top with cinnamon and cover with plastic wrap.
Refrigerate over night.
---
Uncover and bake in 350 degree oven 45 minutes.
Serve with fresh fruit and syrup.
---
the more i think about it, if it were me, I would do the 2nd idea. It's easy on you and fairly impressive.
Go to Central Market and get a bunch of different kind of bagels and cream cheeses. They have a good selection. Get some smoked salmon there too.
If you wanted a meat, either make the sausage balls or just buy a bunch of different type sausages. You could keep them warm in a crockpot. Make a fruit salad (heck even use a watermelon as a bowl to show off).
If you want eggs, do something like this

you could also do grits in a crockpot.
I also have a great bread pudding that's made with crispy creme donuts!

Thanks ladies. I'll look at the recipes, Ann. I just ordered a ham, bacon and a coffeecake from Ham I Am. I'll pull the rest of it together this week.

Thanks for your help, gals. It went really well. There were about 20 of us here. I served ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, a sausage/egg/cheese/green chili casserole, croissants, cheese, fruit, coffee, mimosas, juice, coffee cake and donuts.
