:yippee:

We went to Grand Island last Friday for him to put in some applications. He spent over an hour talking to one employer at the Floor To Ceiling Store. It sounded pretty promising so he went back down today and talked with him again and accepted the job.

He will be driving back and forth every day, a little over an hour drive. I know that sounds tiring and expensive, but with the gas mileage his car will get, it will cost about $140/m for gas. To move there we couldn't find housing there that cheap. (Right now we don't have to pay rent on our house--really hoping the family won't change their mind about it either!) Also if he brings in business from this area he gets commission on the sales.

He won't be making as much as he was here, so I definitely need to find something to make up the difference (at least until he can get going on commissions).

He starts on Wednesday. He will be off and home earlier every day than he was working on the farm, and he only works 5 days a week!! No more Sundays!!!

It sounds really good right now. I'm sure in time I'll find complaints about it. Just remind me how good this really is! :)

Thank all of you so much for your prayers. I know that helped!!! :)

So glad to hear the good news about dh. Even if it isn't the greatest, it is a start and will give you some breathing room. I know right after we got married my dh lost his job. When unemployment ran out and still no good prospects he was forced to take a menial job in a hatchery. Talk about "stink". He had to strip in the mud room and when that job was over, we burned his clothes. We had some hard times but we held on until his current employer showed up. He's moved up in the company and still has opportunity for advancement. We are in a good place. You and your family will be again too. Too bad about the long commute, but it is better than uprooting your kids. I will continue to lift your family up in prayer. God bless.

I'm so happy for you and dh. What a relief it must be for you both. What about the job at the pre-school? Is it still open to you?
Once we move dh will still be driving about 45 min. - an hour to work from the area we are looking in. He in working 5 days a week right now (eight hour) but by fall the company is trying to get everyone on 4 day - 10 hour shifts. The third day off would change from week to week so that everyone gets a chance at a long weekend. There is also a possiblity that he could do some of the work from home over the computer. :computer: Don't know if I like that idea. Might have to invest in another 'puter. If I'm going to be home more, I will have more time to explore.

Keep us posted on how the job goes!!!

So what are you doing to celebrate???

Linda I'm so happy for you! It must be such a relief. Dh has survived two rounds of layoffs, and I'm getting nervous there is another round coming up. Are you still going to be working?

Thank you all so much!!!

He is at work as I type. It has really seemed strange today with out him around.

It is a relief, but I can't help but worry about making up what we'll lack. I think I have a pretty good chance of working at ddS preschool, but I don't think it will be enough. I think I could probably get on as a substitute at the schools and Head Start (maybe). The not knowing is the most difficult.

As for celebrating--it was supposed to be a surprise. I contacted some of his 'pretend' hunting friends from some of the message boards and chats he goes to. One, who owns the site, was going to set up a private forum that dh couldn't get into. On that forum they were telling everybody to send a birthday card to one of the friends. This friend is going to forward all the cards to dh under the disguise of a archery catalog. Well when the owner first put up the forum, it wasn't hidden from dh. He called me over to the computer and asked if I was behind it! He was pretty pleased that everybody thought that much of him. They have since hidden the forum from him so I'm not sure what kind of response there has been. I guess they are also planning a party in chat on the night of his birthday. dh is moderator so the owner is calling a moderators meeting so dh will be sure to be on. dh said he's just going to play along and not let them know that he knew anything about it.

Also, I've been planning a surprise bbq for him here on Sunday. The problem is that no one I've invited has let me know if they can come or not! :( Dh's brother is going to take him fishing to get him out of the house while the guests arrive --if there are any!

Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers!!
