View Full Version : Ann - What was your dd's reaction to her
room? I have been wondering what she thought of it....
I had closed the door so she had to open it. She opened it and then just stood there with her mouth open, her eyes got wide and she just sort of whispered 'oh mom, this is better than i ever thought it would be' and then she got all squeely! LOL
it really was like a moment out of Extreme Makeover! LOL

Oh how sweet!!!!!!!!! :) So glad she loved it.
I thought of you yesterday when we set up a twin bed in our playroom for one of dh's nephew's who's coming next month. It looks so cute with her old bedding we used to use and she loves it - it was all I could do to keep her from sleeping in there last night.
Nice work!! Now will you come to my house and re-organize it? LOL

I didn't catch what you did, but glad she liked it. Didn't you just redo her room? With a picket fence headboard or something? Tell me that wasn't like 5 years ago.

ok..i won't tell you it was 5 years ago, but i will tell you that wasn't me who did the picket fence! LOL
i just rearranged her room to look more 'grown up'.
thanks ya'll. i think this really demonstrates her age perfectly. She is getting close to 13 and wants her room to look grown up and 'cool', but in so many ways, she is still a little girl and that's why she wanted to keep all her dolls (but not in her room! LOL)
12 is such a 'straddle the fence' age..one leg in the teens and one leg still wanting to hold onto childhood.

Seriously? I'm losing my mind. Did you ever consider doing a picket fence headboard?

If you're losing your mind, I'm losing mine, too!!! Someone was talking about it at some point. (wonder who?)

I thought it was Amy. Didn't you stencil a fence and flowers, etc. in your dd's room?
I've seen the white picket fencing done as a headboard and it looks so neat! I took down dd's net over her bed so now that space "needs something".
I think it was Amy too. I don't do stuff like that. I move furniture or paint walls.
To be fair, when my dad was getting married and his wife was cleaning out his house, i got all my old bedroom furniture (that was also my mother's trouseau) for dd and we did redecorate it then (that would be 2.5 years ago)

I want to do that in dd's room when we switch it over from the baby stage. I bought a book that has really neat ideas in it. To go along with the picket fence theme you put trellises on the wall with hooks to hang things and then on the floor you can use big plastic flower pots as toy totes. Another idea is to do a window frame mirror with a "flower box" under it and then you put little galvanized cans or small terra cotta pots in it for their hair stuff. My other fav idea in there is to make a lamp using a watering can. :) I could obviously keep going, but I'll shut up niw. ;)

ROFL!! Do you realize how long it will take me to do all of that? IF I get to it all? LOL And, how much help I'd have along the way?
