View Full Version : Baked pumpkin
I just baked half of a pumpkin. :) I'm planning on pureeing it for breads, pies and muffins once it's cooled a bit. (as well as roasting the seeds) Just thought I'd share how easy it was. Mom cooked up pumpkin years ago and it only made a tiny amount. I just scraped the pumpkin, cut it in half and baked it like a squash, cut side down, for about 45 minutes. The rind (?) came right off, so I'm doing it this way again rather than try to cut it, boil it and cut the rind off. (I think that's what Mom tried)
We're looking forward to pumpkin bread now!

Sounds so good... :) Is there a recipe that goes along with this? I'm in a baking mood today. (not that I have a pumpkin to bake) LOL
Now that it's pureed it does seem a bit runnier than I thought it would be. I assume you could still use it in any pumpkin type recipe, just adding a tad more flour? I'm going to look for some pumpkin muffin recipes. :)

Did you use a pie pumpkin or a regular pumpkin?
Did you use a pie pumpkin or a regular pumpkin?
I didn't know there was a difference so I'm going to assume it was a regular pumpkin? It's a bit thicker now that it's settled some. I found my recipe for pumpkin bread so I think I might give it a go (if I can find some energy, lol)
Did the house smell fabulous too?
It sure sounds delicious, fresh pumpkin bread.

I've never had pumpkin bread before... but it does sound awfully good. I hope it turned out okay. :)
