Need to get off my butt and do a few things before I go to work today. I work 9-5 today and tomorrow. Not sure what I work or when after that. I hope to find out today. Had a busy, but fun weekend. Ds had his last soccer game and we spend the rest of the weekend with friends. Didn't get anything done around the house because of it.
I have no idea what to do today. I might actually get some x-mas shopping for the kids done. They are in that in-between stage where they don't play with toys anymore. It definitely make gift shopping a mental sport. LOL
got back from the inlaws late yesterday afternoon. it was fine.
dd is singing a solo in front of the whole school today, i have the day off, so i get to go! she was practicing last night and sounded really off key (after doing it fantastic every other time) so she flipped out and says she is not singing..so we will see. heard a crash about 4:30 this am and went to check it out. dd was fine, go into ds' room and he is on all fours holding his head and rocking back and forth...the shelf above his bed with trophies, a bat and autographed balls came down and hit him on the head. massive headache, now dizzy and blurred vision. i think he should get an xray, dh say's 'it's just a bump, of course he has a headache'..so i guess we will just watch and see.

I have bible study this morning, then I need to find a winter vest for ds. Is anyone wearing these this year? I remember wearing a sweatshirt and a goosedown vest in middle and early high school. Is it coming back?
Well, that's it for my exciting day, lol!

I hated it when my kids got in that in between stage. It was so hard trying to find something for them. It was always so much fun when you knew what toy they wanted and watching them unwrap their gifts. Now it's a bunch of gift certificates. I've got to find something better this year. LOL

I think I saw them on American Eagle's web site.

Work, home for family time..I have to get ds in for a trim on his long locks...LOL..guess its the style now, but he is starting to remind me of a sheep dog, since I can't see his eyes.....
Amy mine are basically out of TOY mode too....they do want some things for thier Nintendo DS's gotta get list from them after Thanksgiving.

Nah...that wouldn't be very "christmasy". LOL You just have to mix some surprises into it. I remember when I was that age and every gift I got, I had asked for it. It became so predictable that it wasn't even magical. Dd doesn't believe this year, so I might do a secret santa with her to show her the magic of giving to someone in need and not telling them. It would be great if we could think of someone we know in need or doesn't have much.
Did you keep ds home from school? Poor thing!
Today should be fun! :) The house is basically clean (okay, except for laundry, vacuuming the living room and sweep/mopping the kitchen floor, lol) so I'm feeling more chipper than I have in a while. The messiness factor of the house directly effects my outlook on life! Need to run to preschool later to pick up a fundraiser pizza order.
Dd2 has a bit more schoolwork than usual today because she's looking at a busy week, the little social butterlfly. She's spending the night at a friend's tonight, that friend is spending the night here tomorrow night and then dd is going camping with another friend Thursday and Friday night. :D So, we're doing extra today and Wednesday. If she doesn't get it all done then we'll do a bit more when she gets home from camping on Saturday. The family she's going with have invited us to go as well. I'm sincerely hoping that dh will want to go and will take ds2 as well. Next best thing to getting away is sending your family instead!
Tonight's my night out, so things are lookin' good. :)
Jen, how did your lunch(eon?) go on Friday? Did I miss a post?
Ann, I hope your ds is feeling better. :( Good luck to your dd!
Glad you're feeling better today, Renee!

I agree. I hate telling people what to get. I prefer knowing a persons likes and finding that "just right" gift. At my in-laws we basically just exchange money. What's that all about.

I picked my mom up early and got her to the grocery store. Her cousin from out of town called and wants to come for a visit for a few day's. This will be the first stay over company she's had since my dad passed away, and she's really REALLY excited about it, and I'm excited for her. I couldn't believe all the groceries she bought though... LOL Too funny. If I remember, this lady is just a peanut of a thing, and so is my mom... so I don't know who she thinks is going to eat up all this food. LOL
I don't have Sarah today but I do have lots of laundry to do. I still want to get outside to trim my bushes down, but not too sure if I'll get to it today or not. If not today... definitely tomorrow cause it really has to get done. Nothing else planned...
Hope you all have a great day today!

Yikes Ann! That had to hurt so badly. Hope his head feels better soon and good luck to dd!! :)
Amy, do you guys attend a church or is dd is scouts? Most of the time chruches and troops adopt a family. Do you have a Christmas Mother in your town? You may be able to adpot a family or better yet, when the Angel Trees come out at the malls, have her choose one to buy for. ;)

good lord, i couldn't imagine giving them everything on their list! but, i find, if i asked i can get a good hint on what direction to go if i am stumped. the usually get one or two things from their list from us, but there are also a few surprises. dd is still acting like she believes and ds has never said otherwise either! LOL
with other people, i want to know. some i know well enought to guess pretty well, but others (like my inlaws) they better tell me or i will get it totally wrong!

Ouch! Ann, hope ds feels better by now.
Good luck to your dd. How exciting. Maybe for singing a solo the principal will hand her a mic to use at home as a little gift! ;)
Amy, I am totally stumped for the oldest here too. Ds2, I can manage but ds1,yikes! No big ideas, a couple of smaller items. I hope he comes up with something brilliant that I can afford! lol
Took ds2 and ds3 to doc appts today. Ds3 needed a shot in the arm, the first time he backed up and complained/cried. I think it's because he knew it was going to happen before we left home and had the chance to think/work himself up over it. He has never acted like that before, he is a very tough kid who doesn't cry over nothing (not a tear when he broke his toe!). So, next time I will know to keep my big mouth shut before we get there.
Ds2, well, we are going to try the same meds ds1 is on. I am not very optimistic here but nothing else is working and I don't want him to lose the year. I will try for a month on the lowest dose, if it works great and if not, he's off. She wants to try one of the meds I am opposed to, not going to happen. It's bad enough he could be heading for an emotional rollercoaster with this, of course I can take him off at the first sign. But to start on some of that other stuff, no way.
Got the floors swept, need to get at the dishwasher and laundry. Ds1 starts basketball tonight. Practice is every Mon night for two hours as compared to the one hour last year. Maybe it's a level/age thing but I am not thrilled seeing it's on a school night and he needs up at 6. He would normally be in bed by 8:30 and here he's not done practice until 9. We'll see.
Hope you all have a good day :)

Dillydallied around the house today and met a friend for a bit for lunch. Such excitement.
Amy - I have been starting to think about Christmas shopping, too and need to get lists started of what I am going to buy everyone. And, as far as my kids - I am like Ann and get ideas from them, but they don't get everything and I have them give me enough ideas that they have no idea which ones I'll pick. ;) I love this time of year!!! :D
Ann - How scary about the shelf falling!!! So glad it wasn't any worse for your ds and hope it's not a concussion and his head feels better soon!!
Ann- how's ds's head. That's scary and OUCH!!!
Pam- lunch with the girls was fun. I have never done something like that before. They stayed for about 3 hours and we had a blast.

She is so musical! She has her own playlist on brichards ipod and ds is always giving her one of his earbuds to listen. She knows the words to lots of songs, I'll have to post her playlist, she has, I'm a believer, Dominic the Donkey, Photograph, Red Hot, The Things We do for Love, Grandma's Featherbed. There are more I just can't think of them right now.
I also have to add it was 79.99 and I found it on clearance for $29.99.

The cheapest I've found IPods are at Costco and they are still 200 bucks. Dd isn't THAT into music! lol So I figured if she had to put up some of her money to get one, she'd be more serious about using it.

Maybe for $29.99 I'd consider it for a 4 year old but musical or not, I think 4 is a bit young. IMHO
Dd got an MP3 player (from grandma) last year for Christmas (she was almost 12 at the time). My mil wanted to buy her an Ipod and dh and I said NO. We compromised with her on the MP3 player. Dd actually just wanted a portable CD player because hers was cheap and broke.

Just looked at the Nano @ WalMart and the 2G are 147.00 - still too much to spend on her for that but she wants it b/c you can play games on it, supposedly. Any ol' MP3 player won't do that as far as I know - but then again, I'm pretty technically illiterate. lol
Jen, you're lucky you're consulted on what your mil buys your dd. Mine bought dd a bike for Easter one year and last year for her b'day, she bought her a phone for her room. Dd isn't interested in the phone (thank goodness) and I thought that was over the top.... it's up to the parents when and if a kid gets their own phone in their room. jmo

Buying the Nano for ds was the best gift we've ever given him as far as time used. He'd rather have his ipod than the $300 PSP we bought him, plus you have to buy games for the PSP. but not every kid is as into music as he is.
Dd got her first MP3 player (Sansdisk 210) for $30.00 for her birthday. There is no way I would invest over that for an 11 year old. When she turns 16, then I will upgrade, but she doesn't even KNOW more than 20 songs that she likes.
Angie, I would be leary about getting such adult like gadgets for a 4 year old. :nervous:

That's what I thought about ds, too....does he even know/like enough songs to justify a Nano? I burned him a cd with about 15 of his favorite songs and he seemed to forget about the Nano after that. LOL I'm too scared that if he did have one that he'd want to take it everywhere and it'd end up lost - I just think he's too young for the expense and responsibility.

What ever happened to giving other peoples children a hat/mitt set or something to play with in the snow? I cannot stand it when my kids recieve huge expensive gifts from other people. It's not that I don't appreciate the thought, but hello, this is not your child and you don't need to impress them with expensive gifts. I would rather that person take ds to a show or local event and spend the time with him than to just hand over something that costs a lot of money. I love that dh's aunt takes the time to make the kids pj's. It's a thoughtful gift that comes from her, not what ToysRUs said is the latest and greatest. jmo
