View Full Version : when does school start?
My dd's last day of school is today and I know that most of your dk's are already out. So when you they go back? School starts here September 4th. So we have a pretty long summer this year.

Around this part of Kentucky, we have what they call an "alternative schedule" -- school starts first of August, two week break in the fall, two 1/2 week break end of December, two week break in the spring, then school is out the last week of May/first week of June.
During each of the breaks, they have Intercession -- where the kids can get extra help in those areas where they need it, plus I think they offered some "fun" classes.
They still go the same number of days as the previous "regular" schedule, it is just spread out differently.

My kids got out May 18 and will probably have to go back around the 17th of August. I think it's a Friday this year.

I would love a year round schedule. We have several schools in the state that do that too, but none around my area.
Kids out of the 21st and back on Sept 5th...can't wait...ds is so looking forward to the summer, and you know what....so am I......lets hope its a hot one, and we can stay down at the lake....LOL...

to Kat, regarding year round schools: The plan received mixed reviews at first, but I think people have accepted it now.
