I need to invoice this morning and somehow get motivated to go out in the dreary weather (4th straight day in a row-typical for Upstate NY) and use some Michael coupons for x-mas shopping. I must definitely have SAD.
Hope the weather, and your day, shapes up, Amy!
Nothing out of the ordinary on my schedule today. :) Mil is still searching for a cabin for us. We thought we had one over the weekend, but the wires got crossed between the realtor and the owner... so that isn't happening now. There are still two or three more that we're looking at, so something should work out in the next few days. If we do this again, we'll start looking in January!

Ds1 woke with a nasty headache so he's back in bed sawing logs. Should be a quiet day. Ds3 has another nasty cold, he woke with it yesterday but it's worse today. Hate the thoughts of sending him to school because I don't trust them to know if he needs his inhaler but I can't keep him home every time he has a cold. Was going to go to get a few things done, I need to pick up a few things for the display case in the school but that's out for today by the look of things. Hopefully tomorrow. :)
Amy, hope your day gets better.
Pam, hope you find a great cabin to use.
Hope you all have a good day :)
Nasty PMS, I am blaming that on my mood and my back ache.... its killing me, I am plagued with this Low back pain, I have slipped and herniated disc in the past and de-generative disc disease.... anyway IT HURTS and I am cranky....
Work, home and dinner with the kids.... Have a for Sale in the VAN.... put dh's number on it, I don't want people calling me...ok that is rude right.... but really, I truly believe men want to deal with other men on this issues....;)
Amy-SAD as in sad? LOL ok its still early here and I feel lost....
Hope the weather clears a little for ya....
Pam-Hope you find something soon.

I agree, put dh's number on it.

Do you realize as soon as cold weather sets into your houseand windows are closed, your family is continuously sick all season long? I remember last year I felt so bad for your family and I see the trend again. :( Has it always been like this for your family? I worry about a sick house for you.

SAD is Seasonal Affective Disorder. The shorter days and overcast/dreary skies affect me. It has been a particularly dreary Fall this year.
Work was kind of boring today (that's a good thing). I was actually doing training the whole day. The two times I saw the director she was in the middle of something as was I. We are being inspected this week so she was frantically trying to get somethings taken care of. Ran some errands after work and was home before the kids got home. It feels good to be here. The schedule maker at work asked me if I would rather come to work at 8 or 12. Looks like they are going to schedule me 8-12. He did ask if I'd be willing to stay if someone called in sick or they needed me (I said yes, I don't have a problem with that). Sometimes I stress too much and things tend to have a way of working out. I hope this is one of those times.
Amy- SAD sucks! I had it my first winter in AK. I just had to get out of the house each and everyday no matter what. it really helped. Are you exercising? That helps too.

Going to a buffalo ranch today. Hope the weather holds out for it (it's really windy and there's a chance of showers).
Planning to start baking Christmas cookies this afternoon. Don't think I'll do the annual Christmas Potluck this year--being a potluck, you'd think it would be easy, but people rarely tell me what they are bringing (and sometimes don't show up), so I still feel I need to cover the bases. Just don't need the extra work. But ds is so sad about it--he really, really loves it when we have parties.
Amy, I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I know that so much can affect moods--ds seems to become peaceful, happier, and more clear-thinking when the sun goes down. Not sure why that is, though.
Feel better, Renee! (I'd put dh's number on the sign, too!)
Hope ds isn't sick for long and no one else gets it, Mel!
Good luck finding a nice cabin, Pam!

Yes and it sucks! I try to air out the house on the nicer days and of course when the kids leave the door open when they walk in it gets aired out whether I was planning on it or not. lol These people don't have an immune system! I swear, dh or ds3 can walk by someone with a cold and pick it up. Ds2 almost never gets it, when he does it doesn't last. But if he gets the flu, it's nasty. I have started turning the heat down at night hoping that it will help instead of blowing around all that air when we are sleeping. I'm thinking about starting to open bedroom windows a crack at night too once the rain is over. Thanks.

Can you get out for a walk each day? I hate the dreary weather. I find that everything in my house has to be white or a bright color. I can't paint my walls beige or anything neutral. If it wasn't for the rest of the kitchen being white the cupboards would be the end of me. The darker colors depress me too. My bedroom is still hunter green walls from when we moved in because we have concentrated on the rest of the house first and I hate going in there unless it's at night to sleep because the room is so dark. I agree, some sort of excercise would help, wouldn't it?

I can't believe I'm just finally getting in here to post. :( I've actually got the day to myself today... unfortunately Sarah got sick with the flu on Saturday night after everyone left. She didn't get it half as bad as her daddy got it so that was good anyway. Then James' appointment cancelled this afternoon, so I don't have her today. I'm not complaining... I  having her and spending time with her... but I haven't had an entire day to myself in a long long time, so am really looking forward to having the day entirely to myself. I didn't even tell my mom for fear that she would find something for me to do or somewhere for me to take her. LOL I went to the grocery store and got a few things I'll need for Thanksgiving. It wasn't until I drove up the driveway that I realized that I had totally forgotten what I went there to get in the first place. :( Dumb!!!
Dd's fiancee's first day with the police department today. I guess he didn't sleep a wink last night thinking about it. LOL I'm so proud of him... and verey excited for the both of them. The extra $$ he'll be getting will help pay for their new house. LOL
Going to get at my cleaning after I get done watching AMC... then will have to get my ars in gear to get everything done that I want/need to get done. I got all my laundry done yesterday, so at least that's out of the way. Not much else on my agenda...
Hope you all have a great day!

Dh called. The car is dead. Unless we want to replace the engine for $3500.
We're between a rock and hard place. No $ to repair it, no $ to buy another one. We're borrowing fil's since he can't drive, right now but we have some big decisions to make. Maybe we'll be a 1 car family for a while.
We could almost get away with it unless dh has to drive to the plant for a meeting or something during the day.
Please pray one of the school aide applications go through and I get a decent paying job!
Diane, so sorry little Sarah got sick. :( Poor baby. Congrats to dd's fiance - hope he has a great first day.
Mel, sorry your guys are sick. Hope they feel better quickly.
Amy, dh suffers from SAD a little bit. It's the sun going down so early that depresses him so much.

Sorry to hear that the car is dead... Not the best news. :( It's a good thing you have a car to borrow anyway. :)
Prayers for the school aid job... Keep us updated!

I don't know if I suffer from SAD (some days - like today - it sure feels like it), but when it's dark and dreary I think it's difficult to even get motivated to go for a walk or get out. :\

It's not even 6:00 here and it's pitch dark... and has been since about 5:00. 8o I'm feeling so darn tired tonight... along with the dark, I REALLY would like to just crawl into bed and go to sleep. It feels more like 10:00. :(

Oh Sista sorry bout the car....Can you call the dealership about the oil change they did and question it, seems weird they just serviced it and now its dead.
Back feels a little better, mood is still rotten....cried like a baby when I got home, a mean girl at school made fun of his hair, so much that he decided to cut it himself...well...since it was so long, surfer cut, and then had chops in it when I got home, well....BUZZZZZZzzzzzz I liked it a little long....oh well...he looks handsome, like his father.....loved that fact that we were both teary..it was so bitter sweet....both of us trying to hold back the tears, when he finally showered I broke down in the other bathroom.....argh...mean girl...I think she likes him, but to say his hair makes him look like a girl...argh......he is so sensitive....
Work was busy and my co worker loved her gift. I got ooodles done today...
Kids and I had take out.....mild came out of dd nose....we were laughing about the diarhea, indigestion, upset stomach commerical for peptobismal I think.....it just cracked us all up.....

I had never heard of SAD but I think I'm definitely affected by it. I need that good ole sunshine to keep me upbeat and motivated. While I love the middle of the night I don't like it getting dark so early.
Good day overall. My assistant put black balloons and an "over the hill" banner on the fence. The kids made birthday cards. My cousin and brother emailed me, my sister and BIL called me. 2 Neices said Happy birthday and sang to me--too cute!!
Suppose to be cold and rainy tomorrow. need to get to bed and get geared up for preschool tomorrow.
Sista, do you have another mechanic that could look at it? We always looked at it as we couldn't get another car for $3500 so we would fix the old, but I know that feeling of how in the hell are we going to pay for this!
Would the dealership let you work out a payment plan? It wouldn't hurt to ask.

We are wresting with all of those questions.
The thing is, even with a new engine, it'll still be 10 yrs old, have 160,000 miles on it and be our luck the transmission would blow in a week or month.
We have a lot of decisions to make and I know he has a friend who is a mechanic, but having someone else go to the dealership lot to look at it would be testy, I think. (and yes we have to leave it at the lot or have it towed AGAIN, back home).
I didn't sleep at all last night worrying about the money part of it all.

Karla, I know how hard it is to get out even a little while. I remember how horrible it was when I had depression years ago. I couldn't make myself do anything and dh couldn't figure out why I couldn't just snap out of it. I'm finding this fall miserable. It's not normally this rainy, it's usually sunny and cold and very windy. It's mild, but what good is nice temperatures if it's pouring? Hopefully the sun will come out for you/us all very soon. :)

How did you get thru the depression? (If you don't mind me asking. Otherwise just tell me to mind my own business and I promise not to be offended. LOL)
For me I don't know it's just a combo of the weather and life in general right now or what. Add to it that it seems like such a pain to bundle dd up for the cold, in addition to getting myself ready and out the door. Pathetic I know and it seems like such a simple solution, but there are days it seems like the biggest effort in the world.

Could you ask the mechanic you know his thoughts/comfort level on checking out your car on another dealership property? Anyway to tell the dealership he's with your insurance company? ;) I'm obviously grasping at ideas here, but would just love for you to be able to get a 2nd opinion from someone you trust. Hang in there!!
