View Full Version : Friday
wake up sleepy heads! LOL
hitting the grocery store and doing more laundry. such the glamorous life I lead...but I don't have to work at Starbucks first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning! Hey Ann, do you still feel like your in vacation mode by not working or has it sunk in?
I am going to change the bed linens today and pick up/vacuum the house. If I get that done right now, then it won't be nagging at me all day. Shockingly, the kids are still enamored with their x-mas gifts. Not having bored kids is faboo!
Good morning! Hey Ann, do you still feel like your in vacation mode by not working or has it sunk in?
still feel like i am in vacation mode! LOL think once dd goes back to school, it will sink in.
it's funny. the first year I worked, I didn't have any probs adjusting when the kids were off and on from school. I also had no problems getting things done around the house. Since about July (maybe after we finally took a vacation! LOL) I have not had my rythmn. I just haven't felt organized meal wise, was always tired and almost every Monday, I would wake up in shock that I was going to work again. LOL
Up and showered...OK you two, rub it in that your both home today...I have to get my self off to work, this entire house is still sleeping, even the dog.
We have Stanley Steamer coming today to clean these carpets in the bedrooms, I am excited. dh is tickled that he will be here, he hates carpet, but he rented this house...LOL.....so he can supervise, and I don't have to be here to hear it.
LOL....
Lets see work, then home for dinner and some laundry....nothing too exciting...
Have a great Friday all.

I've already made the coffee, made the bed and am now working on my laundry. I'm going to call my mom to see if she needs any help with anything. I took her to the dr.'s yesterday and all is fine with her. I guess her stomach has been bothering her, found out it's probably reflux, so he gave her a prescription for something to help that. She didn't break anything when she fell. We found out that her osteoporosis isn't as bad as she was led to believe it was, so that was good news. We were wondering about that because she's had a few good falls and (knock on wood) has never broken anything. Hopefully there will be no more falls for a while. :)
No Sarah today, so am planning on starting from the top floor and working my way down and getting as much thorough cleaning done as I can, and try to declutter at the same time. Funny how that stuff accumulates.
Have a great Friday!

I'm not a big carpet fan either. If I had my way we'd rip it all out and replace it with wood flooring. :) Enjoy your clean carpets....
Grocery shopping, cleaning and laundry here, too. I feel like I've been hit by a Mac truck. :( Stomach flu or something of the sort hit yesterday mid-day and I still feel puny. I'm hoping to get as much done as possible this morning and then crash into bed this afternoon. It's Friday though and dh gets another four day weekend! :yippee: :D
Good morning...I've been lazy this a.m. and slept til just after 9!!! Did some dishes and made some tea and here I am, lol. Will finish up ds's laundry for him (he's working 8-1) and find something to wear...we have a wedding today.

Took the van into the shop this morning...I think it's having alignment problems. They actually think it's a tire issue...and recommend I take it to the place where we bought the tires. LOL Nice of them...but now I can't get into the tire place for a week!
Ds1 is going to a friend's house today...and dh and I are running some errands with ds2 (who will not be too excited about that!).
Going to a Christmas "open house" type party tonight. Fun!!
Played the Wii with dh for a bit last night. That is so much fun!!! I loved the bowling and the tennis!!! Boxing was a riot...but man did my arms get tired! It's a good workout, that's for sure. The boys have the Zelda game...so I'm sure they'll be working on that today.

I have a sleepy house today. Brichard took the day off and is still snoozing  I need to go to the grocery store and get some fresh veggies and fruits in this house.
I've been watching what appetizers Ann is making for New Years. That is what my friend has decided to do for her New Years party and I want to make something de-lish! If the fruit looks good I'm going to make an edible arrangement as well. I'll see what I can find.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Going to pick up ds1 soon, he spent the night at a friends house. Then back here to hopefully get the kids rooms in order and have them put away their stuff from Christmas. I have to make pies with the left over turkey today too. No real big plans. Hope you all have a good day :)

LOL... That's so funny. Doing it once is bad enough but feeling like you're having to do it again/twice makes it that much worse.
I got all my decorations down and put away. The tree is still standing waiting for dh to take it apart/down and back in the box. I've got so many boxes of Christmas decorations, I "should" go through them and either give away or toss out what I no longer use or like/need... want. I'm sure the girls would probably love to have some of it so may keep some of the boxes for them to look through. I think I've changed the color of my tree at least 8 times in the past 10 years, so there is plenty of every color there. LOL
Picking my mom up after dh gets done with his work out. She didn't need/want any help today so I got quite a bit done around here. I'm anxious to go to Wal Mart to see if they have any good deals. :)
Later......

Well I am pooped and didn't get a thing done around here today. We were in DC all day and I've decided I'm too fat and old to do those trips anymore. UGH! My legs, back, feet and ankles HURT.
Dd invited a friend to go with us and she was great; easy going, non complaining, whatever goes attitude. I'm takin' that girl out with us again! :)
We saw the National Christmas tree in front of the White House, which dh nor I had ever seen. We also saw the WWII memorial, which is new - very nice.
Did the Lincoln Mem., Wash. monument, Nat. History Museum and tons and tons of walking. Sure wish I didn't have to be at work at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

feeling blah/boredom can be a sign of depression. it's most definitely a sign of unhappiness. i am sure you don't realize it, but you rarely post a happy or postive post. almost everything has been a complaint of not feeling well, of being unmotivated ect.

I'm sure that wasn't said to make you feel bad, Vea... it was said because we care and are concerned about you. The holiday's can be a very depressing time for a lot of people. I hope you start feeling better real soon. :)

I agree with the others, Vea...I haven't been back all that long, but I noticed it, too. The other day, I started to ask you why you were always so tired--was wondering if you need a new mattress or something--but I decided not to say anything, wondering if it was just me. Being tired is also a sign of depression. And you may be misinterpreting being bored with lack of desire to do things (like going to the gym, taking a walk, meeting a friend for coffee, going to a movie, taking a community dance or art class, etc.). There are different types of depression, too. I'm glad you are going to call on Monday to see someone about this. Let us know how it goes.

Yep! It's my favorite thing about this "group", and certainly not something I anticipated feeling when I joined a message group such as this. We don't even "know" each other...yet we "know" each other very well. KWIM?? When someone is missing for long....we get worried (Karla!! That's you, darling!). When someone is sick...we check in with them daily via the thread. We share each others happy moments...and our struggles. It's easiest to complain/share with you guys sometimes. Yet, and this might seem strange to some, I genuinely feel like the people on this board care about each other.

If you don't mind me asking, how much older do you want your dd to be? Because my dd is 10 and had a blast with her girlfriend yesterday. They recongnized stuff they'd already learned in school, were able to understand the significance of the WWII and Korean War memorials, etc.
The last time we took her (uh.... I think she was around 6) she loved the gemstones (the Hope diamond) and the First Lady's dresses, Dorothy's ruby shoes.... she still has good memories of that trip even that long ago.
With that, I will tell you the American History Museum is closed until 2008 for renovations. :(
Whenever ya'll go, give me a buzz - I might just run up there and see ya! :)
You'd be much more exciting than those boring fossils I had to look at yesterday. Ugh.

You know where you could post more if you wanted to open up. Other people's problems CAN put you in a depression too. If you can't drop them or help from feeling affected, then you will most likely need to seek help.
Vea, if you feel you can't talk about it because they are other people's problems, but you don't bring that to our attention until "after" the fact, then of course we are going to be concerned that it's "you". The concern is real...if you want to post about your "down" periods, we need more info...you know what assumption does!

I was shocked! The boys just adore him and they have NO clue that he is the one who got it for them bcuz they think it's from Santa! Dh actually got teary about it - the goodness of this kid and how he doesn't even realize what a HUGE deal this was for us. Anyway, dh gave him a thank you note with $ for him, but there's no way we could even put a price on what he did for us! I made a point to talk to his mom after a bball game to let her know how much we appreciated it and what a good kid we think he is!
