storing peppers

I don't know if I'm supposed to store bells peppers in the fridge or is on the counter ok? They were bought today and are going to be used in a veggie tray on Saturday.

Thanks! I normally don't buy them. I did recently discover that I LOVE the orange peppers. They are so good. I wonder why I never tried them before. I plan to try the red and yellow ones.
