View Full Version : Tuesday
or as we call it here, the day the ice didn't come! LOL The news reporters are as disappointed as dd is! Heck, even dh didn't set his alarm in anticipation. Some school districts decided to close yesterday..suckers!
It's below freezing, but the freezing rain didn't make it this far south yet (they think if at all, it will be by midmorning).
i am going to clean house, i am going to clean house, i am going to clean house!!!!

Work, school, drum practice, hospital, ballet.
Yippee, what an exciting life.
Jen- who has drum practice?
Regular day at work. Not feeling 100% today. My stomach is still acting/feeling strange. Have a cake in the oven for a fundraiser for dd at school. Might take a nap while it finishes baking. I need to clean and do laundry, but a nap sounds better!

Morning all, Windy and cold here today...Work...I get there, then the next thing I know its lunch, then the next sound I hear is, vacuuming, so I guess its never dull...
I can't wait to get home to hear about DD's field trip to the San Juan Capistrano Mission. She is pretty excited, then they get to write a report and make a small model of the mission or any other California Mission....Can you tell she  loves school....DS is working on some projects to raise money for the Science Camp this spring. Its all he talks about, they are getting closer to thier goal...:) (everyone who wants to go, goes)
Have a great day all.

Is your dd in 5th grade? We moved before ds had to do his mission project in CA. Dd did a mission project when we lived in AK and had a lot of fun doing it.

We finally got to see the white stuff!! It is icy underneath and at one point driving today I was saying, oh please stop, oh please stop, hoping my van would not slide into the car in front of me. Thankfully, it stopped!
I got all my errands run already and now I need to pick up my house, but I'd really rather not, lol.
Have a great day all!

I should be housecleaning but am not. Last couple of nights have been hard sleeping because of my back. I know I should be in physiotherapy but I know a few of the excersices and don't see the point in going if they can't do as much, I remember going while pregnant with ds3 and it was limited. As I get moving more in the day it will feel better and I can get some stuff done but won't be able to go right through like I would like to. I still haven't found someone to come in and do the cleaning, I should have been looking harder.
Going to get the results from the speech pathologist for ds2 this afternoon. I'm very interested in what she has to say, thinking it will be better than some of the results we got last spring.
Ann, that is great news for dd. I bet she is so excited about the choir. :) Congrats to her.

Hair appointment for me and drumming lesson for ds today. My stinkin lousy rotten SUV is acting up again--waiting to hear back from the dealer about an appointment. And I need to empty it before I take it to the dealer--it's FULL of bags for donation (about 15 or so big black trash bags).
Otherwise, school, laundry, etc.

Not much going on. Can't go anywhere. I don't like not having a car!!! I can't wait to get it back!
Were invited over to dd's house tonight for dinner and to celebrate both her and her fiancee's birthday's. His side of the family will also be there... so it will be the first time for Dawn, Kristi, their dh's to meet them. I'm not worried... I'm sure they'll all get along just fine. I've still got one more cake to make... made the chocolate one for Shelly and all the other's who like chocolate... and will make a white or yellow cake for Bob and those on his side of the family who don't like chocolate. :) Of course... American Idol starts tonight so we'll be missing that BUT... I'm going to have dh set the recorder so we can watch it later.
Busy cleaning the house and doing laundry. Not much else. Hope you all have a great day!

Mickey, sometimes it's enough to make you want to go back to horse and buggy, eh? Car probs suck.
Amy, I hope things go (went?) well today for ds!
Babysat this morning. Did a couple of loads of laundry, but I'm feeling really lethargic and lazy. I'd love nothing better than to just laze around for the rest of the afternoon. Dh is staying in town tonight, so maybe I can throw the kids in bed early (or me in bed early, LOL!) and just veg. Hope ya'll have a good afternoon.

Jen & Donna, dd is on the 5th grade drum team at school and they practice once a week after school.
The "drums" are made from the big Diamond Springs water jugs (it was a big deal to be chosen by the music teacher and homeroom teacher to stay and paint them one day - which dd did).
Members had to audition and test to be on the team. It's a thing the county has been wanting elementary school music classes to try and we have a brand new music teacher who's game for anything.
So... she got the team together and dd's school will perform with a couple other elementary schools and possibly a middle school at one of the local high schools next month. The high school choir will join the "drummers" in the performance; I'm kind of excited.

Wooo hooo... My car is all done and I'm leaving in a little bit to go pick it up. I can't believe how fast they got it done. There wasn't that much damage so I shouldn't be surprised but I'm so glad it's done and I can have my car back. :) Makes me wonder what I did 6 years ago before I had my car/license. LOL

Judy, Congrats!! Praying for a healthy little one.
Diane, glad your car is back. I know what you mean, I can barely remember life before getting my licence, not sure what I did to get myself and kids around. lol
Sista, how cool for dd. It sounds like great fun!
Ok, so got the results back from the speech pathologist. Ds2 has a language based learning disability but barely. If he was in the average range in other skills and areas he wouldn't have one, it would be all average. BUT because his other areas are in the top percentile and above average, the difference between that and this one little area of weakness in his language makes it so he has the learning disabilty. So he doesn't but does because of him. LOL Okay......So, one area to work on with him and some of it is probably because of the ADD and maybe if he's tired that will come into play as well but it's much better than what we heard in the spring. Which I was still confused on a few things about it and just exactly I was supposed to be doing to help him and what I was to be making sure the school was doing. This was like an 'aha' moment for me today and I feel much better. :)
Need to run and make dinner and go to a meeting tonight. Guess I'm going to be involved with a Carribean Night at the church hall for a dinner and dance. No doubt, I will be in charge of picking music which is cool.
Have a good night :)
Glad you got some answers too, Mel!
Congrats and prayers, Judy.
Mel, when did you get your license? Diane, I didn't realize you had only had it for 6 six years.
I am truly amazed!

So, today is a day of power to the people. I woke up at 12:30 (what a great feeling that was?!) and went to class at 2:30, then went to another class at 4 and off to my room to work on a screenplay i have to write for my intro to playwriting class. I think this is the most fun, i've had writing a story. I've really gotten into the characters and the story and it's like I see what is actually going on. It's cool to play with your imagination and create.
At school tomorrow we are boycotting, by not attending our classes. Because the administration here is not giving the students what we deserve as far as work-study is concerned. I'm a little confused on whether or not I should go or not. I'm not the type of student to miss class, and i am the editor of the newspaper, i'm also a non-traditional student. But I feel like if I do participate what am I standing up for and if I don't participate I'll be looked at as a traitor or a hater ya know. It's just very confusing and I have a big decision to make in the next 6hrs.
Other than that, Tuesday was a great day, even though it felt a little weird not going into work. I usually work on tuesdays, but I had to change my schedule this semester b/c of classes. I'll see the kids on Thursday and i'm sure they will have loads to tell me.

But, if you've already PAID for the class, how is not attending going to motivate the administration to do anything? What is the issue with the work/study program? Is this a public school? Is this even in the school's hands? Where does the money come from for that program?
But, if you've already PAID for the class, how is not attending going to motivate the administration to do anything? ?
that's what i was wondering too. no skin off the administrations back if you don't show.

I think ds2 was around three when I got I got the 'final' licence. I was in the graduated system by the time I finally went so I had been driving on my own for a while before that. We were living here when I finally got it. In the city it was one thing, walk or bus it or wait for dh to be able to go. Moving out here to a small town, I had to have it. I just could not imagine going without my licence now, feels like I have been driving since forever. lol
Diane, wasn't it hard when dh was at work and you had to scheduel doc appts and all around when he could drive you? Or were you able to take a bus? My mom didn't have her licence and I remember taking a bus to everything or walking growing up.

Ann and Cathy, thanks. I was glad we went for this, it was more because it was recommended last year. We see funny little things that we still have to work with him on but at least now we have a more clear cut answer as to what and how to go about it. :)

Yeah... isn't that pathetic?
I ended up pretty much having to get it when my dad was diagnosed with cancer, otherwise my mom wouldn't have had any way of getting around. (unless dh did it and I didn't want him having to take that on) Getting my license totally changed my life...
