Yesterday we fired up the grill for the first time this summer. I grilled steaks and squash. We had baked potaoes, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers drizzled with vinaigrette, and green beens. It was all so good. Later after church we had a pool party to go to. I was all prepared to acutally bake homemade cookies to take. Dh was making tea for lunch and said we were out of sugar. I didn't want to go to the store and thought it might be hard to find a cookie recipe without sugar, but I did. A little bisquik, instant pudding, egg and oil. I can still bake cookies. After lunch I mix the dry ingredients and discover dh used the last of the eggs for breakfast. Ugh! So I still had to show up with my "I'm a busy professional woman with not enough time" store bought cookies. I guess if I'm going to spend my summer doing some actual cooking and baking I'd better get my behind to the store and restock my shelves.
The party was a huge success although dh wasn't feeling well and didn't get to go. These friends live pretty far out and I wasn't sure I remembered how to get out there so I had to follow along with a caravan of others who didn't remember. I am directionally impaired but I remembered the turns so I could reverse them to go home later. Then when it was time to go home someone mentioned going back a different way closer to my house. I was going to follow someone else back out, but got tied up in the good byes and got left behind. I tried to catch the tail lights ahead of me but never did. Anyway I did manage to remember the directions and made it home fine. By the time I took my nephew home it was midnight before we all got to bed.
All in all it was a relaxing Sunday.
Today I'm restocking the kitchen! Later ds and I have a service project to work on with the youth group for some missionaries going to S. American on Saturday. So I best get going. Hope everyone has a good week.
