I'm up and waiting for the kids and dh to get up so I can make them waffles. The batter is ready! Dh and I had our date night last night. Kind of improptu and wandering, lol. Started out at a wine store and bought some everyday chardonnay at resonable prices to keep us from drinking up all our good stuff!
Then we went next door and had wine and appetizers. Dh was hungry, and we were too late to go to a movie, so we tried to get into a mexican restaurant we like. 30 minutes later, still no table, people who came in after us are seated, dh is in a huff, so we leave. Walk back to the movie theater and eat in their restuarant, which was really good. Back home and I'm passed out by 9:30.
Church, then I promised ds he could have a friend over to play today.

Church and no other plans today. I need to get my house back in order and go through a bin and put some stuff in the change table. It's very cold here. Kids plan on sliding today. Ds3 had a wipe out on his face and scraped from under his chin to his nose. So instead of just helmets, it's hockey helmets with the face cage now. Hope you all have a good day :)

Can't believe I'm up....we had a great time last night but I didn't get to bed until 2:00 am. I was hoping to sleep through my open house at school but since I'm up I'll have to go or I'll feel guilty....after that I'm just going to curl up for the night and watch TV. Gotta check the time of New England game today....hope it's later. If not I'll Tivo...LOL.
Have a great day!
I am babysitting my next door neighbors house/cats while they are out of town. She had asked me to check her messages for her in case there was an emergency from one of their kids (they are sailing and hard to reach). I am listening and there is this woman saying 'i remember you sent me an email a while ago about a friend of yours who does kind of girl friday things and i was wondering if she still does cause i am moving out of the country but keeping my house here and it sounds like she might be perfect to keep my house up and running while i am gone'...that's ME!!! LOL
gonna call her later.
Sex, God and Me starts at church tonite (2 weeks) and this is dd's first time to get to go. she is mortified! LOL
slept till 7:00 am...I can't believe I didn't get anything done other than a new hair cut and color....after that dh took us to the Macaroni grill, which isn't around here so we had to take a little road trip in dh's little sporty car....
after we came home and dh and I watched "Crank" weird, heartpumping movie...lots of violence and bad language, but, dh and I actually liked it...
Kids were Wii bowling most of yesterday evening.
Basketball games today, one at 12:15 PM and one at 2:30 PM and then a Pizza party for dd's team....home to clean and get something done.
Hope you all have a great Sunday.

oh, it's horrifying for all the kids! ;) it's every two years so for my kids it's 7th, 9th and 11th. YOUR PARENTS are in the SAME room for the first hour!!! then the kids break up into same grade/same sex groups for small group discussion and the parents are all together to help us deal with all the scary stuff we just heard!
I bet its very educational in the long run, just scary at first.
abstinance? Do they discuss all options and feelings? OH I want to come too.
One reason that they do it every two years, is the kids (and parent's) hear it differently each time based on where the kid is in his/her life. They address the old line 'well, it's just easier to say yes cause he/she won't like me anymore' by showing how in the long run it's just easier to say no. It's not easier to be pregnant, it's not easier to be talked about, it's not easier to get the HPV virus, it's not easiser to have to tell your husband that you can't his children because you got the HPV virus when you were a teen, it's not easier to tell your wife that you gave her the HPV virus cause of sex you had as a teen....and so on. They talk about how sex is wonderful when it's done according to God's plan and God's timeline, and God wants life to be easier for us by just following his plan. How it's easier to just not get in the situation in the first place..lots of emphasis on group dating (which thankfully, ds' group likes to do)
This year they have a speaker that's going to talk about how alcohol and drugs effect judgement ect.
Oh Ann, that sounds fabulous.
Now that ds is older what are his thoughts on the class? or is he still a teenage boy who doesn't speak of that with MOTHER!
the only thing he has ever said is that he is sick of hearing about the HPV virus! LOL

done with church. at mom's waiting for her to get home from later church.
going to get her to change clothes, take her home with me, feed her - by then dh's dad will be at the house after church - and we are having a service for Spooky, our cat.
mom donated a stone for the headstone, dh's parents brought a dozen roses over yesterday for her grave and i've got a cross i want made and fil is bringing over a flag he made - it's half mast. it's almost funny and if i weren't so sad, i'd laugh. but...
and one of my sisters emailed me the sweetest poem. maybe i'll read it.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Dh and oldest ds are off to basketball about 45 minutes away. I hate to miss it, but we've been at games all wknd and dd is a bit bored with it. No school tomorrow for dks, so they are both having friends over tonight. I need to get to the store later. It's been snowing all morning so I am hoping the roads are okay.
Also - need more prayers....a high school senior from my hometown was snowmobiling a week ago and went into water on a lake and after a long week of searching they just recovered his body. :( A friend of my nephew's and little brother's, so they are both upset. Also, a very close friend of my little brother's was airlifted to Mayo after a one car accident Friday night. They think he lost control around 2 a.m and wasn't found until 8 a.m. He had been ice fishing and was dressed warmly (thank goodness!!). I just hate tragic things like this, especially involving young kids. :(

Cathy, I'd never heard or read that little poem, but it does give me hope that maybe we'll see her again someday.
It was a lousy day for a funeral, which I notice most are. Freezing rain and ccccold but dh, dd, fil and mom and I were out there saying goodbyes, prayers and I think maybe it's helped me a little. I sobbed buckets and hopefully I'm getting to the end.

Somebody shoot me and put me out of my misery!!! LOL! Ds2 ended up having 2 friends here (one of which has NEVER been here before) and they are crazy hyper!! :crazyroll Oldest ds and his buddy have been pretty calm other than wrestling each other, but the 3 second graders go non-stop!! They don't even want to sit long enough to play a game or Legos. :tearhair: No school tomorrow (but dh has to go in), so I am guessing by noon I could very well be locked up indefinitely in a loony bin....although that is looking pretty inviting right now. :goofy: ;) I am hoping they'll be ready for a movie soon. :tinysmile
Thank you. :tinysmile

{{{HUGS}}} I love The Rainbow Bridge. It helped me a lot through the time when we had to put our beloved Micha to sleep. I'm a believer that we will see our pets again in heaven. Some people argue that they won't be there because they have no souls. Right... therefore they can do no wrong. jmo

I love this poem. :) Our vet's office sent this to us after we had to have one of our old cats put down.
