how far in advance to you send them? we are planning dd's 4th birthday party at my SIL who is dd godmother, it will be on the 14th of July since dd is born on the 16th, which is a monday....how soon should I send these out, some of our family works on weekends should I send them out 4 weeks before or three....SIL and I are at odds with this...this is my SIL who I have lots of friction with, don't know why, she likes confussion and turmoil....LOL....just wondering when I should do it...thanks in advance....

Typically I like to send out invites for dks parties 2-3 weeks in advance. My sis just sent out invites for my nephew's party with only a 5 day notice. :grimace: She's finding out a lot of people can't make it but I wasn't surprised by that at all, especially since it's Father's Day wknd. IMHO since it's summer and people tend to have more planned I would send them 3-4 weeks early, especially since you said lots of people work on the wknds. They may have a hard time getting off on short notice if other people they work with are also wanting time off. :)

I am thinking at least 4 weeks in advance for those who work, which is quite a few, plus like you said, lots of people have lots of plans in the summer....not like me...LOL....

In our family things get out of wack and invites have been done over the phone, as in "it's this Sat. at 1, can you make it?" LOL Sis in law have done it too, but usually we know that something is happening even if we haven't heard about it yet so we try to keep the young kids birthdays open.
The times we are organized (as much as we can be) the go out 2-3 weeks in advance but if you are worried that people cannot get time off work you get send to them 4 weeds ahead.

We try for two to three weeks in advance with attached RSVP. Just so we have an idea of how many to expect when the big day arrives.

No more than 3 weeks in advance. I'm having a 4th of July party for ds's 4th birthday this year so I sent ours out a little early since there was a holiday involved.

I don't usually send mine out until I know they won't receive their invitations until about two weeks before the big event. I find that if I send them out too early, they sometimes forget all about it. :) I agree that if/when it's over a holiday I'd probably try to give a little bit more notice than I normally would. :)
