I've got to update mine and we used to use Norton but I bought McAfee when I bought the new computer (didn't realize what I bought was only a 90 day trial!!) Grrr...
I've been at the McAfee site and I'm not sure if I need to get the $69/year package or if I'd be secure enough with the lesser package.
Just thought I'd get your thoughts.
Thanks!
I was a McAfee customer for years. Loved them. Road Runner was offering FREE virus protection so we switched to them...loved them. Then the tech kid i hired switched me over to Avast Free, so I have been using them.

we use McAfee. Never truely like Nortons.
We've been using AVG Free (which is no longer free as of the 18th) and love it! It's done much better for us than McAfee or Norton (esp. Norton, lol)!

Started out with McAfee, was told Norton's was better and switched to them. That just expired and I need to get something else up and running asap. Perfect timing for this question, Sista!!
Is Avast Free an internet download?
yes

McAfee with the firewall in it. Had Nortan, didn't catch everything. :( Am planning on getting a Mac (hopefully soon) and then we won't have to worry about viruses anymore. :)

Diane... hello...???? LOL Did you miss this? :)
How come you don't have to worry about viruses with a Mac?
sorry...pushed the wrong button! LOL
Why is that?
it's not that there is better protection, it's just for some reason virsus writers haven't targeted MAC's yet.

Sorry... It isn't a pc and there aren't any viruses on a MAC... :) Were sick of having to constantly deal with viruses... so this will be what we get next.

My mom is getting a crap-load of them too, and we can't figure out why. We've only had one in the year since we've had this computer. Our old computer didn't count... 'cause it was too old! None of the viruses targeted it.
Is she opening attachments? Not running a spyware/adaware program? those screw up your puter like a virus, but aren't so most virus programs (unless they have a specific program for them) won't prevent them from getting through.

I have no idea!
