Okay, this is the time where I stay up half the night making sure all the details are done.

I have a question for ya. I've got 3 (short, round) crystal bowls on the dining room table that fill up the center nicely and are just pretty. Thing is, I can't think of a thing to put in them. LOL

The buffet will have the beef burgundy, green beans, tossed salad, mil's jello/fruit salad and a tray of assorted breads. I may have something else, but I can't remember now.

Any suggestions as to what I can fill those bowls with?

Also, my kitchen table centerpiece is too tall. Dh moves it everytime he sits down to eat. Any creative minds still awake? I thought about doing red apples with tea lights in them, but I think I'd need them on a platter with other filler around them and honestly don't feel like digging all that out this late.

Oooh oh oh! Guess what I found today at the bakery?! Air Force insignia candy molds! I thought I'd serve a scoop of vanilla ice cream and put one of the chocolate candies in with it.... I was excited. Also found bowling pin/ball lollipop molds, so the kids will get chocolate ones of those in their treat box.

Dadgumit. I tried to upload pics of the two tables but it said my files were too big.

Who's in the Air Force and who's coming to dinner? I must have missed something. This is for your dd's birthday right?

Ann can help with the table decorations. I'll leave that to the expert!

I have no clue but it all sounds just perfect. I'm sure everything will look and taste just wonderful! :)

could you switch the table centerpiece to the buffet table and put the bowls (all or just one) on the kitchen table?
if you use one, float some candles or flowers in it.
if you end up using all three, float flowers in 2 and candles in the middle one.

Jen, it's a combo b'day and good bye dinner. One of dh's nephews has joined the Air Force and leaves next Tuesday. :(
We've got the 3 of us, my mom, dh's parents, bil and his girlfriend (I assume), nephew, niece and her boyfriend.

Ann, can't switch the centerpieces as the dining room is much more formal and the kitchen more "comfortable".
I could do floating candles, if I had some. LOL Maybe I can do that. I've got flowers on the table - I took my silver candlesticks and had silver julep cups that fit on top of them... then I filled the julep cups with a mix of roses, lilies, sunflowers (only 1 in each) and greens, I think they turned out nice.

If I could figure out how to resize my pix I'll post them, no time now.

Thanks for the advice!!! :) :)
