I'm just a basket case. Dh's aunt called me and she sounded just awful. :( I could hardly understand a word she was saying. I asked her how she was feeling, and she said not good... that she hadn't been feeling real well all morning and that her arm hurt. OMG... (I know she's probably having a stroke) 8o I already know I'm going to call 911 but I try to get her ds's work phone number from her so I can call him, but she's unable to give it to me. I know she's close to a neighbor, someone who could get to her quickly to be with her until the ambulance comes... but I don't have her phone number either and she's unable to give it to me so... I hung up and called 911. Then I called dh... he's on his way. I'm too much of a wreck to drive so am staying home. Anyway, could you all say a little prayer for her that she's going to be okay? Thanks so much.

Well, evidently she got ahold of her son because by the time dh got there he was there. The ambulance arrived, they checked her out and... she appeared to be normal. She refused to go into the hospital, but her ds was taking her in to the ER to get checked out. If they were smart... they'd admit her for the night and keep close tabs on her. I'm glad she's okay but... I can't help but think this is the beginning of something not good because something was definitely wrong.
Thank you all for your prayers.
very scary, Diane. Keep us updated.

I talked with her tonight. She sounded like her regular self. :) Her son took her to Urgent Care and she was checked over, but by a physician that was not her own. He suggested she go on something, but she refused it until she gets the okay from her regular physician. Anyway... it sounds as if they think she had a Transient Ischemic Attack. (TIA) They told her to take two baby asperin tonight and to call right away in the morning to make an appointment with her regular physician. That's quite a way's away and she doesn't want to go by herself, so either dh or I may end up having to go with her. (Her ds has to go out of town for work and won't be here  ) Anyway... I was glad she called. She thanked me for calling 911 even though she told me not to. I don't know what it is with old people like that... they KNOW they need an ambulance but yet they're so reluctant to call them for help. Anyway... she seems fine, but we'll have to see what the doc say's.
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. :) You guy's are great!
Glad she's OK for the moment. Hope her Dr gives her the all clear.
TIA's are fairly common. They are just bizarre and scare the crap out of you, but thankfully rarely leave any lasting side effects. They can resolve as quickly as they started. It does sometimes mean that she might be more prone to having a stroke, but they really aren't sure.
They thought dh had one when he got sick 7 years ago, that's why I know so much about them.

She's still not feeling 100%... say's she feels "off". :( She's got an appointment this afternoon at 3:00... don't know what they'll be looking for or if there is anything they can do, but hopefully she'll come home feeling better about everything. She said she didn't hardly sleep a wink last night, even though she was totally exhausted, because she was scared. She said the entire day just kept repeating itself in her head and she couldn't turn it off. I know exactly how she felt, because that's what I was thinking too. It was really scary. :( If it's not snowing too bad (were suppose to have another snow storm  ) in the morning I'll be going over there to clean. I think after I see her I might feel a lot better about everything. I just hope she'll be okay... :)

I figured a good visit along with the cleaning, cause right now I really don't want her doing any more than she has to. Don't need/want her stressing out because her house isn't up to par.... :) which I know she would.

My grandmother had them as well and nothing really ever came of them either.
On the other hand, not to scare you Diane, a girl I work with... her father had been having them and found out he had a brain tumor quite large and they estimated it'd been there about 3 years. YIKES! He had it removed last week and is doing fairly well in rehab.
Do you know if they are planning on doing a CT scan or MRI on her?
Hopefully, things will straighen out for her and she'll feel like her old self soon. (((hugs)))

YIKES... I sure hope it isn't a brain tumor! :( I don't know what they have planned for her, but I hope they do everything they can to find out what's causing them. Her appointment was at 3:00... so I'm sure that as soon as she gets home she'll call and let me know how things went.

My mom and MIL have both had tia's. MIL suffers some short term memory loss from it, but no other side effects that she knows of.
