ok so I never thought I would hear myself say, I am signing up dd this March for Pre kindgarden at our local elementary school, its free, 5 1/2 days a week and the bus will pick her up and bring her home, she will of course ride with her brother.....she will either go in the morning till noon or at noon until 3:30 any advice about sending your last baby out into the world of school?

If you get to choose the time, pick afternoon. You'll get to spend time alone with her in the morning and have a regular routine for the end of the school day with both your kids. It'll help to ease into the "bus is coming and I can't find my boots, homework, show-and-tell item, and Mom did you write that note for the nurse?, and I need money for lunch" morning madness that you get to enjoy the following year.
As to general advice, wear sunglasses to the bus the first day, so she'll know you're happy and proud, without worrying about why you're crying. And don't forget that no matter how wonderful her teacher is, you are the one that she loves, and all your hard work and sacrifice has prepared her to succeed, which she will! Good luck!

I never thought of it that way about the afternoons....was thinking more of getting them both out early, but it makes sense to have her with me in the morning, and then have her finish the day at school and ride home with her brother.... hey cathy where in central new york are you? I am in Camden....onidea County?

RCT, I didn't know that you lived that far North! I thought you were still the NJ border. So how do you like Upstate NY? Have you been to the 1000 Islands yet?

Renee... I'm so glad to hear that you got Maddy signed up for Pre kindergarden... I'm sure she will just LOVE it. I'll bet she's really excited and anxious to start. :) I like the good advice Cathy gave you, especially the one about the sunglasses. SO true... LOL Good luck, and when she starts, please let us know how she's doing.

My son just began Head Start last month. I didn't have a choice about the time, but if I did I would have chosen afternoons simply because he is not a morning person. However... The first day of school my dh and I stopped to pick him up, as we did not yet have arrangements with the bus driver. The teacher (the teacher did a home visit the week before BTW)told him after school, "You were so good today, you used your listening ears, and your watching eyes, and your nice words, and we really enjoyed having you in class today. Would you come back again tomorrow?" And my son looked her in the eye and said "Of course I will!" Everyday he comes home from school and announces, "Hi, I had a great time!" And Dh (if I'm not working that morning)and I use the quiet time to drink our coffee, snuggle on the couch and watch some old TV shows that we enjoyed when we were kids (TV Land). It sure is nice. And we are so thrilled at the neat stuff our otherwise shy second born is learning. He comes home and teaches us the cute little songs he learns, and we just revel in it. :)
