Had dd at the doctor this morning. She doesn't have strep throat, but she does still have a fever. She's watching TV. I'm getting ready to go to the doctor myself. After my feeling like a fool fall yesterday, my arm just doesn't feel right. It's a bit swollen. I can move it and do things with it, it just hurts. Hopefully it's OK and just sprained or something.

Yikes Jen! Hope it's nothing serious. No word yet from your new job, huh?
Work, pick up girl scout cookies, junk to do around here, take dd to dance. I sure would love a day at home today - didn't get anything done around here over the weekend.
Dd is stressing b/c 5th graders are taking their writing SOL (standards of learning) tests this week.

ok car was acting up again....think it's just about dead...hoping to be able to drive it until I find a new one. They want $ 700 about to do what need doing. I'm going down tonight to find out details and then probably just take it home as is..
Sorry so short...gotta drive dbf to work.
my appliance guy is coming to work on my house lady's dishwasher, so i will be waiting for his call.
need to do laundry.
I'm home from the dr. He thinks it's just a deep bruise. I just wanted to make sure it was OK. It's not that it hurts all that bad. It's just a constant ache and then it hurts when I do things. Mortin and ice is what he says.

Still waiting for the doctor to call my mom... I'm SO mad/disappointed in him. Urgent cared stressed how important it was for her to get in immediately to see her doctor... she called right away yesterday at 8:00 when they opened. They told my mom that her doctor didn't have any time, that he only 15 minutes to spare and he'd need to see her at least 30 minutes. They told her he'd call her... She stayed home all day waiting for his call, which never came. Urgent care called her back late last night... seems they missed a fracture, so there is yet another one causing her pain. They weren't none too pleased when they found out that she had not yet been in to see her doctor... but she told them she tried, that he obviously isn't caring enough to call her back. Anyway, she's calling the clinic (probably as I post this) at 8:00 and demanding to talk to... someone, ANY doctor at this point. (she's so pissed off at him she doesn't even want him for a doctor anymore) Anyway... don't know what my day holds for me, hopefully an appointment for my mom. Dawn wants me to take care of Sarah this afternoon but my mom/her situation comes first so... we'll see.
Treadmill/exercise... I need to do a load or two of laundry, and that's about it. Hope you all have a GREAT day...
Jen, a deep bruise sounds painful...hope you get some relief.
Ann, hope you don't have to wait too long for your appliance guy to call.
Jen, hope you find some time that you're craving.
Vea, bummer about your car.
Diane, hope your mom hears from a doctor soon.
Very cold here, apparently there's a severe windchill warning and all the schools are closed (minus 30 to minus 35 in parts of southern Ontario). I never heard about the schools being closed until I got to work, so ds didn't get to sleep in  . I was lucky I caught him before he left the house...he was just getting his coat on, lol.
Morning all
Jen, I'm with you, I could use a day at home, and so could the house ;)
Jak, glad its nothing too serious, sorry it hurts :nurse:
Diane, I feel for your Mother, I would keep calling his service and leaving messages for him to call her. Hope she gets in to see him soon.
I am struggling to write a sympathy card for my SIL and her family.
She sent out an email to her family and us last night that was so heart breaking.
I am at a complete loss for words.
gotta get kids up and ready for school, myself to work. Not very motivated today.

Diane, I hope your mother is seen soon.
Jen, hope the bruising doesn't take long to heal.
Bev, it's minus 25 here now with the wind being -38 but our schools are still open. Supposed to warm up to -15 this afternoon with the wind being -25. Hopefully this is our last cold snap! Glad you caught your ds in time.
I have a new niece!! She was born last night. Kids think it's neat she will share a birthday with ds2. This is my oldest brother and his gf. She has a 2 yr old girl from a previous relationship and he has a teen dd from his marriage. They named her Pearl and she weighed 8pnds 4oz. He sounded so tickled on the phone, he sees his gf and these little ones as a second chance at life/parenthood and is so happy. They live in the same city as my mom and dad so they were there at the hospital when she was born. They look thrilled in the pictures. I'm so glad they are there, only grandkids anywhere near them now.
I see the OB this afternoon. It's every week now. 3 Weeks to go. I'm excited. Seems like everytime I turn my head I'm seeing a baby. lol
Almost done that heap of laundry. I have only been doing a couple or few loads a day so not to over do it carrying the baskets. I should be done this am. Feels nice to have it done!
Hope you all have a good day :)

Well... she called them and they made an appointment for her at 9:45... so at least I know she's getting in to be looked at today. Hopefully they'll be able to tell her what they can do for her. Did a read up on the internet... sounds like there is something they can do, just hoping that they're willing to do it on her. When she asked the urgent care doctor if there was some kind of surgery they could do, he said no... and there is, so who knows. Will let you know how it went.
I hate to keep asking for prayers... been doing that a lot lately, :( but if you could keep her in your thoughts and prayers, I'd really appreciate it.

38 degrees BELOW FREEZING?????? i can't even comprehend that?
it's 65 here.
congrats on the new niece!
3 weeks? wow!
JAK, glad your arm wasn't broken, but OUCH!
Diane, glad your mother is seeing a doc.

LOL, keep in mind that's celcius, so...
-38 degree Celsius = -36.4 degree Fahrenheit
Does that make you feel better, Ann? :)
Ds called me at work...um if it's too cold to go to school, is it too cold to go toboganing? Um...it's cold, yes, but if you want to go toboganing, all the power to ya. Kids  I told him to use his common sense and if he gets cold, GO HOME!!!
Any news from the doctor yet, Diane!

oh it does!!!
you cancel school at 36 degrees?
heck, even as pitiful and unused to the cold as we are, we go to school when it's in the 30's.

missed that minus sign, but not the point! LOL
-38 c and -36 f aren't that far from each other and back to my original point...i can't even fathom that kind of cold!!!

I am actually working at a temp job today. I am playing receptionist for an engineering company here in town. Both of their receprionists called in sick today, and they knew I wasn't working, so they called and asked if I wanted to fill in. I am not sure yet if I will be doing it tomorrow, but we will see. It does seem nice to have some type of income. I had been detailing vehicles on the side to make some money.

Point taken...I knew you likely just missed seeing the -/minus/negative symbol ;) However, I was surprised to see that minus 38 C wasn't much different than minus 36.4 F, since 0 C is 32 F. I tried calling ds to see if he was home and frozen yet, but there was no answer...he's not even answering his cell, so I'm assuming he's still out...and having fun!!!

Thanks, we are hanging in there.
I keep reading Ann's signature (keep on swimming), and I think to myself, yep that is what we are doing...lol!
Hope he isn't frozen, Bev, and that's why he isn't answering! LOL
Sista, I was thinking 'wow they are wimpy'! LOL
Leigh, my dad was just saying this to me today 'yard by yard, life is hard but inch by inch, life's a cinch'...just take it in inches!
Ann, that reminds me of an incident at our univ. recently. A father from Iraq called the main office, I answered. He was concerned because he couldn't reach his dd on her cell phone and wondered if I had seen her. Well, we have over 4,000 students living in residence, and I hardly see a handful each day, lol. I determined that she lived in a graduate house and that the only number we had to reach her was the cell phone number she provided, which he was trying. I told him we'd get a message to her for her to call home. I emailed the girl expressing her father's concern and she emailed back the next a.m. saying that she got in touch with her father and that he was concerned because he's in a warm country and he knows it's cold in Canada and when he couldn't reach her, he though she might have died frozen in the snow, lol...and this was early Feb. when we hardly had any cold/snow.

Got my mom into the clinic in time (9:45) but didn't get called in until just about 11:00. We couldn't complain though because they did squeeze her in and I guess were lucky they were able to do that. The reason why her dr. didn't call yesterday was because he wasn't there, it was his day off. (like someone at the clinic couldn't have told her that instead of promising he'd call her) Anyway... I guess it was a case of miscommunication. :( Her dr. is so nice and she came out feeling so much better about things. He gave her a few prescriptions, one being a muscle relaxer and the other something with codine in it. :( He's sending her to the Sister Kenny Institute for 10 sessions of theropy... more if needed. She seemed to be in MUCH better spirits tonight when I talked with her. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the theropy works.
After we left the clinic I took her to Cub to do her grocery shopping, then to Target to pick up her meds. By that time it was 12:40, so we stopped off to Wendy's to eat lunch. I unloaded her groceries for her, walked the dog and finally got home at about 2:00. Dawn dropped Sarah off by 2:20, dh got home by 4:00... and Sarah didn't get picked back up until 6:00. Needless to say, it's been a long, busy tiring day.
Anyway... thanks to all of you for your well wishes and prayers for my mom. I really appreciate all of you so much. :)
Diane- glad your mom was finally seen. Hope the meds and therapy work.
Leigh- did dh get that job he interviewed for? How's your little guy doing?

I am going to get back to teaching. I am still on leave though, and I will be for the rest of the year. I won't go back next year if she is still the principal. Right now I have applied to Sylvan to teach there, and I have been accepted to do online teaching for them. It isn't the same as being in a classroom, but iti s a job, and I will get to stay home with ds for a little longer.
Car detailing isn't that hard. It is actually what dh and I did when he got out of the army before we both got jobs. I hate the thought of getting started, but once I do, I really love it. I guess I should add that what I mean by car detailing is cleaning the vehicle inside and out completely. I do everything except waxing.
