View Full Version : Back from the Othropedic Doctor
OMG, may I just say that was one heck of a needle....I got a cortisone shot in my shoulder, he did it in about three or four spots....it hurt like no bodies business....right into the muscle that was so sore to start with....he did give me a local first..but man...it hurt..I am about 89 percent better, I should be in a little more discomfort and then start to feel 100 % better, I have exercises to get the strength back in that arm. I am so happy that this should give me relief...not sure how it happened or why though....I did pass on the davocet...all those pain meds, make me nauses....I got Motrin 800 instead....I hate feeling sick and being in pain...Now I just want to sleep
Yeah for Cortisone. :happydnc:
Thank you for all your continued good thoughts and Prayers, I don't know what I would have done with out all of your support.
Glad you're feeling better. I remember when ds had his cortisone shot in his rear-end...I just asked him now how much it hurt and he said he was crying from the pain anyway, so he doesn't remember, lol. I understand they hurt. Take it easy.

Glad things are looking up for you, Renee!
I had a cortisone shot in my upper back years ago and it hurt, but what relief! But if memory serves me right, it eventually wore off. I don't want to burst your bubble, but ask your doc if that will happen--and take advantage of the pain-free time to build up your strenghth.

Renee, really glad to hear you got some relief. So it's a sore muscle, not bursitis or is there some of that in there, too.
Hope you are feeling more like your old self today and the shots/meds worked for you. :)

Now it's sore muscles  ...LOL...the needle was a 10 gauge, so it looked like the size of a bic pen refill....
 He believes it was tendionitis...not sure how it was caused...I feel really good today, but my shoulder is sore from the shots, and him moving the needle about in there...YUCK...dh said it was pretty gross.... I have a spot that hasn't really been helped, but my entire shoulder/arm is pretty weak, I need to schedual a phyical theraphy session for this week dr. orders....I can't believe how much better it feels, that and how much better I feel not taking those pain pills, YUCK I was really getting sick to my stomach every day with those, and not much pain relief....Motrin 800 is ok on my stomach so I will stick to that....
Thanks again for all your kind words and Happy thoughts.:) need to get this body back in shape so I don't go through that again soon.
so what was the diagnosis?
my dad and mil both have had those shot and they have said how much it hurts, i am glad that it is giving you relief

He wrote down Tendonitis/Bursitis
will the shot cure it?
up to 4 to six months, if I work that shoulder right with physical therapy and keep it strong I might be able to avoid another bout.
well, follow the doctor's instructions!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad you're feeling better, Renee!!! Work hard and fast on those pt sessions. Sometimes the cortisone shots don't work as long as the docs say. :( (I really don't want to burst your bubble, but that happened to my mom.)
well, follow the doctor's instructions!!!!!!!!!!
uh..that is, only if YOU want to. i don't want to impose my opinion on you! :newwink:

well the scapula is still moving with my arm, so that isn't good...but he did give me a new exercise for just that movement, need to stretch it out, and it work, just hurts a little
He did say that the exercises I am doing at home are really helping, and that I have made really good progess, asked about prevention of this happening again, and he told me to get my upper body into shape, meaning some light lifing three to four times a week....well, I am thinking dh and I are getting GYM memberships for Christmas...I need the personal trainer support....

get free weights. ask your therapist for some exercises and then do them while you are watching tv at night.
