View Full Version : Good Monday
Well it's been two days since I've been on and it looks like I didn't miss much. It took me about 30 minutes to read new posts. I guess everyone had a busy weekend.
Today I've got to weed the flower beds (pretty quickly, if I want to beat the sun), clean the house, and promised ds I'd bake him some peanut butter cookies and brownies.
We have a gospel meeting this week so that will take care of my evenings for a while.
Weather is beautiful, but starting to get hot. It was 95 yesterday. Looks like summer is here.
Hope everyone has a good day. Better tend to the weeds.
This is the first day of my summer vacation. I finished packing up and cleaning my classroom on Friday, and the lazy days of summer are here. We don't have any big plans this year, just some time to relax, re-energize, and enjoy. (Oh yes, and catch up on all the things that I kept putting off "till school is done"! Looking around my house, there are a lot of things that will keep me occupied. Yikes!!)
Our weather is beautiful. The summers here make the winters bearable. I may just take a walk in the woods and go exploring. Have a great day everyone.

So far I've only got 3 kids... so if no more show up I'm planning on baking some peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies with the ones I have. Right now were having a lot of rain, thunder/lightening and hail... so I'm thinking it will be a good day to be inside doing something fun. I absolutely LOVE not having too many kids... I've cut down from 12 kids to 5, and so far that seems to work for me. I have an interview for another 2-1/2 year old some time this morning, so if he seems to fit in well during the interview... I'll probably be starting with him some time next week. :) I've pretty much decided that instead of quitting day care completely I'd quit the ones that were giving me the most problems, stay within one certain age group (1 to 4-1/2) and see how that works out. I decided that I love what I do, and seeing that I'm too attached to some of my kids and their families (and them to me) I'd try cutting back and doing this for a while. So far I'm loving it! I do plan on quitting in a few years... but not until my youngest graduates from HS.
Anyway... I hope that everybody had a great weekend. Looking at the board and lack of posts... I can see that everybody at least had a busy one. LOL :) Have a good day all...

Diane,
Have your rates stayed the same since you no longer have as many kids?
Good Morning! Just had to stop by and say hi :) I've been up and going for awhile...my oldest dd is in summer phys ed and my youngest dd is helping with summer school so it's up and go here. This morning is beautiful...I plan to head out to the patio in a few minutes before it gets too hot. That, and I need to pick up. Mondays are always like that...
Is everyone enjoying their summer so far? No complaints here except for being busy and not getting to IB like I want to. It doesn't help that I have to share the computer with the kids does it?
Kat, good luck with the weeding....I should be checking my plants this am, too!
Cathy, enjoy your first day off!
Diane, it sounds like you're doing well with your daycare. You sound happy! :) I hope the storms aren't too bad...we have them forecast for tomorrow and then cooler air in the 70's.
You all made me hungry with your baking! I'll have to get at that myself...later this week. It's too hot today.
Have a great Monday whatever you do! :)

Good morning! This begins the final week for ds's "readiness" class. He has loved it and is learning alot more than I thought he would. My MIL picked up my dd and took her to VBS this morning. So, after I drop ds at school I have 2 whole hours alone in the house. I really need to clean, but I would love to scrapbook!!
It is very hot today and scattered rain in the area. It will be a good day to stay in!!

Not much on our agenda today...after a wknd on the go it feels good. :) I need to try to get caught up on laundry and we'll probably head to the library later. It's humid this morning and I think we may be in for some storms today.
:) Have a good day! :)

I'm in such a great mood this morning! Last week was kind of gloomy with the office closing, but I'm really starting to perk up. I had a great Father's Day yesterday and that really helps.
I'll be spending my week at work doing my usual stuff while devoting time to setting up my home office. I brought in a box today to start slowly moving things home. I get a cable modem installed tomorrow (Woo Hoo!) and that is one of my big obstacles solved for working out of the home. I can at least call and be on the computer at the same time after it is in. The second phone line goes in on the 27th.
I'm hoping the temps fall a bit b/c ds is dying to go camping! He loves to "play camping" and we camped in the back yard last week. He kept saying "I want to go camping in a forest." ds is soooooooo cute!
So, weather permitting I think we may try to go camping in the near future. It is relatively inexpensive and I love talking by a fire... there is just nothing like it. Well, I hope you all have an excellent week!

It's nice a hot today!! About all I've gotten done lately is check to see what messages are here. It has been quite busy lately.
Last week we had Bible school every afternoon. I took care of the daycare group which was made up of the volunteers' kids. I had a total of 7 that were there, but not all on the same days. It was so much fun!!!
We had ball games Tues., Thurs and Friday nites. Saturday dh had to measure a room for some people here in town. (he's finally getting some contacts made! :)) I took the younger kids swimming Sat. afternoon while dh went fishing with his brother, nephew and our older boys.
Yesterday (Father's Day) ds #1 left for Boy Scout camp. He'll be back Sat. We went swimming again. We had a classic car club holding a show in town this weekend so the cub scouts put out the Welcome flags. We helped them take them down last night.
Today I've already taken ds #2 and dd#1 to swimming lessons. Dd is in the first level because she's always been so afraid of getting her face in the water we waited to start here. In her group there is a little girl that is barely 4. It makes it really hard for the life guard to teach because they have to constantly chase or hold on to the younger ones. :( Wish they would have another life guard to help or been able to schedule another class for the younger ones.
The rest of my day is free from appts. No games or meetings! :) I need to clean house and get ds started on some 4-h projects.
OH, I almost forgot! I have an interview set up at the preschool for next Monday! The director said they were only going to interview me and see if we could work out the hours so I wouldn't have to pay so much for daycare for my youngest one. I hope it works out. After helping with the Bible school, I'm anxious to get back to teaching preschool!
Hope you all have a good day!!
Linda, Good luck with the interview. Perfect hours would be "when I'm ready to get there and start, until the time that I feel that I want to leave." LOL Anything that resembles that is unlikely, however, so I hope they suggest something you can live with.
And for someone who started with "I haven't gotten much done", you sound busy.

No... I'm still charging the same as before. I don't really mind not making as much money... I am SO much happier and that means more to me than making lots of money. :)

Oh I agree. I just know people will pay more for a lower ratio. But, if these are families you've worked with for a long time and are close to, it probably wouldn't be worth it to go up on your rate.
Evening. Had that funeral today..so sad and such a waste! :( Then went to the mother's house for lunch, picked up my kids at the friend who watching them house, then came home changed clothes, took them to see Atlantis with the swim team (was actually pretty good, I had heard not great things about it, but I thought it was pretty clever) then came home, fixed dinner and I have sent the boys off to the Astros game. I just was too pooped to go! And now I am here!! LOL
DH has his annual exam with his nuerologist tomorrow and I called and talked to his nurse cause I am really concerned that this medicines are causing him to have sort term memory loss, and mood swings. The nurse was great. I did tell dh that I was concerned about this and wanted him to talk to the doc (hope he remembers! ;) ), but I didn't fess up to calling the doc's office...I wimped! It will be interesting to see what happens.
btw..who is the "Rae" person who occasionally posts here and acts like she knows everyone???? :newwink:

Good evening.
Took ds to meet the doctors at the hospital today. Went well but I think he is starting to get nervous about his tonsil comming out on Friday. He wanted to know if they take them out by tweezers or scissors so I said we would ask when we get there on Fri. (he asked me on the way home). I hope he forgets because he said no scissors were going into his mouth.
The painters are back tomorrow and were here today. They are done the kitchen and dining room and do the living room tomorrow. I didn't know they would do the hall upstairs where there were minor repairs so they had to open the bedroom doors to paint them. YIKES! My bedroom is a mess, I mean, clothes on the floor and clutter from the kitchen hiding in there in baskets. I have been so busy around here this last week or two that I haven't been able to clean my own room and it's hard to get laundry done when they are working in the house. Anyhow, talk about embarrassing.
Ann, please let us know how things went with the doctors for your dh and if it's the meds causing the memory loss.
It's been hot and humid here and a bit cooler today. On the weekend we had a storm and some areas were hit harder than others. A few teens were hit by lightening and one 16 yr old girl died. Such a shame. Our town was not affected by the winds or anything.
Have a good night all.

Ann- Hope all goes well for your dh tomorrow and that he gets some answers.
Melody - How old is your ds? Does he come home the same day or do they keep him overnight? Good luck to you guys on Friday! :) So sad about the girl killed by lightning. :(
