Okay, dumb topic/question but here goes. Say you make, or are somewhere that has trailmix. Do you pick out only the things you like from it or do you take/eat all of it, including those things that you're not terribly fond of? If you've made it and see someone else picking in it, like your kids or dh, would you say something to them about it? :)
One of the dj's on the station I listen to had a big fight with her dh because he had made some trail mix. He told her to stop picking and choosing and only taking/eating those things that she wanted/liked... he said it was ruining his trail mix. To eat it as a whole or none at all. :( She thought he was being incredibly rude and was wrong, and told him so. They had people calling in giving their opinions, and most (actually all) thought she was wrong and said that she owed him an apology. So... do you pick/choose... ? I know when I've gotten a can of mixed nuts... I'm a good one for picking out all the cashews/almonds... so I'm assuming I'd probably do the same thing when it came to a trail mix. What do you think? If you're not a picker/chooser... do you know someone who is?

LOL was she just picking all the things she liked out of the CONTANIER? or taking a handful and picking out what she liked and pitching the rest....hey once you have served yourself a serving who cares what is done with it...as long as she wasn't putting the un eated part back into his mixture...EWWWHHH
a can of mixed nuts popped into my head as i was reading this. i HATE when people pick out parts of the can. What happens if I like cashews too, but they have been all picked out? I think it is inconsdierate. It's like putting back an empty carton of milk.

Yuck, take a hand full and walk away, that's like Double Dipping....putting back what you don't like or picking out ONLY what you do....
I agree that if you are eating something that's mixed...eat everything and not just pick out what you like. If you just want what you like, then just buy that, lol.

If/when I like a particular thing, (like cashews) I always buy another can or two of that one thing and add it to the mix... so I know there will be plenty for everyone.
I'm thinking in this case he dumped the whole thing in a bowl and she just sat and picked out what she wanted/liked, and left what she didn't care for. :(

Okay, for those of you who say eat it all....
If you buy the can of mixed nuts, would you rather the 'picker' not waste the ones they don't like - like in case some one else in the family likes what they are leaving?? (That's my theory when I pick thru the can. ;))
At home I pick out what I like most. When it's Chex Mix ds2 and I balance each other out. :D
If I am making my own trail mix I only put in stuff I like, so this thread wouldn't apply to me then. LOL
If I were at someone's house I would not pick - I would just take a handful and eat what I liked and toss the rest. :)

If he made it just for the family, I don't see what the big deal is. I am assuming he put in things he liked, so maybe he'd eat what she left behind?? I would do that to dh and probably not think twice about it. :tinysmile
I make a snack mix and dh hates the garlic pretzels I put in it and won't eat them, so how would that be any different?
I guess what I am tryingto say LOL is I really don't see what the big deal is if this is a 'family' mix.

That's what this chick thought... Instead of taking/wasting what she didn't like and wasn't going to eat anyway, she'd just pick out what she liked and leave the rest (what might be someone elses favorite) in there instead of throwing it away. Seems to make sense to me but... I can totally understand where he was coming from. LOL

I'm with Karla. If it's a family mix, I see no problem with people picking out what they like. I'd much rather see my kids/dh do that than take a handful and waste what they don't like.
LOL, I think this dh/dw is making a way bigger deal out of this than is necessary...I mean, we're talking fruit and nuts here :)
