dh came home friday night and said we had to take a detour on the way to my moms Sat. morning so had to leave extra early. He found a place that he thought would be great for our new home but wanted to get my opinion and see what the dks thought. It was great!!!
about 10 acres just outside the city. The house is only 10 years old. 4 large bedrooms upstairs and one in the basement. (the kids love the inground pool out the back). There is even a small barn, so dh promised the kids ponies, but not till next year. It will still be about 45 min drive for dh to work but atleast he will be home every night.:yippee:
We put in our offer and it was accepted almost immedieatly. Because of some paperwork they can not legally sign off on the house until Aug. but since it is vacent anyway said that we can move in July 1. if we want to for only an extra $400. (rent) We agreed to take it. We will move just what we need that weekend and have until the 21st to be out of our place here, so have almost a month to work on moving everything else. I'm so excited. If you don't hear from me as often, you know I am busy packing. The first of July is only two weeks away!
I have also been offered a position for the summer at a day-care where SIL works in their JR summer camp program. Ds will be able to be with me and dd in the older group. (1/2 price rates for employees). By sept. we will have to see how I feel, and if I still want to stay on for a bit.

Wow... CONGRATULATIONS on finding a house, it sounds awesome. Your kids will LOVE that inground pool... The best thing we ever did was to put our pool in. The kids and their friends have gotten so much use out of it... plus it's nice to have when relatives come into town... mY place is always the place they choose to come. LOL I'm glad that everything is finally falling into place for you... :)

Fantastic. Things sound like they are going so well for you. I'm glad you found such a great house. Congrats. And to have the extra time instead of all in one weekend is wonderful.

I hate to be a negative voice, and maybe I don't understand the differences between US and Candian real estate deals, but I would be very careful about moving into a house and fixing it up when I don't legally own it. What happens if you don't close in August? Are you going to be compensated for any repairs that you do? What guarrantees do you have that they won't string you along for rent (even though it's cheap rent).

I am sure everything will all work out, but I would sure check that out.

From what I have seen it is to the seller's disadvantage to have early occupancy. I have seen buyers move in before closing and then move out because they didn't like something about it and not close on it. Usually the home is in worse shape after they move out too.

I never advise my clients to allow early occupancy. Because on top of the fact that the transaction may not occur, the house could be ruined......AND.....your broker is due their commission whether it actually closes or not. As a buyer however....I'd go for it, but probably wouldn't do to much fix up until after final closing.

Blah, blah, blah.....here I go again...

Congratulations! Isn't it just great when things fall into place like that. Be sure you take it easy. I agree with darlene get help, and lots of it.

Enjoy the pool. I never really wanted one, because of the extra work (we live among 18 huge oak trees), but ds hates to swim when too many people are around. Won't go to the city pool, and if too many people are at the lake, he won't swim. Took him to the lake yesterday (just around the bend), but had to turn around and leave because of the people. Ugh!

That was our #1 reason for getting our own pool. Seeing I couldn't swim (I was SO embarrassed) I didn't like being around a lot of people... nor did the kids. This way we can go swimming whenever we want to and have all the privacy we want too. We've never been sorry for getting the pool, and really IMHO... I don't think they're really that much work. :)

Congratulations on finding a home. I bet it feels nice to have a timetable and a destination. That feeling of 'I'm not sure how this is going to work' is exhausting.

Thanks for the advise Ann!!

We hadn't planned on doing anything until it was legally signed over in our name. Always wise to be cautious. dh is working out some deal between the lawyers this week that will protect our interests.
The family we are buying it off, is a friend, of a friend of a friend type of thing so hopefully nothing negative will come out of it. Thanks for being concerned. It's always good to have someone watching out for you!!!:)
