It is suppose to be sunny and high of 52. I think I can handle that! :) I am going to try and get my work done early today so there will be nothing hanging over my head when I sit down to read my stack of magazines that came yesterday.

I've got the whole day to myself so I'm going to go through all my stuff that has anything to do with the wedding, and get all that packed up in containers so we can take them to the hall to decorate on Friday morning. Just bringing the large glass containers for the candy buffet is going to be a chore... LOL (who's big idea was that anyway? :) ) I'm already working on my laundry, which I didn't get done yesterday. Sarah has a bad cough/cold and needed more cuddle time than normal, which I didn't mind. :) LOL I hope she's feeling better by Saturday... 8o I've also got to get to grocery store. I want to be prepared just in case we end up with some unexpected company. :)

AI tonight... two will be going home. :( I'm thinking one could be LaKeisha, but it's hard to say. I'm just glad that Sanjaya isn't there anymore. :)

Hope you all have a great day!

Have a great lunch with your dad, Renee!

Organizer/cleaner is coming today. My friend is also coming to help me figure out what to do with my livingroom/dining room area (she has great taste). I'm leaning towards the attached furniture for the dining room. I'm thinking I'll have to dust a lot, though, since it's so dark. I think my friend and I are going to differ on one thing, though--I have books and like bookcases. I was thinking of going with book shelving that will go with the dining room furniture and I want them in the area between the dining room and living room, where the ceiling peaks. She thinks I need to put the books I don't look at frequently away (she's not a book person) and the ones that I want out need to go in the bedrooms. Do you guys have bookcases? I'd have a library/reference room if I had the space.

Drumming later and that's it here.

pretty table. what kind of finish is it? will you have to be careful about protecting it or can you just cover up the scratches with something like old english? the biggest mistake i made is getting a high gloss table. it's gorgeous cherrywood, but you hardly get to see it cause the finish is so easliy scratched.
are you keeping the chairs white?

i have seen people do their dinings rooms almost like they were in a library with a floor to ceiling bookcase either on one wall or all the way around.
could you do something like have a bookcase that could double as a sideboard?

Ohhh I remember dd's rock 'n roll party! We burned cd's for the invites and made the cover hold all the party details and we had twinkle lights and cds hanging from the ceiling. I bought inflatable instruments and they made a music video. After they went to bed, I made copies for each to take home... they are a riot!
OH!! ROFL!! I just remembered dh was the "bouncer" at the front door. heehee
He had on a kinky blonde wig, his jean jacket and rocker sunglasses. He stamped their hands as they went in. He is a hoot at her parties!
Have a great time!!!

The lights are a great idea. She wants streamers everywhere. I was going to put the strobe light and music at the front door. I think I will put ds at the door as the bouncer/stamper person. He would love that. We have a disco type light to use inside. The video is a fantastic idea too. Any more??

We have 3 book cases in our bedroom, one in our office and one in the playroom for the kids books. The ones in our bedroom were all in the office until we moved a treadmill in there. I think so long as they are well done bookcases that go with the table/chairs (which are beautiful by the way) it will look fabulous.

I'm with you on the high gloss cherry table Ann. It's beautiful but no one ever sees mine because it mars/scratches so easily. My chair covers are white too and what a PITA that is! I guess it would be better if it wasn't the table we constantly used though?!

Uh.... the party colors were pink and black. I bought a pink tablecloth and painted black stars on it and then sprinkled the stars with black glitter while the paint was wet.
The centerpiece was a mirror ball with a black feather boa around it. There were pink, white and silver streamers, balloons and curling ribbon everywhere.
Her cake was a white square and I did a disco ball on it. I used a silver icing and "luster dust" - an edible glitter, no actually that was what gave the icing the silver color.
She and I made a pinata and it looked like a mirrored disco ball.
I moved the sofa to the other side of the den to make the 'stage' area and hung the twinkle lights against the wall and then hung a white sheet to mute the light and make a good backdrop for the video. Then hung cds and streamers from the ceiling.
I had "stage" makeup out for them to doll themselves up in and some wild dress up clothes.
That was a FUN party. They loved seeing their video the next morning. LOL

I love the cd's as decoration. She passed out 2 of her invitations today and the girls were squealing! I thought I might use bead stands too. I'm not doing a pinata since I spent $13 on each Webkinz that is the "goodie bag." That is outrageous! lol

I can't believe I actually found 9 Webkinz. Well, I found 2, my mil found 2 and my mom found 7. Apparently she pulls some weight at her Hallmark store or something, lol.

A valued customer, huh? :)
We're not allowed to take requests for them anymore, or even call customers when they arrive. They (Webkinz) are such a pain in the neck; much like Ty Beanie Babies when they were so hot.
We are supposed to have gotten a big shipment yesterday, guess I'll see when I go to work tonight.

Love beaded curtains! Sounds like a fun party. :)

Thank you for the tips on the high-gloss cherry, Ann and Angie! This is beech veneer that is stained dark (I think!). It's not a good solid table that you'd pass down to your kids or anything, but I like the look.

Also, I was talking to this friend who is good at decorating and she says that she buys cheap living room furniture because there's no way she's going to have the same sofa and chair for 15 years--she gets bored and changes often. I like this idea. I have been going for long-lasting, good furniture, but I'm already sick of the furniture I bought 18 months ago (not sure what the heck I was thinking). So, I'm thinking this might be the better way to go for sofas in the future.

And Angie, I'm not sure I like the off-white material for the chairs (I think it will look filthy with two kids running around). I might order a darker tan or another color altogether, but I have no clue what color I'd choose. I'm really decorating-impaired. All the rooms in my house were different shades of off-white. I finally took a leap with my bedroom and love it and I did ds' room in a gold color and it looks great, too. But I agonized over it. And I also panic at the thoughts of hanging a photo--I worry that I'll put the hole in the wrong place  , but I know that's not logical...if it's wrong, so what? Put some spackle there and make a hole somewhere else.

Anyway, thank you guys for your thoughts--I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the bookshelves. I was thinking about it and I think it might be an eastern thing--not wanting books on display. I can't think of anyone who has bookcases in their living room or family room back east, but here people do it all the time.

Thanks, again!

has your friend never heard of re-upholstery?? i have furniture that i have owned for over 20 years. if i get tired of the look, i change the upholstery. that way you have quality furniture AND you like how it looks.
i never use the fabric that comes with a dining room chair. at most they take two yards of fabric (more like 1 yard). go to the fabric store and pick out a fabric you like. if you have a good stable gun, you can reupholster them yourself.

Yeah, it would end up at Goodwill when I died! LOL!

Hmmm...maybe it's a Pittsburgh thing, then! I don't know, but she came over and gave me some GREAT ideas...and I think I'm getting this futon for my spare bedroom: http://www.daniafurniture.com/?page=shop/view_product&product_id=1318 which will mean no more queen bed, so I'll have room for my books and desk in there (leaving my living/dining area open). I think that will work better. I'm feeling excited!

I have called around for quotes to reupholster here and I can't remember the exact figure, but the cheapest was over $1000 for a loveseat and sofa. I remember thinking I should probably put that towards new stuff.

The chairs don't have just the seat in fabric--the fabric goes up the back, too. I've done just the seat, but I don't think I could handle the backs. My friend said she has microfiber stuff and it's easy to clean. But these chairs really are a light color. I can just order them in another color--same price, I believe, but a long wait for it.
