Renee...hope you get the results soon!

Not much on here, we had our Juevinille Diabetetis swim a thon today. DS for the past 3 years has won the record for the most laps swam (swum?? LOL) . Anyway this am about 9:15, ds says "isn't it time to go to the pool?" I said to him.."how many pledges did you get?" Neither kid had made any effort to get any! They were both like "well, I have some money" I had told them several times that unless they made some effort to raise some money they were NOT going to swim..this wasn't about getting to swim or swimming the most laps, but raising money to fight a horrible disease. Guess they didn't believe me. Well, now they do..we didn't go. DS is off pouting in his room that his record is now ruined..but tough! So, that's my day..doesn't it sound like fun!! LOL

Renee - Glad to see you checking in! :) Hopefully they'll give you your results soon!

Ann - You mean mom! :newwink: It's tough to do, but it's a good lesson learned for them.

We just got back from picking strawberries at our new house and now ds and I are heading out to run thru the sprinkler. Brr! I'm actually hoping to stay dry! Wish me luck! LOL!

Slow day here today. Took ds swimming at the lake this morning at 10:30. Fewer people, he swam for about an hour. Then home to make lunch. I just dropped him off at the local animal shelter where he volunteers on Tues. and Thurs. The weeding is all finished, the house is clean and quite. I can't decide if I want to take a nap or read.

Renee, waiting is the pits. Hang in there. I'm sure good news is on the way.

Ann, sometimes you just have to be tough. I am stuggling with ds this summer to get him involved whole heartedly in the service projects this summer. Again, I think his biggest trouble is social anxiety. It is killing me to see this increase in him. I flashback to my days of the shy wallflower.

Karla, the strawberries sound great. Season here was over a month ago, and I never made it out to pick any. And the strawberry field is just a mile away.

Kat, I have no problem being tough, but it just kills me when they don't seem to learn from it!!! Is your ds doing the service work, but just not "cheerfully"? Then I might be inclined to not press it, maybe he needs to see more of how his work is really helping before he understands the benefits to him a little better.
Good luck..and remember when we thought it would be easier when they got older???? ROFL!

Good Tuesday everyone!! I went to the grocery store today while ds and dd were in school. Brichard stayed home this morning so we could get our cable modem installed. He is off on an appointment now. I took ds for his 5 year immunizations (3 of them). Now the kids are playing/fighting at my feet at such a loud decible (Sp) I am sure you must hear them???

Well, I have got to clean this house before tomorrow. I am having our mops craft team here at 10. HELP!!!!!

Well, ds is STILL in his room in a pout! His best friend just called worried cause he wasn't there, and ds wouldn't tell him why! LOL

The doc wants dh to have another MRI and BAAP (it measure brain/hearing ratio..or something like that! ;) ), I don't know if he's doing it as an annual test or if he is wondering if there has been a change based on my concerns...don't know if dh had any worries. He didn't say whether or not the doctor "outed" me, and didn't seem to be mad, so..that's a good sign.

kat - How old is your ds? Mine is 4 and we seem to be dealing with some of the same issues. We can go places, but he generally won't venture too far away from us.

angie - How did your ds do with his immunizations? Did you tell him ahead of time that he had to get them? I always dreaded them as a child. :nervous:

Ann- Hope all of the tests go well for your dh. When will he go back in for them?

Had a wonderful afternoon outside with ds. Need to shower while dh is making supper! :D Hope to go for a walk tonight and then do a little packing.

Karla..he is going to try to schedule them as soon as possible. If they don't find anything he is due back to the doc in December.

Karla - Ds did great! I told him ahead of time what that we were going to do it. Then I didn't say much about until today so he wouldn't worry (and grind his teeth all night!). The first two shots were a snap, then came the MMR which burns and he started to cry. He was ok when we left and picked out a book that they offered. We made a trip to the dollar store and picked out a few toys. When we got home he rode his bike for a long time. The nurse told us the more he used his legs today the less sore he would be.

I really have alot of compassion/praise for those parents with "sick" children who have to watch their babies being poked and prodded. They deserve a special place in heaven and on earth.

So glad your ds did well! Some of those shots can burn going in. :(

He is 12 and that's why I am increasingly more worried. (I can understand your son at 4.) Ds does not like crowds. He has even begun not wanting to go out and eat with us. He'd rather we all stayed home.

That must be difficult. :( Have you talked to anyone? How does he do at school? Ds's preschool teacher last year told me to ask our dr about social anxiety disorder, but I never did. I am hoping it is something he will outgrow and I think with a better teacher he could thrive. Good luck with your ds! :)

From all your posts about your ds, it doesn't sound like a social anxiety disorder to me. I think the teacher is the one with the problem not ds.

Thanks! :) I talked to one of ds's "old" teachers" yesterday - the one we hope to get this fall. She is wonderful and we had a great chat. She said ds's teacher this past year was completely overwhelmed. I suspected that, but still don't think the kids should have suffered for it. :(

I hope your ds isn't succeeding in making you feel guilty... LOL Just about every time I took a stand with my kids they would try SO hard to make ME look like the bad guy when it was nobody's fault but their own. I'm sure that the next time you tell him to do something... he'll remember this incident and do what he's told to do... LOL It only takes a few times and they learn. :) I hope he doesn't carry this on for too long... I just HATE it when they do that. :)

One of the girls that my dh works with brought him a bunch of fresh strawberries yesterday... so we had strawberry shortcake last night. They were SOOO good. There was a strawberry in there that was about the size of my fist. It was the biggest strawberry I've ever seen. I almost hated to cut it up. :) I hope you enjoy yours too. :)

Good luck with his tests... I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything comes out okay. I'll keep him (and you) in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know how everything goes.

Nope..didn't try..I think he needed to stay in his room so he could chill and get over his disappointment.
