View Full Version : Daytona 500 Crash
I was at work so I didn't see it, but I saw the headlines on the internet news. Dale Earnhardt died in a crash today, during the last lap of the race. Dh and Ds are both really sad. Dale Earnhardt was their favorite driver. :(
I can't help but wonder, though: Do you think Dale may have had a premonition this morning that this would be his last race? Sometimes people get premonitions before their death. I wonder if Dale had any "funny" feelings at all. At least he died doing what he loved best. :)
Another irony is that the two cars owned by his company, driven by Michael Waltrip and his son, Dale Jr. won first and second in the race. I'm just blown away. Dh is devastated.

I just heard and came on line to look it up. It is sad. I feel for his son and his team mate. How can you celebrate your win when your friend dies? :(

My husband and I are big Nascar fans. Our favorite driver is Mark Martin, but that doesn't mean that it is not sad that Dale was killed. My husband is devastated too. He said that he feels for his family and friends, and so do I. It is also kind of ironic, like it was his time to go because did you see the crash that had 18 cars involoved. Tony Stewart's car was air born long enough for cars to drive under it and it flipped about 6 times, and he walked away only complaining of his shoulder. Then Dale just hits the wall and he doesn't make it. It does make you think doesn't it.

I just can't believe it...my husband works in construction retail and they have a few Dale Earnhardt endorsed items and a few of his co-workers decided to take them because they are going to be worth money now that he died. What gets into people why are they so cold? They weren't even fans.

I heard today that flipping is actually less damaging than hitting something directly. Dale hit directly into the wall going 180mph.
