I'm in a painting mood

Not too noteworthy. LOL I'm going to re-paint the dining room this weekend but...

I'm thinking about painting my dining room furniture. :nervous::nervous::nervous:
It's not great quality, it was grandmother's though... but it sat in her house 10+ years without any care and most of the chairs have broken (I'm down to 4).

I'd like a more casual dining room, so I thought about painting it a matte black and recovering the chairs in either a tan or pick a color out of my window treatments.

Am I nuts???!!!!

I also want to paint an old wooden step ladder I have on my back deck. I want a whimsical look, so I can't decide if I should paint it one base color, then do splashes of color, or do each rung it's own color... I need feedback. LOL

is there any value in refinishing/refurbishing the table?
if not, i think painting it sounds great. how would it blend with your other furniture in your room?

maybe paint the ladder and do a couple of rungs and see how you like it. then you can decide if you would rather have splashes.

i think i've decided to do the ladder multi-color with polka dots, circles, etc.

the dining room - i don't have the disposable income to have it refinished and i'm not getting into that myself. i'll run the idea by mom and if it sends her into cardiac arrest, i'll know it's the wrong thing to do. LOL
the table/chairs, hutch and buffet are all the furniture in that room
