Ds #3 turns 10 in a couple weeks. He's never had a big, exciting birthday party and I'd like to do something special. He really wants something to do with Pokemon but since I don't understand enough about it and dh doesn't even want to encourage pokemon at all, I had to come up with a different theme. I was thinking of some way to incorporate "10" into it.
The only thought I came up with for the party to start at a time with 10 in it like: 10 till 10 or 10 till (xx:xx) and end at 10- after (xx:xx). That's about as far as I've gotten.
I'm not entirely sure where/when(day of the week--his birthday is on a Wednesday) I want to have the party either. I'd appreciate any and all ideas you may have. TIA!!

Fun idea, Linda!
How about making the cake in the shape of a 10 (use a round cake pan, cut out the center for the 0, and a square pan to cut out a 1...you have the cut parts as extras).
Everyone gets 10 pieces of candy in a goodie bag...
Hmmmm...let me think some more about this. Fun!

That is an awesome idea...all I can think of now is invite 10 friends, and have them write 10 things that they like about your ds or 10 fond memories that they have had with your ds. Let me too give it some more thought.

When my dad turned 60 this year, I made his cake in the shape of a 60, so that was my first thought too....lol!

You could use 10 different colors to decorate.
1. plates
2. napkins
3. cups
4. forks
5. spoons
6 & 7. balloons
8 & 9. streamers
10. table cloth
You could have 10 things setting on the table for decorations. Maybe one thing from each year of his life.
i.e. a toy he liked as an infant, a toy he liked when he was one, etc...

It's a real "treat" for 10 year olds to stay at a party until 10:00pm. Maybe have the party at 7:00...serve hotdogs/chips/cake...have a kickball game...watch a movie...and have parents come pick up at 10:00. ??? Or have a pancake party that begins at 10:00 a.m., and ends at 1:00 (or so).

If you use Mary's idea of ending at 10:00, you can add a line in the poem that says....
Since ds is turning 10,
That is when we'll have the party end.
or if you begin at 10, you could say
Since ds is turning 10,
that is when we'll let the fun begin.

Wow you guys are way too creative...all I thought of was a scavenger hunt...for "10" things.
... and have them write 10 things that they like about your ds or 10 fond memories that they have had with your ds.
i just had to giggle at this..
you could hardly get grown men to do this, much less 10 year old boys! ;)

Here is an idea that builds on this and uses Mary's idea too, you could do a scavenger hunt for things like "ten"nis shoes, "tin" foil, "ten"nis rackets or "ten"nis balls, etc.....
