Done shopping, not really in the spirit of things. Not exactly a grinch (yet) either. At least I'm not stressing about gifts.

I got snow, I got decorations and no spirit. Now you are telling me I only have 19 days to find it?? ARRRGGH! LOL It just doesn't come easily to me. Life it usually too fast paced for me to catch my breath enough to indulge in my fantasy of Christmas cheer. KWIM?

Let me ask this...

What does Christmas Spirit mean to you all?

I'm with Amy. I purposely put up the tree and decorations earlier this year because the last two years I had to put them up so much later due to renovations. I expected to be put in the Christmas mood because of it and I'm not. I have hardly made a dent in my shopping, heck I don't even have a list made and normally I at least have that done.

That being said, this Sat., me, dh, sister and BIL are going to Toronto to two malls to shop and I plan on getting a big chunk of my shopping done then. I also have to bake 9 dozen cookies for a cookie exchange at work next Tuesday, so I will do that on Sunday. If neither of these put me in the Christmas spirit, nothing will.

What does Christmas Spirit mean to you all?

that i feel thankful for my saviour and what he has done for me, thankful for my family and overall sense of happiness.

I'm probably more in the Christmas mood this year than I was at this time last year. I'm just really looking forward to Christmas this year.

that i feel thankful for my saviour and what he has done for me, thankful for my family and overall sense of happiness.

Then I guess I do have the Christmas spirit, considering that's what I feel is the meaning too. However, my overall sense of happiness is not what it used to be.

Actually... I was more excited about Christmas when the girls were little. I always enjoyed all the fun and excitement they brought into the home. We just loved going shopping for all those fun/cute toys... and just loved watching them open all their gifts on Christmas morning and hearing their squeals of delight! Now their gifts mainly consist of gc's... it's not quite the same. I'm SO glad we have Sarah to buy for and to watch open her gifts... and can't wait for more grandkids. :)

I'm pretty much done shopping exept for a couple of gifts cards. Most things are wrapped and stocking stuff placed into boxes. I'm totally into Christmas this year. My kids are at great ages for it. Now, if I can just keep from gaining weight all will be good...

My favorite Christmas time day is when our church delivers to all the needy families. Wow!

besides this time of year being the anniversary of my mom's death, i think that's a big part of it. the kids don't believe, we have to wake them up to open their presents, all the traditions i had and the kids had are gone..it's just not fun anymore.

Could you start your own traditions?

I know what you mean though. Since my mom passed, Christmas Eve just isn't what it used to be. My family always spent the evening at my parents and then did their own thing or spent time with s/o's families on C-mas day. My sister tries to keep it going, but it's really fizzled out. Now, Christmas day isn't a big day for dh, ds and myself. I'm not cooking a big meal for the three of us. We always hope to get invited to spend the meal with any other family members who will invite us. This year we thought we were getting an invite out as dh's brother asked us what we were doing and I said I didn't know...wait for it, here comes the invitation..."why don't you invite Ma and G for dinner, since we'll be going to the in-laws". What? Now I'm making a meal and have to turn down an invite out if we get it, lol.

Anyway, to make a long story short (I must be in the mood to type today), I asked ds what we can do, the three of us, to make Christmas day more fun and interesting, add traditions, so that when he grows up and moves away, he'll WANT to come spend the day with us instead of hoping for an invitation somewhere's else. He had no suggestions but did wonder why he wouldn't be spending the day with us anyway...gotta love him, lol.

I'm WAY behind on my shopping...and feel a little stressed about that. I'm giving a lot of gift cards this year (nieces/nephews/parents/etc).

Our tree will (hopefully) go up this weekend. Dh's company Christmas party is on Saturday night...so that will be a good way to rev up for the season.

I'm so swamped at work...that it's hard to concentrate on the "home" holiday stuff.

I can only imagine how hard this time of year is for you....
I am not a HUGE fan of Mothers Day for the very same reason....

I guess since I lost my mother before having the children they have been saving grace as far as NEW traditions....Believe me it hasn't been easy this will mark my 16th year of Christmas Eve's without her, her special way about her, the singing carols, and reading Christmas stores....the cooking and fussing over us kids, the way she could get you exactly what you didn't even know you wanted....

I try really hard to make those memories for my kids, and I won't know until they are grown if I have succeeded....

Dh is having a hard time as this is his first Christmas with out his Mother....Life just isn't fair....(stomping my foot, hand on my hip smiley)

Okay, I can do that version! I always have some grand idea of what is should be. I have visions of this time of year being magical, merry and exciting---cozy fire going, christmas carols playing, baking smells through the house and me wearing an apron. ROFL Instead I am stressing that I got to freaking bake a ton of things; there is still gift cards and presents I need to still get,; I havent't even started the cards yet; the siding is going up; we still need a ton of stuff for Belize and I have no darn apron. :D
