View Full Version : long-lasting lipstick?
I've seen commercials for several different brands and can't remember any but Cover Girl. I used one a few years ago and it worked... but seemed to be really dry and yet gummy by the end of the day (that doesn't make much sense). Anyway... has anyone used a brand that they can recommend?

I usually use Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting lipstick. Love the colors and it seems to stay (without smudging) not having to constantly reapply.

What colors do you like/wear? I don't like anything too pink, but not too RED either... :) My favorite is Newport Rose.

I just bought the 8 (or 6) hour Cover Girl and it's great for me - no dryness or gumminess.
I'm like you, Diane, I don't like real red or real pink. Somewhere in between, lol.
No chance to get to the mall any time this century so I'll probably try the CG. Thanks, sista! :)
Revlon Color stay is good. BUT, the best thing to do is to line your entire mouth with lip liner in the same color (slighly smudge it in) and then put the lip gloss/stick on top. If/when your lip gloss/stick wears off, the liner will still be there.

They only problem with that is that dh won't kiss me if I have lipstick on. If it's the stuff that won't budge then he will.  Edited to add: I would rather use regular liner and lipstick!

then line your lips and then use something like Burt's Bees color lip balm.

I do the liner too and then lip balm...never tried the long lasting lipsticks, although I love the way the one case looks that Beyonces does the commercial for....very sleek...

and why would you want your lips outlined once the lipstick or gloss wears off? lol

lip liner takes longer to wear off and it leaves a stain of color on your lips so they don't look like they have nothing on.
i am not talking just a line around the lips. said to fill them in ;)

sorry, i read "when your lipstick wears off, the liner will still be there". didn't interpret that as filling in. i picured like a 90 year old woman with ring around the lips. lol

and yuck! i used to work with a woman (my age) that lined her lips in dark pink and used a pink gloss!
hate that look!
but all joking aside, i always use my lip liner pencil on my whole mouth first and it makes my lipstick last longer plus you always have a little 'stain' to your lips.
but those Burt Bee's lip balms really stain too and don't rub off.
my problem is i love a really glossy look and i hate how that gets all over glasses! LOL

Thanks! It looks like the M.A.C holds up the best. I still haven't purchased any, so I'll look around for that.
