Do you do your own or do you have someone do them for you? Does anyone use H&R Block or similar service?

We used H&R Block until last year, but we used Jackson Hewitt last year. I'm going back to H&R Block this year.

I do ours. I've already started, just waiting for brichard's w-2 to show up...
I do them myself online and file that way. Ours are very easy.
We have an accountant. Have had him for over 20 years.
Ok, so we owe state, more than the small refund from Federal...argh!

Never used an H&R Block kind of place. We have accountants.
Hope you can find someone who can help you--maybe there are deductions you can take that you don't know about (?).
unfortunately we have done them and had them looked over we owe and that is that....dang it.
this should make you feel better, we are having to pay more in taxes than we 'made' last year.

so that we could eat, dh withdrew from our IRA. you have to pay taxes on that. the taxes on that is more than the 6 months worth of income he made so part of the withdrawal had to go to taxes which makes it necessary to withdraw a higher amount which then causes the tax bill to go up....and so it goes
