View Full Version : Invitation Wording help (again!)
dd and her best friend are having their 14th birthday party together. it's going to be a "Black and White Masquerade Party" Everyone must wear black and white. Got dd the cutest dress from Penny's (and she will be able to wear it more than once!). The invitations are going to be attached to masks that they must bring as their admittance to the party. It's on Saturday, April 12th 7-10.
I have attached the pics of the masks. The one with the multiple masks is the one going out with the invites and the single mask pics are the ones the girls are considering.

Ok, I'm not very good at this kind of stuff, but this is what I came up with:
It's time for **** and ****'s birthday
The plans have been made
To celebrate in a fun way
We're having a Masquerade
Come dressed in your favorite clothes
But only black and white will do
Wear your mask, and don't expose
It will be fun to guess who's who

Wear this mask
Clothes of black and white
It's **** and ****'s birthdays
****(date)****** is the night.
A mascarade party
Will be a fun time for all
Dancing, talking,
and having a ball.
**Six o'clock** is the time...
at ******'s place.
Your presence is requested
remember the mask for your face.
Our 14th birthdays
will be truly great
If you are there
to help us celebrate.

I was thinking she meant "red", for the "stand out in the crowd" factor.

I could see that... and they would definitely stand out. :)
Sounds like a lot of fun and I like the masks. No help with the wording though.

Are you going with black/white food theme, too?? Cake?? I love to plan kids parties!! I can't wait to hear what you have planned for this one. Truly...party planning (sweet 16, kids birthdays, engagement, etc.) is your niche! You are good at that.

having it with the friend. so far, the expenses are about the same as if we did one on our own.
but i have to keep telling dd to calm down. it's hard cause her friend didn't do a big 13 year old party and is now regretting that and trying to make up for it.

no, i think we are just going to do kid food. evidently my meatballs (which are either sista's or angie's recipe) have become quite famous and talked about! LOL
i think for decorations cause it will be really cheap (labor intensive but cheap) we are just going to rent a large hellium tank and blow up a ton of black and white balloons (tied off with opposite ribbon) and let them float from the ceiling. and then just buy those rolls of plastic tableclothes in black and then white napkins. i acutally have alot of black and white/silver stuff in my party closet.
i had really wanted them to do mardi gras...i have a ton of that stuff!!!!

Not sure if your extremely brave or crazy ?( How is it working with another Mother planning this? who's house, is everyone in agreement on the food, decor, etc.

the other mom is a dream to work with. we think just alike. it's the girls who are making us crazy cause they can't make a decision!
we are having it at our neighborhood clubhouse. i had said we could have it here. it's' not going to be a ton of people (50, i think) heck, i had that many for dd's 13th and more than that for my dad's party.

Oh that's great about the other Mom...and I forgot you have a club house...tell the girls they have to decide or you will decide for them

You could order plastic top hats and white gloves for table decorations from Oriental Trading Co. I just love this theme!!

too funny that you mentioned Oriental Trading. I was just playing at their site and came up with a great room design and it's only going to be about $30 each!!
They had some really cute glossy black and white gift bags that I thought we could use as 'weights' for balloon bouquets.

Ugh... I could never fit 50 people in my house, well... I probably could but it would be tight. You're lucky to have a clubhouse that will take/keep the mess out of your house. I always did my dd's birthday parties away from the house too. (McDonalds/Circus Pizza... etc.) for that reason.

It's good that this mom is easy to work with and that you think a lot alike. I tried doing a birthday party for dd#3 with one of my friends for her ds, and we were totally on the opposite page. (mostly boy/girl differences) We ended up doing our own.

heck, i have had 100 in my house and it's not a big house. it's just laid out nice and we have a huge covered patio that we can open the den up to.

I could... but scattered and not all in one room. That's when I wish my kitchen was more open to my living room. If it were nice outside it wouldn't be a problem... I've got plenty of room to entertain out there, which I have done many times with a lot of people.

they aren't all in one room at my house! LOL
unless i was having a speaker, there's no reason for everyone to be all in one room ;)

Aren't black, red and white the harlequin colors?
Aren't black, red and white the harlequin colors?
not sure. this isn't really harlequin as much as masquerade. i think of harlequin as jewled tone like this

not sure. this isn't really harlequin as much as masquerade
I thought harlequin was masquerade! Isn't it??? For some reason I had it in my head that the harlequin was a figure of mystery and intrigue and was a big hit of costume parties (okay, my head has been stuck in historical stuff lately, mainly the 1700 - 1800's, so that's probably where this is coming from). Anyway, it might be neat for the birthday girls to wear black white and red just to be easier to find amongst the black/white crowd. :D
i think of harlequin more as the jester from the opera.
think "Masquerade" from Phantom of the Opera
too late..we have bought the dress, not taking it back!!!

Love the theme idea. They are going to have a blast. I'll have to keep stuff like this in mind if my kids ever decide to have a big party. Not likely with these boys though. :( lol

That's a cool graduation party theme! Would probably even work at my school...where the kids go to so many different high schools. Hmmmmmm
