Do you have a beauty secret you care to share?

I shave my legs with baby oil, never get nicks or cuts and they are smooth afterwards

I have always used Ivory soap on my face and Vaseline to take off my makeup (when I remember to put some on). I don't look a day over 40!! LOL

I'm at a point where this thought amuses me. Beauty secret?? okay:

I don't wear the appropriate corrective lenses when I look in the mirror. I still look like I'm in my early 30s. At least that's what I can see. LOL
(somehow the gray still shows in my hair-but my eyes are still getting worse, so there's hope that will resolve too) ;)

I always wash/rinse my hair with rain water, or when it's not available... distilled water. It leaves my hair feeling soft...

 Amy and Cathy, you two kill me!

I use a buff puff every day in the shower and I look very young for my age (that's what people always tell me, anyway!). My mother is the same (always looked younger than she was) and she always washes her face with Irish Spring! LOL! My cousin is an esthetician (into skin care/make-up) and she cringes when we tell her what we do! She has this 7- or 8-step regimen that she follows nightly and another regimen in the morning. And we look younger! ;) (I'm pretty sure it's all in the genes!)

the gentle buff puff is great as long as you aren't too rough cause that can cause broken capillaries. actually exfoiliating is a great thing for your skin.

mine is to wear sunscreen every single day. unless you never go outside, you get more sun on your face than you realize. my moisturizer has it so it's not a big deal to think about. sun damage can be deadly besides aging.

According to my cousin, you are not supposed to exfoliate every day--she keeps begging me to stop. :grimace:

Sunscreen! Yes--must use sunscreen. (I need to be better about that!)

I avoid the sun like crazy and have a friend who moved here from PA--she sun worships and it's so weird to me because no one does that here. People don't "lay out" with baby oil trying to get a tan. I told her she's going to look like Magda from There's Something About Mary one day and she says, "But I'll look great until then!" (Uh...you will?)

it makes me crazy how many people think 'well, i don't lay out in the sun so i don't have to wear sunscreen'. walking the dog, going in and out of the car on errands, working in the yard...are all out in the sun!
skin cancer and sun damage are not pretty.

That's so true! Don't forget skiing in the winter too! Dd's face was red yesterday after we had our first break from winter and the kids were out all day. It wasn't warm enough for me to even think about sun screen!

I agree Ann!

The sun is supper dangerous when its overcast, just because you don't see it like on a HOT day doesn't mean its not hitting you....always sunscreen yourself and your family!

I didn't realize that... but I still only did it about every other day. Looks like I'd better cut it down a bit too. :)

I always sunscreened my kids/dck's but never used it myself. I hate the way it feels on my skin. (to say nothing about the smell)

you should at least put it on our face.
do you not wear moisturizer? if so, just get the sunscreen in your moisturizer.

I was going to say the same thing...alot of them have an spf of at least 15. I always wear sunscreen...esp on my face. I don't need the sun aggrevating my rosacea, that's for sure.

I've never known anyone who actually does this. How do you store the rain water?? How much do you go through while rinsing? It would seem like you would use alot to wash...and then another good amount to rinse.

Beauty secret? Hmmmm....I almost always get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I just feel better when I do....plus no "tired eyes", etc.

I always remove my makeup before bed (I know some friends who don't...yuck! ;) ).

I drink a lot of water...makes my skin look better.

Each/every time it rains I'd put a few containers out to catch the rain. I'd pour it in old milk cartains and use them as needed. It leaves my hair feeling very soft.

I also remove my make up before going to bed, but I know a lot of people who don't. I drink at least 5 or 6 9oz. bottles of water a day and I've found my skin has been in a lot better condition for it. I haven't had a pop in almost 3 weeks. 8o

I haven't had a pop in almost 3 weeks. 8o I "give up" soda for Lent...and drink WAY more water during that time. I love my Diet Coke, though. Thinking about letting myself only have it on Sundays (after Lent, of course). The water is much better for me.

I'm actually not missing it as much as I thought I would. At least now I'm finding myself grabbing for a water instead of a pop first. I do feel much better without it. I think all that fizz was doing something to my stomach.

My hair is pretty short, so I don't use a lot. If I run out I use regular water... but I would rather use rain water.

I use a tinted moisturizer (instead of foundation) with spf 15 in it. I think my moisturizer has it too, not sure. I only put moisturizer on in the am. Truth, I don't remove my make up at night. I used to but I am falling asleep earlier than I think I will at night ( on the sofa) then go up to bed and don't think about it. When I sunblock the kids in the morning, I put it on me too. Don't drink enough water, but am getting better. No soda.

I don't think of it as a secret, because I only do it at the unwavering insistence of my dermatologist, but I wear a sunscreen with SPF 41 - 55 on my face and chest. I try to put it on the tops of my hands, too.

Once in a blue moon..I take the tiniest dab of vasiline rub it into my hands and run my fingers through my hair. Makes it silky....but do to much or to often and it gets greasy.

i never think to take my makeup off at night...but don't wear much of any.

I can't stand not to wash my face/take my makeup off before I to go bed. I'm sure I'd probably wake up looking like a raccoon if I didn't.
