Ok besides your memories.....What do you have from your childhood...

Do you have these things or do your parents have them?

I came across a doll collection my parents started for me when I was little, I enjoyed as a child, but I am thinking of selling it... dd isn't interested in it at all, and it got me to thinking, what things do other people have from when they were children.

I have a Holly Hobby doll and an afghan that I keep in my hope chest...I too have lots of photo albums.

LOL I did a search on the collection of dolls that started it all, they were sold at a Gas Station ARCO, when you bough a full tank of gas....I found a site that is selling all the dolls from that collection.

I remember one or two of those dolls....think we had gotten them at a garage sale.

I have a few pieces of a porcelain Tea set.....I keep saying "why am I keeping them it's only like 3 pieces"
but then I still keep them every time I move.

I have my old porcelain tea set. I wasn't too much into dolls, I don't think I ever owned a Barbie of my own. The dolls I did have I think I played with so much that I must wore them out. I don't remember ever throwing any of them out, but they're gone so... so I'm assuming my mom did. She was never much for saving/clutter... so she didn't keep a lot from our childhood.

Well, there we go! New members can now post!

I think I've posted about this before, but.....Dh and I are kind of into retro toys. He gets most of it from eBaby. He bought an old Atari video game system with a box full of games. He gave it to his Dad, who is so into it! Dh and his brothers can remember waking up in the middle of the night when they were kids and hearing their Dad playing Atari. Guess he'd play when he couldn't sleep, or had gotten in from a night shift.

Dh has actually bought quite a few things for me from my childhood. A Mrs. Beaeley doll, Trixie Beldon books, and copies of old TV shows (A Family Affair, Land of the Lost, HR Puffinstuff).

We don't actually have anyof the old stuff, but it's fun to find stuff that we remember and enjoyed. I never played with actual Barbi dolls, but I'd love to find one of those old Barbie heads that you could put make-up on.

They're still around but they are different now...I bought my niece one a few years ago.

I remember Atari... we'd sit/play "Breakthrough" (is that the name of it?) all the time. We ended up giving it to my mom/dad, and they played it all the time too. Those games don't begin to compare with the games they have out now. (and we use to think they were soo great) Kids now aday's would probably be pretty bored with them. :)

I remember my best friend had one of those barbie doll heads. We just loved combing/curling her hair and applying makeup on her. Lots of fun!!!

I have a doll cradle that I won't let go of. I took pictures of ds3 in it when he was a baby, dressed in my old doll clothes. lol I have some dolls, karate uniform, jewelery box and doll clothes. I used to have a lot more but threw it out or donated it along the way. I would love to have a Mrs. Beasley doll again. I had seen a Holly Hobby oven at a flea market a couple of years ago but thought at the time that there is no where to put it and a baby on the way. Now I wish I grabbed it and had it on the kitchen counter. lol Even if I only kept it for a little while to enjoy it until I was over it, wouldn't have been worth the few bucks. lol
Renee, I say keep the dolls if they are not taking up any room and maybe one day you will have a granddaughter to come over and play with them. I still remember the couple of times I went to my grandparents when I was little and played with my aunts dolls which seemed so antique. I loved it. It's part of the "oh wow, this was yours when you were little"? thing. LOL

I agree... if they're not taking up too much space, I too would keep it. Your future gd might just LOVE playing with them, and they would probably mean a lot more to her just because they use to be yours. Each/every time I get rid of something because I never use it/don't need it... I suddenly need it and wish I had it back, but too late. :( LOL (but that's me.... :) )

Don't have any toys. I have a ladybug pendant watch my dad brought back from Vietnam and an Osmond Brothers album collection. Mostly I have pieces of furniture that I always loved that my grandparents have given me over the years.
I have the high chair my gm originally bought for me since I was the first gb. All my siblings and cousins used it. I have an old piano bench without the seat that my gm used as a coffee table and all the babies used to nap in it growing up and a couple of chairs that used to be in my gm's bedroom. I have my ggf's secretary and a cigar cabinet that I use as an end table. I use it to store some of my gbs books. A cast iron bean pot of my ggm's.
Lots of things like that.

Okay, that's better than an old Barbie doll! lol I love that you have so much furniture that has a story to it. :)
