I just absolutely love the lyrics. If I could pick a song for my children to embrace I think this would be the one. The song is country, not normally my favorite type of music, but the lyrics are exceptional. Here are the words in case some of you have not heard it. And, the song is by a lady named Lee Ann Womack.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but never lose that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
When one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin'
Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth makin
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance

This is the only country CD I own. Heard the song on the radio shortly after moving here and had to get it. I made my dh listen to it, dance with my dd to it, and e-mailed the lyrics to friends.

Thanks for mentioning it!

I'm definitely a country fan... and this is one of my absolute favorite songs. When I first heard it on the radio I rushed right out to buy the CD.

One of my friends dd graduated last year from HS and she loved the song so much she went out and had a special card made up with the lyrics to this song inside. It card was perfect... it said everything that needed to be said. :)

I love that song!!

I taught Kindergarten this past year and we played that song at their graduation. We had a slide show of all the kids while that song was playing. I was bawling by the end of it. Now, every time I hear that song I can think of those kids.

I love the song too. Dh downloaded on to the computer, and then burnt it on to a CD. We listen to it quite a bit.Everytime I hear it though, it reminds me of Dale Earnheart. One of the TV channels played that song while showing scenes of him in the past. It can make you cry depending on the mood that you are in.

Ok......I have to admit that I don't think I know the song (how embarassing!)....maybe I've heard it, but I'm not sure. Now you've all got me so curious that I am on a mission to hear it. Gosh...I might actually just go out and buy the darn CD!

:* I heard the song on the radio yesterday. I was right, I had heard it before, just wasn't aware of the title (and never listened to the words that carefully!). It is a wonderful song....inspiring. I still might buy the CD. :)
