There was kind of a freak accident on the playground at my son's school on Thursday, and a friend of my son's is now in Children's Medical Center with multiple skull fractures and TBI with continued bleeding in the frontal and temporal lobes. Please pray for a min of brain damage (or however you're led). Thanks, DS

How scary! What kind of accident was he involved in that resulted in skull fractures?

Playing football...bumped heads with another boy which caused him to pass out....fell like a tree from that and hit the concrete with the back of his head which caused the real injuries. His brain bouncing around inside his skull caused the multiple lesions.

No, I haven't heard anything new from the other parents, and the school can't give out anything except the barest info due to legal reasons.

I called and talked to the Mom Friday, so I don't want to bother her too much by calling again. Might send ballons or something today.

Sorry I haven't updated you guys sooner, it's been kinda crazy around here and I can't post at work. I got this on the 28th:

My family is overwhelmed with the love and support that we have received. Reids friends and classmates are so special to him. Mr Choate brought cards up here that the class made and they read them together. Reid can't wait to hang them all in his room. He misses his friends, please tell your children that.

Thursday never should have happened, this was a freak accident. Reid sustained a severe concussion, two skull fractures that go from ear to ear across the top of his head and multiple brain bleeds. On Saturday, they got him up and he walked. He has bad headaches.

Reid has some cognitive issues and will need to work with therapists 3 days a week. We will have good days and bad days. Todays not a good day, but maybe later on he'll feel better.

The good new is that we anticipate a full recovery. And even better is that we "may" be able to go home tomorrow!

Please keep your prayers up for our Reid. I truly think all of your caring has gotten him this far. He's sleeping, and that has enabled me to get you this update.

Thanks again for your caring.

I hear he did get to go home Tuesday.

They're using a really cool website called lotsa helping hands.com to coordinate volunteers to bring meals and drive Reid's little sister to and from school.
