Awwww Pam!! How exciting!!! How old is he again and what was his first "read"??!!
:D He's 5 and his first read was "Mat" which is one of the Bob books. Today he read "Fat Cat, Fat Rat" and I'm just about to pop, lol! With two extremely reluctant readers his enthusiasm is like fireworks!

I'm a little late, but congrats to your ds. My dgs expressed an interest in learning to read himself this summer. He just came out and asked me, "Nanna, can you teach me to read?" He already knows his letters and sounds and I've read to him since birth. He really began to show reading behaviors when his pre-K teacher started a book check out program.
I started teaching him a few pre-primer sight words and printed off some sight word based readers. Here's a web site where you can get the books too.

then look under literacy, then printable books.
