View Full Version : Tattoos
Have we discussed this? I remember a discussion about toe rings and piercings, but not tattoos. I did a search and saw that Bev and her dh got some done recently. I have none, and will never get one. Dh has two - one is a graphic representation of the 23rd Psalm around his right arm, and above that is a Celtic knot..something that is apparently not finished. He's also begun talking about getting a dove on his left chest, which prompts me to threaten to have an iguana emblazoned across my chest, with the name Fernando (the name of a lizard we met on the beach in Puerto Vallarta).
So, do you have one, and if not, would you get one?

no and no
too short so i'll add: hell no
LOL
ROFL about the "Fernando" tat!
You know, it's odd... if you had asked me six months ago I could have just dittoed Sista's response. Now, part of me thinks, hmmm... while the other part is still dittoing Sista and contemplating having the other part of me committed. I mentioned it to dd1 the other day and she looked at me like I'd grown a third eye-ball. Anyway, no tats and no (consicous) plans to get one anywhere in the foreseeable future. :goofy:
No, None for me, or dh :)
Amy made me get a dot. LOL
She has a dolphin on her ankle.
ds wants one, i told him i would rather he get his ear pierced.

The girls have been talking about going together and getting coordinating (not matching) tattoos. I realize that it's out of my hands, but I'm not a fan. I am glad that they keep having scheduling issues. Maybe the idea will fade............ well, I can hope.
I know plenty of people who have them, but it's so permanent.

I don't have any but been thinking about it forever...like a rose or heart or combo...butterflies what ever I decide if I do it will be very small an tasteful...I'm also a chicken so I think I might just start with the outline.

No...don't really have a desire to get one, either. None for dh, either.

I've always wanted a rose on my ankle... but I've never seriously thought about actually doing it, and probably never will. ;) I always think/worry about how it will look when I'm old and wrinkled. Dd #2 and 3 have tatoo's on their lower backs... Dawn's always talked about getting one but never has, and dh isn't interested in getting one either.
Up until just over 2 years ago I would have answered no, I don't have any. My dh has several and got quite a few of them here in Europe. We have friends that own a tattoo studio here. I always said I'd want our friend to do it if I ever got one. Well, we moved back and now I have a few. The funny thing is our friend didn't do any of them. One of the guys in his shop is a very talented artist and he has done all my work. All of mine can be covered and I don't really care what they look like when I am old and wrinkly. LOL

I don't have any, nor does dh. I've casually thought about getting one, but it would be small and concealed with clothing. I doubt I'll ever get one though. I'm not a big fan of lots of body art.

that's what i would tell the kids at Starbucks when they would get tatts (especially their breasts)...just think what it would look like when it was all sagging! LOL

Dh and I don't have any and I cannot see myself or him ever getting one. There is no desire to at all. My kids don't see them as neat or cool so can't see them getting one either. When it is brought up I tell them my oldest brother has many and some he would rather not have now. And my mil used to say that if you want a tattoo, get the picture and put it in your dresser drawer for 10 years. If you still really like that picture and want the tattoo, then do it but chances are you won't. lol

I have two, but like others, mine are always concealed by clothes, so it won't matter what they look like when I get old and saggy. No one will see them, but me and whomever I choose to let see them.

I actually saw an almost bald guy who had a tatoo on his head (between his hairline and bald head) of a guy mowing... his hair. I had to laugh, it was just hilarious! !!

 It looked a lot like that, except it had little pieces of hair flying up in the air. :) One of dd's friends had one almost like it somewhere else... ;) and was embarrassed thinking about what everyone would think when she went into labor.

That's funny! A friend and I were just chatting about her gyn appt, that she told the doctor before she went "there" that she had shaven completely down there. The doctor laughed and said, honey, you wouldn't believe the things I've seen!!

I'm with Jenn--Hell No! (Dh doesn't have any and never will.)
I decided that I would never get a tattoo when I was 18 and saw a man at the wave pool with a tattoo on his bicep of The Fonz holding up his thumbs with A-y-y-y-y! written underneath. Uh, I'm sure that seemed like a good idea at the time.
If there had been some law that you had to get a tattoo at the age of 18, I'm certain I would be wanting to get whatever I put on my body removed at this point in my life.
The only tattoos I can understand are the ones memorializing kids--I know someone whose baby died a few days after birth and she has an angel with her baby's name tattooed on her. And I saw a show with a man who has a tattoo of his daughter's face--she was 8 when she was abducted and killed. Those are tattoos I can understand.

ROFLMAO About The Fonz. That truly cracks me up. What's funny is I'm trying to get ds4 to hold up his thumb and say Ayyyy. lol It's cute when he does it but I also know this is something he won't have tattooed on his body later on.
I can understand those tattoos as well. How sad.
