Dd had a pretty emotional day yesterday and not in a good way. She had a melt down after school- sometimes being a military kid really sucks. She had 2 best friends and one moved the end of last school year. The other was supposed to be here as long as were are going to be, but just recently found out she's moving in a few month. Well, when dd went to school yesterday her BF wasn't in any of her classes and they don't even have lunch together. She's just devastated that she won't get to see her much at all before she moves. To top it off dd had herself a little pity party and decided that she doesn't ever want any new friends because they will either move or will. Sad part of that is that it's true, but I told her she can't live her life thinking that way and needs to cherish the friendships she makes even if it is for a short period of time. I feel really bad for her as I know exactly how she feels. I'm hoping today is a better day for her.
Ds had a good first day. Have a great day everyone!

How heartbreaking Jen! I hope dd has a better day today.
Nothing much on my agenda today. I may go raspberry picking for a while then help stuff entertainment books at dd2's school. I have a little housework to do, but can do that before I go.
I've really been contemplating a 4 hour a day assistant position at the school... I don't know...
aw jen..that's so sad! hope today goes better.
my dd said she liked high school, but had one glitch. she couldn't find one of her classes. asked someone and they told her it was on the 4th floor....there is no 4th floor! LOL
work, have training again tonite. our ribbon cutting is Sept 10!

I woke up with the worst sinus headach... :grimace: I just took something and am hoping it kicks in quickly. ;)
I've got to finish up my laundry and maybe give the closets a second coat of paint. Then I want to start #8 of my series of Stephanie Plum books... which probably means I probably won't get a whole lot else done until I'm done with it. Not really... but it's so hard for me to put a book down once I get into it. :) Not much else on the agenda.
I hope you all have a GREAT day...

that's the great thing about her books. they are such fun fluff but easy to put down and come back to.

Awwwww... that's so sad. I hope she'll find/meet a new best friend (whether she wants to or not) and will once again look forward to going to school. :)

  I remember that happening a lot. I remember how I was once directed to the boy's locker room.
The kids are getting haircuts today. I adore my hairdresser, but she really is a perfectionist and we will most likely be at her salon for 2 hours. That will give me time to look at the hair books for my next cut. My hair is super long. I love that I can pull it into a long ponytail, but if I wear it down if gets very poofy/frizzy looking because I have fine hair, but tons of body. I kind of like Katie Holmes first cut http://styletips101.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/katie-holmes.jpg http://www.celebrity-gossip.net/images/thumbnails/katie-holmes-chelasea-galaxy-721-2.jpg
But i don't think I can go that short immediately. That would take about 6 inches off my hair :nervous:
cute cut Amy, but don't you need some kind of layers so that it doesn't pyramid out?
I will probably have to flat iron and use puddy to piece it out.
Jak-Poor dd! It is always better to be the one leaving vs. being left behind. Being a military kid is not for the faint of heart. I timed my pregnancies so the bulk of their childhood would be in a long term school system because I know how hard that must be. Hope she has a better day today!

i was doing that for a while when i was doing her newer haircut, and it really is nice to have the layers again and just work with my waves. that got to be a pain.

Jen, sorry your dd is so upset. I'm sure she will become fast friends with someone who is in her classes and it will just happen. poor girl. Honestly, for us growing up it wasn't hard. We thought it was fun to move around so much and meet new kids, sometimes we would move to an area we were in before and meet some old friends. Maybe because so many moved often out there that it just didn't faze us. I hope the rest of the week is brighter for her.
Well, dh got the beds out of the rec room last night and into the little bedroom along with trunks and dressers. So now we have a huge disaster waiting for us to clean in the rec room. Plus I have laundry, surprisingly, not, a huge amount is from said rec room. lol Oh the joys of switching bedrooms. :grimace: Something tells me that next week I will find some peace and quiet and get a chance to chill.
Have a good day all :)
{{{Jen}}} Hugs to your dd, too. We moved a lot when I was a kid and I remember those feelings. :( It got to where I wouldn't even unpack all of my boxes.
We finished spelling and science before I took ds2 to school and ds1 and dd2 did reading and typing while I was gone. Grammar is the only other thing they need my help with. I am soooo tired all the time anymore. Hopefully there will be time for a nap this afternoon! :D
Nothing much else on the agenda for today except for some laundry and general cleaning. We're going over to Mom's for dinner with some friends of ours. Should be fun.
Angie, good luck with the decision, but you always sound mega-busy as it is!
Ann, what an awful thing for someone to tell dd to head to the 4th floor! 8o
Diane, I hope your head meds worked. You're making me curious about Stephanie Plum! I may have to see if our library carries her books.
Amy, I like that cut too, but won't it be a pita to have to do it up every day???
Mel, yikes! Just think of how nice it will be when you're done, lol!

JAK ((((your dd)))) Bless her soul. I hope today is better and it sounds like you may have to do some frequent sleepovers. :) Devil's advocate in me says, them not being in any classes together may make it easier to say good'bye. If they are not seeing one another on a daily (hourly) basis, they may naturally drift apart some before she leaves.
Ann, LOL, that sounds like something that would happen to my dd! Bet she'll have it all figured out today, though. Do your schools have odd/even days and classes, or do they go to every class every day of the week?
Back to work again today. Took dd to the orthodontist for x-rays and molds. I find out in 2 weeks what the damage, er estimate, will be. Gotta work tonight.

i don't feel all that badly! LOL ;)

.
they have an A/B schedule. 4 per day. I wish it were more like college rather than alternating. but it would be too hard with all the sports teams.

Isn't college alternating? Dd3 has a ton of Tuesday/Thursday classes, and none on Monday or Friday, and she has a lab on Wednesday afternoon.
A/B is every other day, not all A classes on M/W/F and B on T/TH
it's
M (A day) Tues (B) Wed (A) Thursday (B) Friday (A), Mon (B), Tues (A), Wed (B)....and so on
does that make sense?
