Usually not until a few weeks before Christmas. If I do it too early, by Christmas I'm just so sick and tired of it I'm ready to take it all down and put it away. I have no clue where I'm going to put my tree this year because I've got my computer where the tree usually stands. I may have to shuffle some furniture around to make the room. If it weren't for all the kids coming over for Christmas Eve... I wouldn't even bother putting it up.
Christmas decorations at the shopping village by house and the mall have been since BEFORE halloween!!!!
if i am motivated right after thanksgiving for the first weekend after that

I've seen people with their Christmas tree's up since right after Halloween. Christmas songs too, and it's almost like they've entirely skipped right over Thanksgiving... which I've hardly heard anything about at all. :( I've gotten a few Christmas gifts already bought, which is good for me because I usually don't even start my shopping until a few weeks before Christmas. I already know what I'm getting everyone else, so it should get it done pretty quick this year.
I don't put them up until the second week in December and am itching to take them down day after Christmas, bah humbug! The house just seems soooo cluttered and claustrophobic, lol. Maybe things will be different in the new house. I already know where the tree is going, lol!

I am the same way! There is such a huge build up to Christmas with excitement (and stress) and as soon as the last present is opened, all that build up comes crashing down. Everything turns to clutter and all I want to do it get the house back into shape and steam clean the rugs.

that's the way it is around here too... I just want to get everything back in order, where it all belongs. Can't stand any "clutter".
Clutter...Yikes you two are tough....
I love the magic all the decoration bring...I hate taking it down :( :tree: :santa: I think since I am working the day after Thanksgiving :chicken: dh and ds will do the outdoors and Saturday we will decorate the inside...

I love Christmas....we usually start putting up decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. We put the tree up the next weekend. We usually take it down after the new year. But I leave all of my "snowman" decorations up through Valentine's Day.
well, i have two gorgeous poinsettias in my front pots! LOL went to get some mums but there weren't any.

the mums around my lamp post are toast, we've had such cold temps they're goners.
can't leave poinsettias outside here, must be nice! :)
i do want to get a prelit tree in an urn for the front porch. that is after i get the brass kickplate back on the door and get the shutters painted. humm... maybe dd can earn back some of her allowance by painting for me! :)
